Interior Cleaning Products for New RAV4?

Howdy,

Just wondering what OB would use to clean/protect the interior of a RAV4 Hybrid?
It has leather seats and dash/trims (not sure if real leather?).

Cheers

  • It has leather seats

Are you sure? Pretty sure they are quality plastic. The asterisk on the specification data will tell you if it is or isn't leather.

Any branded interior cleaning product will suffice.

Nice flex by the way. How long did you wait for delivery?

Leather accented, just depends which part of the seat (ie back of the seat will be fake)

Even the official definition is lame and lacking details.

I believe that roughly translates to, "this is not leather, but we want you to think it's leather so you buy it, but when you find out it's not leather you won't be able to sue us".

      • So I guess the dash isn't leather either then?

About 3 months. Got it back in May.

  • TBH, the make / model of the vehicle is irrelevant. What is relevant is if the interior is leather or not, as you would likely use different products on those.

nah you need to use the special RAV4 cleaning products sold by the dealer, its especially designed for your particular cars (based on the date it was made), cost 20k a bottle

i can source some, gimme the date and hour it was made and model, send by bank transfer and i send it, stuck in a oil rig will take a few weeks to send, trust me

so you dont do it know, the car becomes a write off instantly

Just watch out for the roof racks on the base model :)

Depends if it has a roof rack for a kayak

    Microfibre cloths and some water.

Your "leather" seats are just a fancy synthetic called SofTex.

    • No, Softex is only in the Edge, not the Cruiser

Cruiser is leather accented, ie a mix depending on which part of the seat

        Today I learned. Thanks.

I have a 2020 Cruiser FWD Hybrid and I just wipe the seats clean with a damp cloth. IMHO, not worth investing $$$ in soft surface protection, cleaning chemicals etc It's just a bloody Toyota.

(Aside: When I picked up my car, the salesman walked me to the car draped in a red cloth and asked "So you must be pretty excited?!". I replied, "Mate - it's a Toyota RAV4 - not a Bugatti or McLaren." His shoulders slumped further when I declined the invitation to do the grand reveal, stating "I know what it looks like, remember - it's the one that you showed me on the showroom floor on Saturday.")

        • There may be a new model coming with Sportex seats…

I use a microfibre cloth and 303 protectant but my car is not a RAV4, just a lowly Suzuki Swift.

    • Not even a hybrid but thanks for your contribution anyway.

    • +1 for 303 protectant.
I use the 3 in 1 leather cleaner on my audi and it works well, removed smells and brought the leather back.

Misso perked up when she heard of its penetrative ability

Hard plastics just microfibre cloth for dusting, dampen the cloth if necessary. For leather (fake, coated or real) areas Bowdens Own Leather Love and Leather Guard.

Second this. Bowden's Own products are good, and they are regularly on 25-30% sale at either Repco or SCA.

You don’t need wonder products. Bit of water and a soft cloth. Baby wipes work OK too.

    • This.

  • Cheers all. :)

Get a brush to brush dirt off the leather and out of the seams of the seats. A damp cloth should suffice for anything else. Micro-fibre to dust off the rest of the interior. No heavy cleaning products should be required.
