Can this be combined with the Klarna deal. If yes, Another $100 off !!

  • How does this perform compared to Sony/LG TVs? Thanks.

  • Does TCL 400 CMR = 100hz?

    • No. Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung tech to smooth out motion on the screen.

    • +2

i find Hisense to be quicker on the OS side but TCL has more app functions, if you can tolerate the slower loads. both have great picture quality and brightness, and perform similarly, but at the price point, theyre both really good TVs and massively great value at 3 years warranty. Hisense can be too bright but its really good against glare and you can just tone down the backlight for reduced eyestrain, TCL is similar but not as bright, id go Hisense if you want crazy bright potential.

      • Thanks! Think I would have liked the Q8 more but it's sold out. My current 6 year old samsung is very slow when it first boots and I want something with a bit of gusto.

        • +1

Buy a fire stick for it

        • Or a Google tv (probably not as good value as the fire stick)

  • +1

We mostly watch free to air TV. Wondering who does the best upscaling?

I also noticed TCL are the most energy efficient rated TVs. But they aren't the brightest, so assume this just means the backlights are set lower by default?

  • Is that the full model id? Has it been reviewed on rtings.com?

  • +3

Wish it had hdmi 2.1 otherwise good tv good find op

    • Probably about 5 years away for hdmi 2.1 at this price point in Australia anyways. USA get all the features years ahead and for cheaper.

  • I wish there was a 65" one.

  • +2

    Cheers… I couldn't resist at this price..

nice little upgrade from my TCL 65X7

    • Same here - upgrading from the 65X7 :)

      • +2

        Glad you guys grabbed it.

Not sure if can convince the wife we need another TV.

        • Sorry to hear it's that kind of relationship

  • +6

I bought the 65 inch version earlier this year (65X10) for $1499. When setting it up, it was in a weird demo mode and I had to go through a lot of different settings to reset it into 'normal' mode. I suspect it was a demo model… even though I specifically asked the JB salesman to make sure it's a new boxed model.

Overall the picture quality is good, gets extremely bright - I have it in a room that has strong sunlight throughout the day and the TV is still clear enough to watch, but of course some reflections are still visible in direct sunlight. Out of the box settings were crap, I put it into 'Movie' mode and adjusted to taste from there.

I have noticed there is some 'dirty screen effect' and vertical banding that becomes apparent during sports games or long panning shots. Minor annoyance depending on how OCD you are about it… I don't mind too much, 4k movies still look great to me on it. I haven't tried gaming on it so can't comment on that.

Free2Air channels in 1080p look good. However the channels are that are still in lower SD resolution look trash… possibly worse than my old HD Soniq TV. But from a distance it's still watchable.

Another negative is the Android operating system - it can get laggy and glitchy with delayed remote button press response times. Occasionally it's so bad that I have to restart the TV. But it's mostly tolerable.

For the price I got it at, it's a good purchase. I am hoping to get the LG C1 eventually as a main home theatre tv.

  • +2

Great price but a lot of complaints on whirlpool. Some even saying high end content is unwatchable due to the colours.

    • Care to link? I follow alot of the whirlpool threads on TVs and I don't recall many complaints at all.. Other than one person with a wifi issue

    • I had a read through that. Most owners are very happy, say the X10 is a great TV, with only a bit of nitpicking here and there. Not sure which reviews you read.

  • Thanks grabbed one and they'll take my old dead Sony TV too! Winnnnn

    • Whats your old sony.
I cant take it off you if your in sydney and give it to a family in need

      • I don't know if a family in need would be able to do much with my dead TV. Needs a motherboard lol

        • Ah ok. Thought it was working lol. Didnt read th4 DEAD part

  • Is this review the same TV? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMsda5ZEyTI

  • If I am after a 75" TV with a budget of up to $2,000, would I regret later if I buy this? In other words, what are better TVs of same size that has dropped to $2K or below when on sale?

    • +1

I'd say the chances of regret would be pretty low given the specs at this price point.

    • +3

This has one of the best black levels for LCDs because of so many local dimming zones. Better than Samsung (other than QN90A) and Sonys and only behind Hisense SX. Processing is just ok as others have said but if you're watching high quality content then its a great TV.

  • +1

I just purchased one for my new house. Thanks for sharing

  • +1

can anyone suggest a good wall mount bracket for this tv? please

    • Selby are lauded by many on here and are reasonably priced. You could also go with a generic ebay one (TV's are only around 50kg these days, so most generic brackets shouldn't be an issue)

  • +1

Comparable with Sony X9000h same size? Or different class?

    • -3

      I would get the X9000H

You don't want a 75inch no frills in your living room

  • I bought a TCLX2 which was their flagship in 2017 and wouldn't touch it at RRP (Paid $1.6K for a 55inch) but for this price it looks a steal.

