    Hmm.. what about in Turkey?

    • not sure was thinking the same

    • Turkey seems to have no change. Still the cheapest by far.

      • +1

How to subscribe the Turkey one when I have already signed up for AU one?

        • +4
          1. Cancel your subscription.
          2. Let the expiry date lapse.
          3. Use Turkey VPN.
          4. Login to your Netflix.
          5. Renew with Turkey subscription.
          • @4agte: They accept Australian card?

          • -2

@4agte: Just found out that VPN cost $10aud a month….

            • @wjojff: You can use free vpn only to sign up. There's no need to use vpn once on a Turkish plan.

          • @4agte: Is there a free vpn this can be done from?

            • @requium94: mixed reports, some say Windscribe might be the go

              • @tobia: I've done it with the free windscribe plugin for Chrome. You just have to adjust the setting so it works in incongnito mode.

            • +1

@requium94: Cashback deals have been posted here for 90%-100% back on VPN.

          • @4agte: Hi 4agte, I tried what you said (steps 1-5) and when I tried to use the previous credit card which was still on my account, the following error came up, "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."

I am using the 28 Degrees Latitude card. I called them and they say that they have no rejected transactions from their end.

            Any ideas anyone?

            • @d123: I'm using 28deg for Argentina.
              Might be an address issue?

            • @d123: I'm having the same issue, even with new Netflix account. Has anyone successfully signup with 28 Degrees card?

          • @4agte: Credit card/s keep getting rejected…

      • Just got my invoice for Netflix this morning = $7.78 AUD via Turkey

FYI - If you look in the comments I posted my "how to" guide. Hopefully it helps others.

          • @Mr Icarus: 8-9 bucks

                  NOV 11, 2021 3:16PM EST

BUENOS AIRES, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Argentina consumer prices rose 3.5% in October, above analyst estimates, the official statistics agency said on Thursday, a blow for the Peronist government ahead of midterm elections on Sunday in which rampant inflation is a key concern for voters.

The South American country's rolling 12-month inflation was clocked at 52.1% in the month and 41.8% in the first 10 months of the year.

            • @reactor-au: How the hell is my subscription so much… Gotta be something wrong

          • +1

@Mr Icarus: $10.72 for me but would be a bit less on a cheaper card for FX

    • Does anyone know how to get it going with the Turkey subscription using VPN?

I was successful with Youtube Premium but Netflix and Spotify no luck.

      • +6

Have you tried following the below?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/608762

From memory I wasn't able to sign up a new account using a VPN, it would prompt me for a local Turkish mobile number. So I signed up to an AU membership using a uBank card cancelled the membership and once the month expired I would re-start my membership via a VPN (using the card already saved on my account).

        • Do you have to sign up with the same subscription level or you can start with the lowest and then switch to a more expensive after re-start?

          • +1

@vasya: You can switch from lowest to highest plan at the same time you reactivate your membership on VPN.

    • +17

True. As more than half of OZB members live in Turkey, I would be interested to know when are the prices going up there.

    • what about argentina?

  • +1

    Ok

  • +1

still worth it I think… but that is for me, I use it most days, I imagine if you only use it on the weekends or whatever, maybe not worth it.

  • Looks like customers like myself that were still paying Netflix Basic via Apple subscription for $9.99 is now increased to $10.99 from 16/11/2021.

Now there isn't really an incentive to keep this going via Apple subscription…

    • +1

Except for paying with discounted iTunes credit (though this is becoming harder to get)

    *Laughs in Plex*

    • I have found some pretty good stuff on Plex, mostly older horror and sci-fi movies.

Tubi has some good kids movies, but also a lot of crap for adults.

        • +2

What are you trying to convey?

    • +132

If my wage doesn't go up, then it's actually getting more expensive because of inflation. That's how things work.

        • +59

          should hahaha

        • +7

Of course that only automatically applies if you are working for government.

          • +1

@RockyRaccoon: Or large businesses governed by an EBA.

          • +3

@RockyRaccoon: As someone who bargained for a new EA for a government agency several years back, I can assure you that doesn't happen, and they laugh if you put that forward as an argument. The pollies may get inflation plus, but the public service not so, and neither they should. Many are overpaid to start with for the little to no value they add.

