All you needed to do was click on the link…

Its legit the first thing in the description.

      • What is the price?

        • +3

It's about 3 potatoes and a side of broccoli.

          • +2

@Avacardooo Rayy Mee: I don’t have any broccoli, what’s the conversion from sides of broccoli to potatoes?

            • +1

@ATangk: You can't directly convert this. you must convert broccoli to bitcoin then to dogecoin, before going to potatoes. Market rates apply so it coild be almost anything.

      • This is literally what I have to deal with every time I list something up for sale lol

  • This one or A2000 for 129$? DRAM is the main differentiator. (Read/Write speed is nearly same)

Description says old gen , maybe from non tweaked ones?

    • Where are you seeing an A2000 for $129

    • +1

They're close enough in performance that I would just get the cheaper one.

Of note however is that the SN550 uses SDRAM and in terms of long-term performance is still comparable to a SSD with DRAM like the A2000, trading blows depending on use case.

  • Does it work with ps5

    • +5

      Nope, it’s PCIe 3.0 NVMe, PS5 needs PCIe 4.0

    • not as native expansion. but can do with normal expansion to store ps4 games or backup

  • +1

    So how the warranty work?

    • +2

      It doesn't.

  • Can someone tell me if this will fit into a ASRock b550m pro4 motherboard that already has a crucial mx500 SATA 3 SSD?

    • +2

Yes your board has 2 pcie m.2 slots

      • Thanks mate!

        • Remember that using one of those M.2 slots disables 2 of your sata ports. Make sure that your current SSD is not on one of those sata ports

  • Good drive to upgrade an older MacBook Pro with

  • Noob question. If I buy one of these, I can then install it into an Asus ROG Strix Arion M.2 NVMe RGB SSD Enclosure and it will operate like an external SSD? Am I missing something?

    • +1

Yes although sometimes enclosure controllers vary in performance.

      • Thanks!

    • Do you already have the enclosure? If not then I'll suggest you just spend a little bit more and get an external SSD. Much less complications and more reliability

  • Thx OP bought one

  • will this be compatible with lenovo thinkpad x270?

  • Noticed that the Kingston A2000 1TB is back in stock for $119.55, also from Amazon UK. Is it worth paying an extra $4 for the A2000 over the SN550? Would also note that the A2000 has a longer delivery time.

    • Can you please put the link? Maybe it's the NV1 version

    • "In stock on December 19, 2021. Order it now."

      • Yes, my mistake - it's not currently in stock and is a pre-order.

    • I'd say yes, if anything to avoid the Russian roulette of the SN550s.

      Edit - just ordered 2 A2000s.

  • In stock December 19th.

  • so, this model WD SN550 blue is lower range of SSD with slower R/W speed compared to others? It says 5yr warranty although i'm not sure how you going to claim from UK seller

  • Apologies but I am not tech savvy. Will this work to upgrade my super old (but still works for me) MacBook Air? My model is:

    https://support.apple.com/kb/sp700?locale=en_AU

    • +1

As far as I can tell, it uses a PCI-E 2.0 interface, which means you wont get the full speed that this SSD provides. If you can share the exact model number I might be able to give you a more specific answer, as it looks like there were a few variations.

      • Thank you! I have a model identifer of: MacbookAir6,2

        Is that what is required?

        • There will likely be something a bit more specific on the bottom of the laptop. Look for Model No or something

I didn't bother mentioning the possible nand change, as I thoughT someone would of already.

    Just an FYI to all:
Silent changes to Western Digital’s budget SSD may lower speeds by up to 50% [Updated]

    • is there any one here got new version to compare? mine is manufactured on 21st July 2021 but it has old NAND

      • What is your SN550 firmware version? 211070WD or 233010WD?

        • I ordered late August and got SanDisk 060523 1T00 + 211210WD firmware, DOM: 21JUL2021, made in Malaysia.

@bazingaa: Here's an update for you guys.

Thanks Bazingaa for your information and posting the original deal, I got one from you post and one from this post.

The one from your one was same as yours(2 days later) 211210WD firmware, DOM: 23JUL2021, made in Malaysia.

The one I just got from this deal: SanDisk 060945 1T00, 211210WD firmware, DOM: 21SEP2021, made in Malaysia.

Left was the results of the SSD from July. Middle was the first test of the SSD from Sept. Right is second test (third was about the same too) of the Sept SSD.

Strange how the read for the first column dropped so dramatically, not sure why. but slight improvements for the rest?
