Do you have unclaimed money? I just found $200!

Hi all,
Obviously we are all on OzBargain because we are tightarses so here are some links some of you might enjoy!!

https://www.edge.asic.gov.au/unclaimed/simplequery.html
https://www.e-business.sro.vic.gov.au/eBusiness/UnclaimedMon… (select all states to search nationwide, not just Vic)

I just did this and found $200, just need to get a certified copy of my drivers licence and a bill showing I lived at this address and it's mine! Anyone else suddenly a few hundred dollars richer?

It's abit upsetting when you don't have any unclaimed money.

On the other hand, if you are the type to have unclaimed money, you would be the type to lose car keys, forget to pick up your dry cleaning, etc. etc.

    • Agree, with GP.

Maybe look at it this way, its probably more comforting knowing you haven't left money around, and being a bargain hunter that's a good sign you are frugal and careful

    • It's abit upsetting when you don't have any unclaimed money.

Especially when you know full well it's there but can't find it. The interest on those school savings accounts is still accumulating.

  • I just found $1000 000 unclaimed money. All I needed to do was send in my ABN and bank details. Simple as that

You got scammed man, I got $36m. :)

    • I found $1m just by digging into the crevices of my sofa. It's amazing how much money you can find in your own home!

Is that where you hide the monopoly money so you can conjure them in the middle of a game to buy that hotel you always wanted?

      • I would put that back incase of trouble. If they are hiding a million, who knows what will happen.

  • Found $66.40 that my Father In Law is owed. Nice post.

BTW for the "dodgy" type comments these are govt websites.

And this is a forum post, which is a quite appropriate place to post this info

  • Found $26. Thanks OP!

  • I found $1600 that my wife's cousin is owed:). Pity I can't charge her a finder's fee:(.

  • For NSW residents, the NSW Office of State Revenue (OSR) has a separate unclaimed money search facility (different database to SRO)…

  • Found $1300 for my sister!

    $125 for dad!

    And $25 for me!

    THANKS!!

2 dollars!! not bad, almost 7 maccas soft serves

  • Victorian site found me monies, but nothing from the WA site

  • Thanks, found $44.00!

  • $240 for me. Awesome find, thanks!

  • Found $90 for my mum… although she doesn't think it would be worth the hassle to claim. Is it possible to claim for her (into her bank acc) if she provides me with relevant details do you think?

    • Why does she think it will be too much hassle? Does it require a lot of paperwork? Just give it a go, I don't think there should be much expense to claim.

      • Thats my point… Not as much as a bargain hunter as me.. I have offered to do it for her but i don't know if its possible

        • I can't imagine it would be more hassle than contacting the entity holding her money and asking what would be adequate proof of identity to get a refund.

It may not be as hard as you think. For years Telstra owed me about $30, the balance of a service deposit. It was useful to me for a while as I got some discount or other for still being a customer. Eventually that expired and I decided to get my money back. I sent them an email using their web page, a rep replied and said they could refund by direct deposit if I gave them my account number. And they did just that.

  • I found $49 for myself and a couple of thousand outstanding for my mum, so a very big thanks to the OP on this post.

  • I just found $32 for my Grandfather who has been dead for 20 years.
