Looking for one that will numb my gums before cleaning. Oh, and also do a good job with the clean.
The ones I have last visited skimp on the numbing and I am in pain for days.
Sydney location.
Recommendations please. 🙏🏾

I don't know if any would numb for a normal clean. Periodontist do for a deep clean but a normal dentist clean is just poking and proding areas that should already be desensitized due to flossing and use of piksters so there shouldn't be a need nor should there be pain

LOLOL!
I don't think it's normal for dentists to numb before cleaning and also don't think it's normal for you to be in pain for days after cleaning.
According to my dentist, the pain some people feel after a cleaning is due to tooth sensitivity, normally due to recessed gums. The clean will remove any tartar that was ironically protecting you from pain, and my dentist reckons even an inflamed gum could shrink, resulting in new sensitivity. If you regularly use toothpaste for sensitive teeth, the cleaning can also unplug the filled tubules, reversing the efforts of the paste.
For some relief you can simply rub on Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief, which is meant to be instant. Unfortunately, I don't think applying it before dental work would help as much once the surrounding tartar and filled tubules are scraped.
When you get more invasive dental work like a filling, you can also get pain from inflamed dental pulp.
Numbing is certainly not a standard part of a normal scale & polish in my experience (being the one on the dental chair). If that's important to you, perhaps you can ask if that's something they can do when you make your next appointment and make a special request for that (won't harm reminding the dentist when you get there since it isn't a typical part of the procedure).