In saying that I've got a LG OLED CX 55 inch and after seeing OLED picture quality and a super responsive smart system I can't go back.
Just being realistic that getting a 75 inch OLED will cost a kidney

  • I'm surprised they're still taking orders since this model is discontinued. Fingers crossed they're able to fulfilled the orders.

    • +1

That's correct, TCL themselves couldn't fulfil all these backorders, so we had to work closely with TCL to come up with a good solution :)

  • -1

mate got TLC 72 inch for 1200 about a month ago. Apparantly it was 1700 and somekind of 500 off sale. Sadly He Didn't elaborate further.

    • +1

This is their flagship so probably wouldn't be fair to compare.

      • +2

But it's the OzB way to throw out random numbers without any facts to back up statements just to have an opinion, irrespective of how irrelevant it is;)

  • Looks like no more stock!

  • -1

I paid deposit for 75 X95j but kinda has a second thought seeing this deal. Will I see the 2k improvement from X95j? Mainly movies n smart TV, no gaming n want a faster TV too. Thanks

  • Decided to get one.. still using the 55 inch samsung from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228432

  • +1

I made an order on the 12/10 when it was $1840. The price dropped on 13/10 to $1785, then on 14/10 to $1731. then on 15/10 to $1644. I asked if they could refund the sale price difference (down to $1644) and got the following response:
"I can action a refund of the difference, however there is no available stock of the TV itself and unfortunately TCL have discontinued it, so we can not provide the TV to you. If you like we can cancel the order and refund you - or we can switch to an in stock unit."
So not too sure if any of us are getting it, considering my order was on the 12th.

    • Might just be an automatic response to the TV currently being out of stock. Would seem strange if they didn't even have stock on the 12th on continued selling.

      • I hope this is the case

    • The way I read it is… they can cancel your order @ $1840 but are unable to provide you a unit at the reduced $1644 price

That's what I'm hoping.. otherwise surely by now the $1644 people would have been contacted about the TV's availability…. I'll be pretty annoyed if they cancel as they took my money as soon as I ordered it?

Also if they were selling TV's they didn't have or had no way of supplying it's a massive bait and switch

To further add to that.. You contacted them on the 15th requesting the refund and they informed you they couldn't supply the TV.. So if that's the case they left it advertised til the 18th which would we be really dodgy

      • +2

I called them today and they said that their stock is negative 8. The lady was quite lovely however and said she will call the supplier to see if they are sending any and she just emailed me back with the following:
"I'm sorry about the wait. I was finally able to get through to someone however they advised that the item has been cancelled due to discontinuation. I apologise for the inconvenience. We are able to change the product for something else or cancel the order. Let me know how you would like to proceed"

So it seems unlikely that anyone is getting the TV, even my order on 12/10 had no hope of being fulfilled by the sounds of it.

  • +1

on the phone now… not looking good..

It depends on your state basically.. she confirmed QLD is -8 units

Apparently they are going to call me back.. But I'm going to guess very few to none of us are getting the TV
    (I'm in VIC)

  • Why would the deal say out of stock after a few hours (indicating an automated stock count on site) but have -8? If they realised they had no stock, ended the deal, why have we not been notified by now? Seems a bit odd.

    • Maybe they'd like to hold onto your money for as long as possible before returning it

Or hoping you'll change to a more expensive or lesser quality TV once informed of the no stock situation

      • True - sounds more like Harvey Norman. AO is usually a solid company.

  • +6

So appliances Online just called me…

All I'm saying is anyone who ordered the 75X10 that they can't fulfil is going to be friggen happy with their solution

I don't want to jinx the outcome so I'll let you all discover the good news when they call

    • +2

TCL C825… seems like a serious upgrade. Any downsides?

      • +1

Downsides.. not as bright and fewer dimming zones..
But has better Dolby Vision and HDMI 2.1 features.. it's a far better tv for gaming

I probably would have preferred the 75X10

        But I'll settle for a 75C825 for $1644 :)

        • +1

Agreed, I'd have probably preferred the X10 too due to the brightness and more dimming zones but can't be too disappointed with the replacement

        • Not sure if it's a serious upgrade, but I do like the addition of one extra HDMI port, AX wifi.
Also C825 has some extra oomph in the audio department. The built-in speakers and subwoofer are supposedly quite good according to some YouTube reviews. I wouldn't mind to get rid of my existing sound bars if the built-ins turn out to be great - can never have enough decluttering.

In other markets some also suggested it might get an update to Android TV. I'd be blown away if it happens here. Thought I am not keeping my hopes up.

      • Was offered this too.. Was curious to see what people think of the significantly lower number of dimming zones (X10 has 900 vs C825 has 240).
With the lower CMR too (X10 on 400 vs C825 on 200). Would the 400 CMR be a big difference? Would the 200 CMR plus 4k 120Hz on the C825 be better than the X10's 400 CMR? I tried to do my research but I can't seem to find an answer to this. I don't game on console so the VRR/HDMI 2.1 features don't mean much to me.
Would the C825 only show 4k 140Hz on next gen consoles?

