Peak Design Everyday Sling 3L V2 (Black) $127.20 + Delivery ($0 in-Store/ C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

110

Not too often peak Design gear is on special, but JB a has discount on a limited selection of stuff, notably this sling bag. Great if you like to carry a mirrorless or DSLR around and have it a bit protected. Well reviewed bag.

The ideal minimalist 1-camera bag. Great for a single body+lens and a few accessories. Also ideal for essential everyday or travel carry. A sling that's also wearable as a hip bag.

  • Looks nice, but pricey (obviously as all their stuff is.
I’ve used the Oslo from vanguard for some time and it’s served me well.

    • +1

Those Vanguard bags are actually pretty good bang for buck. CRKennedy has a selection on sale too…just $25 for an Oslo 37. I've got a few Vanguard bags.

        • Yeah…I have one of those too. Well…the II version. Most comfortable shoulder/cross body bag I own, but I wish it had a better padding arrangement. I still use it a lot because of the comfort.

As you may be able to tell…I have a camera bag problem.

          • @Banj0: Well, everyone has their "problem", some people buy more shoes than they have to time to wear ;-)

Maybe a new low? Been keeping an eye on this bag for price protection claims and the lowest I saw it go was $129.62.

I like the quality and design of the bag, just for an idea of size I was able to squeeze in a Sony A7III + Tamron 70-180.

    • That is handy to know - some time ago I ended up going for the Alpaka Go Sling over the Peak narrowly and I fit an A7iii + Tamron 28-75, so sounds like the internal dimensions are comparable. Do you happen to like the internal padding on the PD sling? I’d say internal padding against impact would be the single weakness of the Alpaka.

      • +1

I'm not sure how much the padding would be able to take on for the Peak Design either… I guess there'd be only so much you'd be able to fit in a smaller bag. Not sure where you live but I've seen a few on display pre COVID at JB Hi Fi and camera shops around Sydney so might be an option to go in and take a look at it if the shops in your area stock them?

    • Could you actually squeeze it?
I own the same camera and lens… and it’s a damn sight shorter than other lenses that size but still long-ish for most bags

      • Here's pictures of the camera and lens in the V1 5L and V2 3L https://imgur.com/a/JWLXfcv

        • Hot damn.. thanks.
So in the 3L it’s like a solo carrier?

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah i wouldn't be comfortable fitting anything else in the main compartment of the V2 3L, there are smaller pockets/compartments for batteries/accessories.

The V1 5L was able to fit an A7III + Sony 70-200 2.8 GM (though from memory it would have been tight like the Tamron in the 3L).

          • @[Deactivated]: I got a 6L sling and it fits my A7C with Tamron 28-75 plus a Sony 50mm f1.8 if you are looking at dual carry.

    • Does your price protection include discount codes? I picked my 3L Ash Grey for under $120 earlier this year from Digidirect, likely with one of their 20% off sales

      • Ah good price! My price protection coverage has expired now because it has been over 12 months since I bought it. Yeah its the 28 degrees card so it works with general sales like Digidirect usually do but not membership ones (e.g. Ebay plus).

    great bag
but lol that is so low-effort screenshotting jb hifi has done for the product images, low quality and a mouse cursor visible

    • +1

Ha…did they seriously just screenshot their product shots!! I'm sure PD would have been happy to give them stock images.

    I have one of https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/orbis-10l-sling-camera-bag/

Not bad for $29.90 I paid for it.

A sling that's also wearable as a hip bag

    Eshay brah!

  • Would it fit an a7iii with a 24 70 Sigma lens?

Unless I'm missing something and it's not the same product, Peak Design's own website is giving me a total of $125.81 incl tax and shipping to Melbourne for this. Breaks down like this:

    Item Price
    Everyday Sling Ash / 3L $107.71
Shipping AU - Standard Shipping $6.66
    Taxes $11.44
    Total $125.81

Last time I ordered something from them was around 6 months ago, and it arrived in a bit over a week, but shipping has gotten a lot worse since then; YMMV.

It does show the shipping like this; they might have a promo or sale on or something:

    Standard Shipping - $26.94 $6.66

    • I'm getting the same price and breakdown for Sydney

    • +1

Plus international credit card fees and two week shipping lead time.

Or…walk into your local JB store and buy one at the advertised price.

      • Which is why I didn't neg!

        • OKAY!!!!!11111oneoneone!

  • It’s a very nice bag

I'd recommend the Lowepro Passport Sling III, best bang for bucks, around $29.95 C&C or + delivery at Teds. RRP $139, around $75 at some camera stores. Lowepro is also a high quality brand and usually not cheap.
I have the series I for 10 years that would not die so I can upgrade. It can take a full frame with a 24-70 zoom lens, plus another zoom lens, plus a water bottle, plus an Insta360 One R camera on a stick.

Cheers for this. Grabbed one from their ebay store (free shipping for ppl with ebay plus).

  • Peak Design's lifetime warranty might count for some people - there are stories of people with issues years later and no longer a receipt and they simply got shipped a new one from PD no questions asked, replaced with newer model if the original is no longer available.

I picked up this bag from Digidirect for $120 during a sale and I got my 6L for about $150ish from the Rushfaster Outlet, so there's those options if you're patient.
