Great specs at this price for a sleek and portable laptop. Comes with Ryzen 5500u 6-core CPU, Wifi 6, FHD touch display.
Also, for $100 more there is 5700u version with 512gb storage. Link: https://www.binglee.com.au/products/asus-tm420ua-ec087t-vivo…

Yeah, but it can be upgraded later upto 16gb.
It would be hot if it was 16GB/512GB with $799
It would be REALLY hot if they, like, gave them away for free. #Seriously
I have had a not so good experience with ASUS in the last so would try and steer clear of it.
I've had great experiences with Asus. What issues did you have?
I bought an official refurb asus flip notebook inearly 2019, it's not only been rock solid, but I've easily upgraded the ram & hdd. One of my kids has one of these for school and it's been working well.
Where does it say this is a Ryzen 5000 processor? This is most likely a 4000 series. Model number in description is TM420UA https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-Home/Vivobook/Vivobook-Flip…
This model is TM420UA-EC086T and jbhifi is also selling it and they mention 5500u.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-vivobook-flip-14-ful…The 5500u is essentially a 4600u with an extra compute unit for the iGPU and a new name… It's still a Zen 2 processor.
How does this compare with a Surface laptop go 12.5" for primary school work (excel, some adobe stuff including indesign)
I like how this one is 14" screen and 1.5kg and you can turn the screen all the way around like a pad (can use for practicing instruments)The surface book is bit lighter but screen does not flatten and a bit under powered compared to the Vivobook. The screen probably is better but seems much less powerful. I don't want some thing that struggles to handle a webpage + a excel spread sheet + an indesign file open. (Surface pro go etc are just too small in screen or way too expensive for what I would let a primary kid bring to school).
School didn't list specification for chromebook otherwise it would be good choice.
Price beat at officeworks for 5% off. They sell the exact same model.
only downside is 8gb of ram else a killer price.
