McDonald's Menu Hack: McChicken $3.65, Big Mac $4.35, Quarter Pounder $5.40, Cheeseburger $2.45, Filet O Fish $3.60

3340

I worked much of my youth at McDonald's and knew that you could purchase patties separately. Sometimes you feel like just buying a burger but the high price of a single burger puts you off. I bought 4 4-1 patties with ketchup today as the double beef and bacon and bacon was discontinued. I ate it with a fork and ketchup they put on it, not bad for a pound of meat.

I never did the math but always heavily suspected it's cheaper to pay for the ingredients of a burger than a complete burger.

Yes they call it a 10 to 1 if you say these magic words they will believe you used to work for Macca's and treat you better
10:1 1/10 pound on Cheeseburger, Big Mac etc
4:1 Quarter Pounder Patty
3:1 1/3 pound Angus Beef Patty

Price Breakdown Cheeseburger
10 to 1 Patty $1.2
Ketchup Free
Mustard $0.5(You can live without it but for the sake of like for like comparison I've added it)
Dehydrated onion (Free)
Pickles (Free)
Your mileage will vary it's free to add to a seperate complete burger it's usually free. If they want to charge for it for it you can go without it or pay whatever they ask
You can also buy a complete cheeseburger and go ahead add 10x of onions and pickles to it for free and redistribute it
Buns ($0.75)
Total Price $2.45 RRP($3.95)

Quarter pounder
4 to 1 Patty $2.25
Sesame seed Buns $0.75
Ketchup Free
Slivered onions $0.5(Sub for dehydrated onions for Free if you want)
Pickles Free
Mustard $0.5
Cheese x 2 $0.7x2

Total Price $5.4 RRP($6.7)

McChicken
Chicken patty fried $2
Sesame bun $0.75
Lettuce $0.5
Mayo $0.5
Lettuce Free
Total Price $3.65 RRP($6.5)

Big Mac
2x10 to 1 Patties $2.4
Cheese $0.7
Sesame bun $0.75
Dehydrated onion Free
Pickles Free
Big Mac Sauce $0.5
Lettuce Free
Total Price $4.35 RRP($6.75)

Filet of fish:
Filet o Fish Patty $1.60
Burger Bun $1
Tartare Sauce $0.5
Cheese $0.7(Includes half slice so you get more)
$3.6(RRP $5.8)

With these prices you can construct pretty much any burger in the restaurant for 30%-50% cheaper with some exceptions being Hamburger πŸ”, Chicken πŸ” and Cheese πŸ§€ and low priced burgers.

If this deal does well I might publish the price hacks for Grilled Chicken and Angus burgers. I have included the link to the nutrition menu so you know what ingredients to ask for. Angus Patty is called 3 to 1(Around $3) and Grilled Chicken Breast(Around $3).

This is a long running hack deal until Macca's decides to patch it.

It's my first day on the register and some tight fwad is asking for a "ten to one" sort of sounds like greentext

This is great, but I think I would feel too embarrassed, though perhaps if i ordered a more custom burger it would be less embarrassing, like maybe a double fillet o fish burger with all the individual items for example.

If you guys are going to such lengths to save a dollar or so on such nutritionally underwhelming "food", you may as well just buy legitimate ingredients and learn to cook with them.

You'll not only save more money overall compared to this, but you'll be developing an incredibly useful skill alongside actually nourishing your body properly and learning to enjoy a real balance of flavours in your food (as opposed to the hundreds of grams of sugar injected into maccas food that gets you addicted but not satiated).

Literally what is even the point of partaking in this 'fast' food when you sit in the drive thru for 20 minutes, and then after that you have to go and assemble the burger yourself anyway! LOL.

    • I'll lose $$$ making the meal . If its more than a few mins wait no way I go to drive thru .
And best of all its subsidized on most of these deals to eat junk :)

Edit : Nov deals these are crappy prices :)

  • What about when you order $1 cheeseburger with a slice of cheese on the side. They refused my order on this in the drive thru

    • Technically, you can’t customise burgers on special. Maybe someone from Maccas can confirm this (as my knowledge of back of house Maccas policies was from the late 1990s).

      • You can, but it won't reduce the price anymore. This is from the free meatless cheeseburger fiasco when they were $1

We seriously had it so much better working back there in the early 90s. Smaller menu, no substitutions allowed. Free meals and health insurance. Sod working there now with some tightwad asking for the components of a burger to save a dollar and lose all their dignity

  • Hi OP , does this means we can order just the "Fillet o Fish" patty for $1.60 ?

How to order at the register ?

    Say : "I want just 4nos of Fillet o Fish patty , without the burger ? "

    • Yes just like that

      • hey op, i went to 2 stores … and both wants to charge the full burger price…

they picked the burger and cross off - no bun , no tartare …. yet still full price

  • I tried this on Thursday and it worked! Tassie drive through. It came up as 3:1 Angus on the screen and cost me $3. I asked for a brioche bun as well but didn't get it but they didn't charge me for it. I got a little knife and fork in a paper bag and also ordered med fries for $3.10.

Would this work for a Sausage McMuffin?

    English muffin
    1 slice cheese
    Sausage patty

    • +1

Yes for stuff with less ingrediants like that its super easy

      • Thanks! :-)))

        • Didn't work for me as they charged $2.85 for the muffin by itself. Adding the cheese and sausage patty meant I didn't save money.

          • @Misha Bakunin: What a shame :-(

            • @tulip99: Did you try it with the breakfast menu? If so how did you go?

              • @Misha Bakunin: No, I haven't tried it with a sausage mcmuffin yet or anything else. I want to, but the nearest McD's is 30 mins away from me. I've only tried it on the Angus patty that I got for $3. I asked for a brioche bun but didn't get one but they didn't charge me for it either.

  • Interesting going to try this tonight. Hopefully I dont get weird looks

    • How did it go?

      • +2

didn't end up doing it. My wife was like its too weird. lol

  • I always feel chicken and fish burgers are rip offs. This confirms it.

So if I fancy a McChicken, I do this little jig:

    Chicken patty fried $2
    Sesame bun $0.75
    Lettuce $0.5
    Mayo $0.5
    Lettuce Free
    Total Price $3.65 RRP($6.5)

Or maintain my self-respect, go to HJ's and get a Chicken Royale for $3.
    Tough choice!

Thanks OP. How can I order the patties from mcspicy??? My wife usually order mcspicy with three extra patties and I have to eat the bun…

  • I tried this again today and it still worked :-) I did it through the drive thru in Tasmania. I got:

    3:1 Angus patty - $3
    1 steamed bun - 75c
    Small fries - $2

So an Angus burger with fries for $5.75! The patty was a bit bigger than the bun which was a Brioche bun. If I wanted a normal Angus burger I would have asked for all the sauces off and only lettuce and tomato if it comes with it, so I'm happy I saved money. I had my own water with me (tap water from home).
