  • Mrs has a Mi Band 5, is the Mi Band 6 any better? Is there anything similar, but better? She mainly just wants the watch but the fancy activity stuff also interests her.

    • My daughter has Band 5, I bought it for $27. Just bought another one from Banggood 2 days ago, for $13.xx. Mi band 6 is too expensive for me in this case :)

  • Yeah, the 6 became too hard to link to GadgetBridge or MiNotify; it almost requires the official mifit app now; so the sort of people who loved $20 'toys' of tech have lost interest.
Strong armed into an ecosystem we didnt want; we just wanted the tech.

    • Sort of off-topic, but wow, I did not know such a thing as Gadgetbridge existed! I've got an Amazfit Bip and have been using the MiFit app because I didn't know there was an alternative. Thanks for the post, definitely going to look into this!

For amazfit and Mi devices, you're better off with the 3rd party Mi Notify app.
But yes, if you want the bare minimum, GadgetBridge is the way to go.

That said, the BIP is just a kinda locked-down PineTime in my opinion.

Good news is that the REBEL team (the ones who redeveloped the PEBBLE interface) have openly purchased a few PINE dev kits, so we SHOULD see pebble OS on the PineTime in the future.

        • Thanks for the tips, I'll take your suggestion and look into the Mi Notify app. Actually, just to clarify, did you mean this: https://mibandnotify.com/ ?

Also interesting to hear about the possibility of PebbleOS on the Bip. I won't hold my breath, but it would be quite cool if it did eventually come about on the Bip.

@GreenGuava: No, it wont be on the bip, it'll be on the pinetime.

But at less than $30, its cheap enough.

            And yes, thats the app.

    • This

  • This is the standard version, not NFC correct

    • do they have global version with NFC?

      • +1

There's a *NEW * Global Version, and it is targeted for the European Market.

        It has upgrades such as:
        - included microphone
        - Amazon Alexa built-in
        - NFC Payments
(Custom banks only, doesn't support the standard/all banks. It's also Mastercard backed, not Amex or Visa.)

  • The 6 seems to behave better than the 5 did with regards to staying connected your entire run.

  • This code BG1d8be6 is active.

    • Hey rep, just confirming for everyone that this is the old Mi Band 6 model, right?

It's not the new one that was released last month. Correct?
      Doesn't have microphone/Alexa/NFC features?