        • Yeah the 120hz only really for gaming

Having said that.. I'm sure there are benefits to a panel with a native 120hz refresh rate

The X10 would be the superior movie TV.. but that's now a moot point..

So between the options left.. refund or C825 for $1644 It was a no brainer for me

          • @Megahowler: Great point there Megahowler. I might just get the C825 for $1644 :) Also paid with Klarna so $1544 not bad of a deal.

    • +2

Just got the call and email confirmation for the upgrade to C825. That's a win for me.

      • Same here.

  • What delivery times are people getting? Mine was pushed back until the end of NOV?

    • +1

I got 11th Nov, changed from 5th Nov Metro Melbourne.

Also, without wanting to sound greedy but there is, presumably, also a chance to claim the $200 cashback currently available on the C825?

      • To potentially answer my own question just reviewed the t&c's of the cashback deal and claim must be made within 21 days of purchase/invoice and needs to include a pic of the serial number of the tv. My delivery date of the 11th is 22 days from now……..

        • They have not issued an invoice yet. Might be okay..

          • @[Deactivated]: I got an invoice emailed…

May be a fresh one attached to the TV when delivered though.
Delivery Date hasn't changed for me 11/11/21

      • Cheers, Seems to be a fair range of dates. I got an email saying amended date and a balance owing of $1621.00

      • I was told this morning (by Appliances Online) that the cashback offer wouldn't be applicable for this deal.

        • bugger!

        • Not sure why? Is there something in the terms and conditions that would exclude it somehow? It's through TCL and not Appliances Online

          • +1

@groook: I think it’s because TCL are offering this deal, not Appliances Online, at least that’s what I understood.

    • +1

I got 13th December. Same offer as stated about. 75C825

      • Same, works well for me as we have our settlement on 30th Nov and need to paint the place and organise new antenna/power point install.

        Edit: Adelaide SA

      • +1

Ah damn, apologies for the lengthy wait. I was told that most deliveries would be out by November.

        • Mine was also 13th December. Sucks but hoping it comes a bit earlier crosses fingers

  • For the ones who got the 75C825 upgrade offer, have you received the coupon which it will be used to purchase the 75C825? how long it takes after the call?

    • Yep I got it within 5 mins of the call

      • I've paid with Klarna, they are waiting for the refund to proceed, then they will send the coupon.

    • +1

I got a new order invoice 5mins after the call..

Confirming the model number and balance paid in full

      • Same here. Called back to accept today, left VM and was called back by Payton.

        • So you didn't get a coupon?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: No, just a new invoice for the C825 for the price I paid for the X10 ($1644).

            • @Orrelljet: Right, something has gone wrong with mine, I'll need to give them a call. Cheers.

  • +15

Official Rep comment confirming what most of you have already discovered :)

TLDR: OzB uncovered a pricing error which Appliances Online will honour by upgrading the customers to a newer TCL model at the same price (thanks to TCL)

Please let me explain what happened here.

On Monday 18th October, as our Appliances Online Birthday Sale kicked off, we sold dozens of these 75 inch TCL TVs before we realized we had made a pricing error.

We were completely sold out of our stock and the TV was no longer available on the website.

Over the last few days we have been working closely with TCL to find a way to fulfil these orders and were able to come up with a solution.

All customers that ordered this TV on Monday 18th of October will instead be receiving an upgrade to the latest 2021 model - the 75C825

If customers would instead prefer a refund on their order from Appliances Online, we will also be honouring this.

Please be patient as we seek to fulfil all deliveries of the newer TV - some won't be delivered until November, and as always please help us by leaving a review on the TV and on our service when you receive those review request emails!

    • This is fantastic customer service! +1 from me

  • +3

Doh… how did i miss this one! Well done Appliances Online. Wish i was one of these lucky folks getting the replacement offer.

  • Anyone received there replacement? Mine was scheduled for tomorrow but when I called them to confirm delivery they told me they haven't got it and this is delayed indefinitely - perhaps December or January. My frustration/anger is beyond words! Also to make it worse no one contacted to let me know…. I would have ended up sitting at home waiting around for the whole day tomorrow if I didn't check.

    • Mine has always been December 13, so I guess we'll wait and see.

    • My experience with their customer service so far has been pretty good, surprised no one contacted you.

Anyway I got told that stock is arriving to TCL next week so in a few weeks they'll get it out to AO. This was a classic ozbargain impulse purchase so for me I'm not really fussed when it arrives

      • Yeah normally I wouldn't be to fussed about the arrival time. Just that I've promised to give away my old TV to a friend who needs it. Don't like disappointing other people, that's all, but I am sure his family will understand….
