  • can i use giftcards to reload the Woolworths Everyday Money Prepaid MasterCard ?

    https://www.everydaymoney.com.au/edm/wps/portal/money/!ut/p/…

  • These cards fit in with my usual spending habits, so the extra 5% off is great.

Woolworths Limited loves you guys. All your money up front and earning interest straight away and all they have to do is give you 5% off.

    • LOL so true

    • +11

Its not our money its Amex's VISA's or MC's money.

I pay nothing for 55 days

in the mean time i get 3 points for every dollar i spent for these cards plus 5% off

      Win Win

$150 per week for groceries + a full tank of petrol per week. Its not going to take long to use up the cards.

    • +4

Woolworths is counting on the cards being lost, not being completely used, expired, etc, apart from the usual 'we get your money now, you buy stuff later'.

The other big benefit for Woolworths is they know customers are locked into shopping at their stores.

      Still, I love this offer.

    • +1

Yep, business financing rates are around 20%!

      • Not for big corporates. I think it's more in the vicinity of 7 to 10%. Woolworths recently had a bond selling for that amount.

  • And would you get 2x reward points if you used a woolies credit card I wonder?

    • I don't think you would get even 1 x reward points.

  • is it working with Woolworths Everyday Money Prepaid MasterCard ?

  • dink

  • Thanks OP. Bought 2x $250 card.

  • -1

There's always limited quantity… Red conditions, always states until sale until date or sold out, never infinite quantity

  • Has anyone ordered from the site before? How long do they take to be delivered? (Melbourne)

  • -4

I can't find any mention of 5% off at everydaygifts. Does that kick in at the checkout with every purchase of a card, or is it only a function of code RACQ?

  • Woolworths currently have the three 'top deals' on the right side of the page. Impressive.

  • Every time I try and click the tick for this deal it just sits there and keeps trying 'www.facebook.com' wtf!?

  • +1

I ordered $1000 worth of giftcard last Monday and it took 4 days to be delivered by courier

    • Awesome. Hopefully mine get delivered before the weekend.

  • Thanks so much. Been looking for something like this since my infinite rewards membership (another ozbargain deal) expired.

    • better than infinite rewards- free postage, no CC surcharge.

    • +1

      LOL, "infinite rewards expired"!!

  • Nice deal

  • +1

Thanks! Ordered $500 using my 0% interest ANZ visa card, no need to pay for it until July ;)

    • I was too scared that it was going to be treated as a cash advance and thus ruin my special 5 month discount rate.

  • Just filled up at woollies which was 137.9 so with my 4c off brings it to 133.9 then this deal being 5% would make it 127.2.
It's worth it for the fuel alone.

    • +1

Petrol was $158.95 on my way to work this evening in Melbourne. Savings immediately eaten by increased petrol prices.

  • +2

This is very good for small business, time to stock up soft drink, bacon, ice cream…all this stocks are cheaper than distributor, I just bought $10000 worth of cards…yippee I will spend that in 2 months…

    • Wow. Nice one.

I hope you are buying all this with a points earning card. 10k is about $60 worth of frequent flier etc points.

Someone mentioned this offer is available to people with an entertainment book. I entered the promo code "entertainment" and it also gives 5% off. So this is obviously an all year round offer.

    • Yeah, that was me. But people thought I was saying you get the same deal if you have an Entertainment Book.

  • am I right to presume the free delivery is for a limited time?

  • One concern I have with this deal: residual balances on cards. If I have $50 left on my card, and I want to buy $100 of groceries, can I easily split the purchase? Will the Woolies teller be able to tell me what the balance is on the card, and soak it all up? Or is using the last small amount on the card a pain?

Maybe Woolies are banking on people being unable to spend the last $25 (i.e. 5%) on their $500 card.

    Can anyone comment on this?

    • Yes, agreed . It is a hassle sometimes with these gift cards such as prepaid credit cards. You need to know your balance otherwise if it is more than your purchase price it will not go through. (have to check online the balance to use all of the balance on the card….) Most of the time you can split the payment.
However some companies with their own card may be able to check for you and some will write the balance of the card for you.

