Anyone that is looking for Airpods (3rd Generation) can get it at $255.55 via Officework's price beat policy. Seems like there is plenty of stock.
This is through price matching the online store Studio Proper, which is selling it at $269.00 as opposed to $279.00 at Officeworks.
They don't. I tried it in-store and by calling them when Airpods Pro came out in 2019 but they were aware of this website and they don't do it for pre-order items
In store locations it says studio proper sell there products at OW stores. Not sure if you would get a price beat
I don’t get why AirPods are so expensive. I bought the recently advertised Soundpeats earbuds for $50. They connect to my iPad/iphone instantly. Haven’t disconnected once despite walking all around the house. Sound is superb. Touch controls are perfect. Battery life same as AirPods or better. What would I be getting if I paid an extra $220 for AirPods?

A logo. I will say though, the Airpods Pro are very good with their ANC, maybe the best on the market for small earbuds. But there are better ANC options for the price if you want larger headphones.
2 main reasons (really 1)
1) It’s Apple
2) They are the best option for seamless transition between apple devices (iPhone to iPad to MacBook)
I have galaxy buds + and galaxy buds live (used to be android) but recently got an iPhone 12, iPad mini and some AirPods Pro and the switching between devices automatically is more handy than you’d realise.
They will sound better, will keep working past a few months, they are reliable, they connect faster, they will last longer, battery life is better, case quality is far better. So not much, unless you want to keep them longer than a few months
Because they have excellent ANC features, battery won't be dead in a year, they resell for an equally high price so total cost of ownership is quite low (provided undamaged).

My friend is on his 3rd pair. One lost, one damaged. He’s out about $750 in total. Seems absurd.
You didn't tell your friend about OZB? This is AirPods 3 so there is no way he is on his third pairs. I assume you were referring to AirPods 2. If so, a true OZBer would pay either $99 or $95 from the best OZB deals.
so $99, if you are on Apple eco system, the seamless pairing not only works on iPhones, iPads, but also Macbook Pros.

The $95 deal wasn't posted. It is an alternative to free Galaxy Buds for Telstra customers applying for direct debit (bonus points) deal. Instead of getting that free, an alternative is to pay $95 for the AirPods 2. Most OZBers did prefer free Galaxy Buds. That deal free Galaxy Buds was posted. You do the search yourself.

@netsurfer: These are all very old, eBay plus highly limited deals. Not many people will be fast enough to score these deals. Not everyone has eBay plus. Typical AirPods 2 deal seems to be about $169.
@ForkSnorter: If you are just want to come up with excuses, then there is nothing I can do. I managed to get one of the $99 deals (and the $95 deal).
As for the deals being old, AirPods 2 have been around for quite some time now.
With just 18 + votes on this deal so far, you can tell most OZBers aren't interested in AirPods 3 at this price point.
I've never bought a launch product from Studio Proper before, but on the two times I've used them for other products their dispatch times have been ridiculously slow.
Agree with this, I bought an apple pencil once that took them 2 months to dispatch.
They updated their site about 2 weeks after I bought it to change it to a pre order page, and then barely gave any updates and didn't respond to emails. I haven't bought from them since
I priced matched the CostCo deal with OW earlier in the week (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/659275) and just got notice they're being despatched to me today… came down to $251.74 incl.
Avoid Studio Proper…dispatch took 3 months and never arrived. After some tedious customer service, finally got item 4/12 months from original purchase date
Retailers won't price match items not in stock.