            • +4

@jrvb42: @jrvb42 what side did you negotiate on?…hate to think you were representing the workers you think are overpaid.

            • @jrvb42: Better off overall test

        • +17

But the quality of food doesn't go up, but the price does? Justify that?

          • +1

@coffeeinmyveins: lots of foods are down in costs this year. Seek out more fresh fruit and veg.

        • +3

Output has been going up since the dawn of statistics, at a pretty constant rate.

Real wage growth ground to a halt in the 80s. Until I get my 40 years of wage growth, please don't expect me or anyone else to work harder than a 1980s coke addict

      • how is going from 15.99 to 16.99 a 25% increase?

looks like im taking a quick trip to turkey to redeem some turkish netflix gc's

        Indices Difference (source: Numbeo)
        * Consumer Prices in Zurich are 52.40% higher than in Sydney (without rent)
        * Consumer Prices Including Rent in Zurich are 38.34% higher than in Sydney
        * Rent Prices in Zurich are 15.80% higher than in Sydney
        * Restaurant Prices in Zurich are 77.71% higher than in Sydney
        * Groceries Prices in Zurich are 61.56% higher than in Sydney
        * Local Purchasing Power in Zurich is 26.77% higher than in Sydney

Bottom line: Switzerland is simply an expensive place to live compared to Australia…if you have Aussie wages (which are, on average, approx 26% lower than Switzerland )

        • +1

At least in Zurich, you can slip across the border where I understand groceries etc., are cheaper (but you are still on the Swiss wage levels).

          • +8

@GG57: Definitely cheaper in Germany but a visit to Waldshut-Tiengen (closest German town with a decent supermarket) is a 110km round trip and you're paying approx $2.60 per litre for fuel.

            • -1

@[Deactivated]: Yes, but at least it is an option. No such choice in Sydney.

              • @GG57: Fly to NZ. We have approx 19% higher purchasing power there!

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Or nothing in your Euro EV.

            • @[Deactivated]: There are other towns (eg Jestetten and Lotstetten) that make it an 80km round trip, and you can shop GST/VAT free (normally 19%) through the German equivalent of the tourist refund scheme just by getting a form at the checkout, leaving the country and driving home again. A lot of people commute to work (by train) from there too to enjoy cheap housing.

          • +1

@GG57: I was told that the amount of meat you can take back into Switzerland without paying duty, if checked by customs, is limited by the number of passengers in the car.

            • +7

@kiitos: Envisions people getting around this by creating meat passengers with clothes and hats on….

    • Just added a few more countries to the spreadsheet. Pakistan now second best behind Turkey

    • +1

Not sure how the calculations are done. But my subscription via Argentina is definitely more then what's in the spreadsheet, $15.26 AUD.

      • It that the premium? that is probably because of the tax for foreign credit card 35%

        • 35% dam, any way around it? Besides moving to Turkey etc?

      • Same, and my latest charge is almost $21 I believe it doesn't include local "tax" but on another of my comments people have said they are still paying much less than the $15 you metion.

    • Brilliant mate! Thank you

    • +1

The Argentina price of ARS939 is pre tax. It's gone up way more, I can't find the figure yet my card was charged AUD$21.02 for the Argentina 4K Plan

      • I was charged 7.75$A last, 28deg card. I am on the glorious 4k hdr plan.

    • I am on the Argentinian plan and noticed I got charged almost $21 for the 4K plan

I think it's time to reset all the Netflix devices on my account to remind the friends and family who are using my account how much they love me.

    • +1

unless you reset the password then they can just log back in

  • +14

I'm old enough to remember the TV commercials which ran along the lines of…. "It costs less than a dollar a day to sponsor a child in a developing country". People signed-up in droves.

Fast-forward 30 years and….. "OUTRAGEOUS! My Netflix is going to cost me $0.76 per day now!"

    Perspective.

    • +4

i remember them to you must not be that old

      • +4

You're also "old enough" then ;-)

    • +3

That only leaves that child 24c for food, shelter and education after they pay for their Netflix subscription!

    • +1

its not really comparable as you talking about helping people vs a luxury.

      • yes I'm confused by that post. comparing a dollar a day for TV (that we use to get for free) vs a dollar a day to save a life.

    • +1

People did sign up in droves, Really??!!

      Gullible.

  • +18

Netflix wasn't never on my Radarr.