      • I just use the notes app on the iphone to keep track of my balance. Check the receipt whenever you pay for something to see the remaining balance. You can also check online for those times when you stuff it up.

All woolies merchants will split the payment for you. This includes online merchants such as dick smith and dan murphys.

By the way, these wish cards can be used to purchase from woolies properties online ;-)

      • You get the balance on your receipt, just write it on your card afterwards

      • The stores where I use them usually have little yellow stickers at the checkouts, so they stick one on and write the remaining balance after you use it.

    • Yes, if you can't be bothered checking up online, the check-out staff should be able to check what the balance is and they can help you "soak it all up" too.

    • +2

It keeps the balance on the card, when you pay for something it shows the balance on the screen and on the receipt. If you have only $5 left and try to use it for $25 worth of stuff, it declines but shows the balance. So you just go again with the exact amount and pay the rest on another card\cash\eftpos.

Anyone who shops, buts petrol or buys alcohol should get these. It's built into the price anyway, so your just getting 5% margin back. Most staff clubs of large companies also get this discount (I get 5% off all the time, same with Coles, Myer, JB Hifi, Drummond Golf, Country Road, and some are higher like 8% at Freedom etc.) Nothing special but kudos to OP for alerting everyone to a public offer of such.

    • Yes easy to do. If you don't know balance will tell you and can split payment.

  • Good deal but I'd rather buy wish cards with my Amex platinum edge card and get x3 points. I wonder if this site gives me x3 points? That would be a killer deal.

    • x3 points are generally worth about 1.6% discount. Buy these with your visa to get 1x points instead for a total discount of 5.5%ish. Much better than amex card.

      • depends on how you use the points m8. My most recent redemption was ~ 33% back.

Why would you buy wish cards at woolies? just pay as per normal with your amex plat? unless you are actually gifting them ;)

        • Because you can use wish card at other stores that don't give you 3x points.

        • Didnt know you could get 3 points buying gift cards, TBH i never tried. But it didnt work for me in coles so i just assumed likewise. Sounds like Woolies is better then :)

      • If you buy gift cards with your points you may be right. But if you convert them to airline miles 3000 points can take you much further than 50 bucks can ( based on $1000 wish card purchase)

        • +2

Serious? $50 can get me from Brisbane to Sydney during a sale. How far can 3000 points get me?

  • -1

Bankwest card had 10% off a month ago bought over $10000 worth thats a good $1000 saved

    • +1

Serious? 10% is a ridiculous bargain. Did it get posted?

  • That's great. I'm going to buy an ipad 3 and take it overseas. But now it's deciding which ipad 3 i need. Is 16gb enough, do I need 4g and what colour. decisions decisions

  • Great deal, thanks OP. I have now maxed out my Jetstar Platinum in 3 weeks and got the 30000 QFF points!

  • Seems to require min $50 purchase to apply the discount

    • +1

Yes $50 minimum purchase for discount.
Can purchase a few cards to make up the $50.
Can put pretty well add any amount between $5 & $500 on any Woolies own cards.

[My elderly Father can not do his own shopping when I am not around, and gives a carer a signed blank cheque as the only way to pay. Now have set him up with a few of these cards. Much more secure & he saves 5%. He can give a $50 gift card for his usual shopping which is under that value.]

  • Got 2 $325s to get the 32GB iPad, hope Dick Smith has stock.

    • big w is way cheaper than Dick Smith… also earn 20 frequent flyer point aswell

    • +3

If you have a credit card that comes with extended warranty, you might prefer that payment option instead of saving 5%.

  • Is registered post or courier also free delivery? Wouldn't want to loose these in normal post :(

Keep in mind that gift cards rank lower than cash if the company issuing goes into receivership (which is highly unlikely to happen to Woolworths).

    • Always something to consider when buying gift cards, but can't see Woolies going under any time soon!

