It's happened to me a few times previously.
Glad this problem will be gone in a few years when they're forced to use USB-C for their devices. Apple can then stick MFI where it belongs.
plenty. But I don't think genuine vs non-genuine makes that much of a difference in reliability.
Not yet. I've been somewhat lucky with junky cables, some are splitters that were free from ~6 years ago. I've also got some weird usb-c to lightning plugs that still work. I'm on an IP 11 atm
Though, I don't think most people can be certain if a cable that stopped because MFI drm or if the cable just crapped out. So take it with grain of salt
MFi is a chip manufacturer pay to make their cable "certified", not to make their cable stronger, although the tendency is leaning towards cheap cable have cheap quality.
I personally take really good care of all my cables, and they all have a very long life no matter if it's cheap or not, and when they eventually die it's more because the connector wears out, not the cable.
my past experience suggest the cable would very likely to die after stepping on the connector(even if the connector isn't bent or anything)
Bought a 5 pack of schitec 200cm cables last November, 3 of them are unopened and the other 2 still work fine.
Buy anker cables. These are one of the best made chargers. Worth the $15-40 depending on length and model
I MFing hate Apple accessories, so flimsy. Why are they such MFers?
