I am sure this has been asked before, but what is the actual reason why NBN providers only offer 6 month introductory deals?
I know if I was an NBN provider, I would prefer to keep a customer and make a smaller profit, rather than having them churn out and making no profit.
The only thing I can think of, it that NBN Co themselves have some special wholesale offer that they pass on the provider, that itself only applies to the first 6 months….. but that just raises further questions, such as what would be in it for NBN Co to make that offer.
nbn cuts the wholesale AVC cost for 6 months to test the market, make more money when users stay on the faster plan after 6 months and give a rebate to ISPs. At least 3 alternative wholesale pricing models are being looked at.