      • Said the same thing about one of the big 6 (5?) now 5 (4?) accounting firms. Arthur Andersen ring any bells?

  • Thanks for posting this! Just bought 2x$500 card.

    • +1

Hope you are keeping these cards in a safe location!

  • Can we get Frequent Flyer points by firstly buying the gift cards, and then again when we buy stuff in store?

    • no Frequent Flyer points by buying the gift cards

      • I thought no FF points by paying using gift cards, ie. you get them upfront when you buy the gift cards.

        • No Woolies Everyday Rewards option at purchase of card. But you get the points when you buy your groceries etc - the payment option does not affect the Everyday Rewards points. I use so many free Woolies gift cards & always get the points with purchase.

  • Thanks Op. Now has anyone got the same deal for Coles Group & Myer gift cards? If so, that would pretty much cover 80% of my spend for the entire year.

    • myer has a 10% off gift cards in december every year

      • Think he wants coles myer not just the myer one… But yea, that end of year 10% one is pretty nice…

  • New entertainment book (12/13) holder can buy Wish Gift card any time with 5% off.

    • Can you pay by credit card though? Free delivery?

      • Credit card is the only payment option. Delivery will be free.

        • From Coles gift card delivery experience, it usually takes one week, which is quite normal.

      • It's through the same site as this deal, just a different code ("entertainment"), so conditions are identical - can pay with Amex, free delivery, etc.

    • And wait 2 months for delivery.

    • So how does it work for the Entertainment book, is there a code to use?

  • "No promo valid"
    sames missed again :(

    • Working for me

      • works now. server been ozbargainized just now?

        • "Ozfisted" - when a server crashes as a result of an unusually large penetration of ozbargainers into a network causing it to fail.

  • I just noticed that you can buy gift cards at 5% off through infinite rewards (signed up free through here awhile back), however postage is $0.55, therefor this is better, so just for future reference.

  • Nice I have a 2nd ipad 3 on lay-by at bigw atm so I can use $400 of these cards instantly as soon as I get em. Cheers

  • Keep getting "No promo valid" error when using the code.

    • Try "entertainment"

      • Yeah both codes are dead :(

        • Expired

  • Got one $500 card for my fuel purchases, should last a "few weeks". As for buying any electrical items, good idea to use a Credit Card (Gold Card, etc) with purchase/extended warranty insurance if you have one. Thanks OP.

  • +4

As a RACQ member, now this has been OBed & code no longer works, we have lost a membership discount that I was regularly using. So members paying for this benefit have lost it to those not paying for it. Pissed off I now have to pay more for groceries due to OB!!!
(First time I have seen a downside to OB.)
Guess RACQ/Woolies should have ensured was available only to members.

    • +1

They'll probably quietly introduce it back at some point.

      • Shh! No one else would have thought that.
Or have link on the members site.

  • This code working for anyone right now?

    • +1

      Can't you read?

      • +1

        Nope, I can't.

        • +2

How did you read that? :-) Expired

  • +2

racwa still works, but you get $0 discount. Hahahaha…

  • Maybe there is a daily or 24 hour limit. This is meant to be a benefit for RACQ members as listed on their website, so I can't imagine this just disappearing:

    http://www.racq.com.au/membership/member_discounts/syc_and_s…

So might be an idea to try this again in a few days time

  • More likely than not, the people running the site noticed a massive surge in sales, which rang alarm bells as they thought the site was being subject to fraudulent activity. Once it's been reviewed and somebody there realises the codes were posted on OzBargain, things will probably go back to normal.

After all, they've just pocketed a buttload of money on this, and once the deal falls off the front page and people start to forget about it, things will go back to normal, relatively speaking.

I mean, what else are they going to do that won't piss off legit RAxx and Entertainment Book customers?

    • True. Any administrator would be alarmed by OBers!
But they may just provide a link in the members login areas, to verify membership in future. I would like to get the membership benefits I paid for.

  • Is not working
