Charging 50%+ over RRP on a Pokemon Celebrations ETB… don't think 5% off is going to make much of a dint to that. Shame a retail store is engaging in price gouging.

    • That's a shame - gameology are generally one of the more competitively priced options for board games.

Fair enough - can't comment on their other product ranges as I'm not familiar, but the Pokemon TCG stuff is worse than scalper prices!

I've consistently found them to be one of the more expensive retailers for board games.

Been hanging out for Great Western Trail 2nd edition and they're the most expensive Aussie store according to Board Game Oracle out of 9 other stores and that's with a discount of 12% on their listing: https://www.gameology.com.au/products/great-western-trail-bo…

I've seen that they list some of their games on Amazon AU too, and sometimes they're cheaper on there compared to Amazon and other stores with Prime shipping

Yeah same, I've bought from their Amazon store and got free shipping instead of paying $10 to get shipped from their store.

        are they?

In that case OP would be happy to point out specific bargains?

I'll point an example as to a specific game that was posted here recently https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/660627 was on special for $48

Gameology have it for $68 that is nearly $20 more
even factoring the 10% off at $61.15 I would hardly call that limited price competitive

      • Ouch, not sure why I was downvoted here, for a fairly benign statement. I'm veyr price conscious, and ALWAYS check board game oracle for the cheapest shipped price from an Australian store (excluding gamerholic). All I meant from my previous comment was that gameology often come up as literally the cheapest option for hobby board games (I don't okay TCGs). Sometimes cheaper through their ebay store though.

    Yeah… price gouging, not cool

Check comparative store prices before you buy. Some of their products are at reasonable prices and worthwhile with the discount, while others are outrageously over priced and taking advantage of buyers!!

I've ordered from Gameology several times in the past and have always had excellent customer service. Would definitely recommend to people if you find a bargain.

Do you have any examples of bargains for this sale? I don't buy as many games as I used to, but I think you always had some good prices, at least on some products, even with paying for shipping.

  • Looking at pokemon booster boxes, they're overpriced by more than 10% so no deal

  • Been monitoring their products on web for awhile and can see the constant inflate of price in a short period of time!

  • From what I've checked, items I'm after are cheaper elsewhere

  • Definitely seen some things have gone up since announcement of the sale.

Yeah, make sure you do your price research here. Others have pointed out the Pokemon TCG and some board game stuff, I see the some colour variants of the Ultimate Guard Deck Cases for $3.45 (after current 31% discount), whilst Amazon have them for $2.95 for the past year

  • Agreed that some products are over rrp, no deal

  • I guess it depends on what you’re after. I just preordered the stretch goals for Nemesis Lockdown for $106 because I missed the whole kickstarter. I then purchased a few smaller games like Royal Visit $30, Land vs Sea $27, sticker set for Gloomhaven FOTL $12 and a Citadel contrast paint for $6 and I’m happy.
I agree it sucks when any store tries to sell something above RRP and that would’ve been disappointing, I’m just glad my items all stayed at the prices I had seen them at yesterday.

    • price changes might've happened awhile ago when they first announced it. I noticed a small product I bought a few months ago is up 34%. That is quite the surge in such a short time

  • Time Spiral Remastered Draft Booster Box for $227.95 + 10 bucks shipping seems like a good deal for cardboard crack. But yeah I agree prices are hit and miss.

  • Make sure you check prices on Board Game Oracle
Gameology used to be quite competitive on prices, but I have found them much less so lately.

Someone's gotta pay the rent for their new Brunswick store lol
