Probably the best all round use lens in the panasonic micro 43 line up. Decent speed, relatively small size, useful focal length, great IQ and with a reasonably price tag - kind of encapsulates the spirit of the micro 43 system. The mk II is compatible with both dual IS and dual IS 2, and still offers in lens OIS for older bodies.

At least $100 cheaper than grey imports and $130 less than the next AU stockist.

Agree this is best lenses for this type of m43 cameras.the result was really sharp and clear and blurry background is easy to get..autofocus aswell.if i choose 1 lense for my camera it will be just this one for the rest of my life

    • Another one I'd recommend if you can only take one lens on trips is the Lumix Leica DG Vario 12-60mm f2.8-4.0. The range (24-120mm in full frame term) is very versatile for almost all occasions while image quality is one of the better ones in its class. Speaking from experience using it on both Lumix and Olympus bodies, and also having owned a Zuiko Pro 12-40mm F2.8.
A mint used one usually go for around $650-700.

    Dang that’s a good price

  • My 2 cents. I have this one, it broke - does not focus at focal length above 14mm and Panasonic does not want to fix it even for money as they do not like the ebay store I bought it from (it is out of warranty and I was willing to pay for repair). And no other third party repairer wants to touch this rare animal. In a similar situation Olympus just fixed a lens.

Interesting. My 14-45mm lens, which cost $20 second hand and is at least 10 years old, has been used so much that the print markings (14-45) have rubbed off, but still works perfectly.

  • At this price I'd go a mint condition voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 for $800-$900 all day, every day.

    • not exactly a zoom lens is it?

    • Even Sunday?

      • Especially Sunday

  • I have the original which sadly didn't get a firmware update to support the new linear focus feature in the GH5ii, GH5S and G9. This one did though.

  • This doesn't seem to be supported by the older GH4 from that link, is that true?

  • This is a reasonable lens,
Personally, I prefer the Olympus 12-40 mm Pro F2.8 but, given its considerably more expensive, this is a great alternative if you are looking for a lens that is a little more fiscally responsible.

  • I bought this at $619 from Camerapro last year. Great deal that time.

I love the lens. Very versatile. My favorite micro four third is 25mm 1.4 and this one. Highly recommend this for everyone with MFT system.

  • Would the lens image stabilisation work on non Panasonic cameras such as the Yi M1 and Olympus EM-10?

  • What would you guys say is the BEST travel micro 4 thirds for Lumix cameras?

    • This one. If you need to bring only one lens for your trip, this would be the one.

      • Already have this one 😬 (well the version which came out when the camera launched)

        • Otherwise, 12-60mm lumix Leica.
The appeture is not fixed but bright enough and very sharp.

But for me, fixed appeture is preferable. That is why I like 12-35mm 2.8.

For street photo, I use 25mm 1.4 Leica.

        • The Leica 12-60 as per my comment. I find the extra reach very handy. I can take photos from dawn to sunset (typical day trips). Night time and low light indoor sightseeing, I’d use a Leica 12mm f1.4.
