Paid movie / doco on the life of influential artist Hokusai could be interesting for those who know his famous block prints (eg The Great Wave).

But will wait for SBS /ABC to broadcast it. ABC showed the 2017 British Museum & NHK doco Hokusai - Old Man Crazy To Paint last month.

Same with other films - will likely be free ob SBS… sometime.

Ahh just realised Tokyo Revengers (paid ticket) is sold out in Sydney. I knew it was popular, but didnt expect it to be sold out that quick. Ah well.

    • Brisbane is only one left & "selling fast".

    • I'm sad it's sold out in Melbourne too :(

Should've looked at booking earlier. Oh well!

Not one of the free online ones but Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy is one of the best films of the year, I reckon.

I watched Dance With Me during last year's JFF. It was hilarious.

  • I had no idea that there's something like this going on, seems nice. But what's the point in watching here when you can probably find the same shows on the high seas? Is it only the extra Q and A with some movie staff?

The Great Passage was the opener of JFF several years ago, and I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Who knew a film about the creation of a dictionary could be so engaging?

    • Will stream on your recommendation👍
Dictionary production takes a certain character & team.

There has been a film "The Professor and the Madman" - based on the wonderful book `The Surgeon of Crowthorne' by Simon Winchester. Compiling words for the first edition of the Oxford English Dictionary in the mid-19th century.
Loved the book. Saw the film in a free screening. (Its OK)

      Current Deal on Audible:
The Dictionary of Lost Words could be an interesting tale. And a different perspective on dictionary production.

    • That movie was amazing!

Wasn't this the festival that featured Detective Conan a few years ago?
