@DogGunn: A few months. Great. No point segregating society then.

                • @locknuts: Lucky it's only until December 1 then.

                  • +1

@DogGunn: Unless everyone got their second dose in the last 3 months it makes very little sense.

                    • @locknuts: Most people are though.

Regardless, it is clear that it is to entice people to get vaccinated, as well as to stop an overload of unvaccinated hospitalisations. Cases are about to explode as expected.

        • Except that getting vaccinated doesn't stop you from spreading covid.

But does it reduce the likelihood…
You continue to work in absolutes, but unlikely you apply the same to any other medicine or real life safety device.

          • @SBOB: If youre at home, the likelihood of spreading is zero as is your risk.

If you're out and about, the likelihood may be reduced compared to someone doing the same thing, but its infinitely higher than not having any risk at all.

            • @ATangk: Yeah let’s just be cooped up in homes till we die nice idea

            • @ATangk:

If youre at home, the likelihood of spreading is zero as is your risk.

              This!

Tell that to the vaccinated people who are so worried about catching covid.

          • +2

            @SBOB: It's a possibility.

But when you have so many vaccinated people with waning effectiveness, it doesn't make sense to exclude those unvaccinated(especially when they're interacting with each other outside the venue).

Those unvaccinated who have had covid before could be less infectious than those who are vaccinated.

In the end, authorities have already said covid is here to stay(I'd guess most people already knew that) so the likelihood of spreading covid is pointless.

Not even Victoria's long and strict long down is stopping the cases.

        • It does reduce the spread though

          • +1

            @maverickjohn: Possible

But as seen in other countries like Israel and Singapore, cases are surging despite their vaccination rates.

            https://willemvincken.files.wordpress.com/2021/09/e-swkiyxoa…

Good chance if you get covid, it would be from a vaccinated person.

              • +1

                @SteatoLegato: ???

Where does that say cases aren't rising?

                • @ozhunter: Quite clearly cases are going down in Israel lol

                  • @DogGunn: No thanks to vaccines, lol.

                    They probably made it worse.

                    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11030270/redir

                    • @ozhunter: What you presented in that post is not evidence of vaccines causing cases.

Were you serious when you linked that?

                      • +1

                        @DogGunn:

What you presented in that post is not evidence of vaccines causing cases.

                        Didn't say it was.

But with so many more people vaccinated than the same time last year, and yet cases and deaths went up

                        • @ozhunter: Yeah, it might have to do with a more transmissible and possibly more virulent variant circulating…

                          • +1

                            @DogGunn:

it might have to do with a more transmissible and possibly more virulent variant circulatin

Hey…don't bring facts and reasoning to simple one line unbacked claims…it's unfair…

                          • +1

@DogGunn: Or possibly that the vaccines are quite useless in reducing the spread of the current variant circulating.

They could even be making it worse.

                            • @ozhunter:

They could even be making it worse.

It would have been long obvious if the vaccines were making transmissibility worse. They're not.

(p.s. they're not useless in reducing transmissibility)

                              • +2

@DogGunn: Lol, it if it was, they'd spin it and just tell everyone that is a "pandemic of the unvaccinated" even though they are the minority.

And vaccination is the wrong way to look it at, it should be whether you're immune or not.

Excluding people on a virus that is here to stay anyway and that can interact with other people outside the venue is ridiculous anyway, unless your reason is to coerce them.

                                • @ozhunter: Are you lining up to be spat/coughed on so you get your natural immunity?

                                  • +1

@Ughhh: Why would I? Apparently it's already super duper contagious with people breathing with masks on; just imagine without masks.

    • How is that encouraging? Then every human interaction now is encouraging if we take into consideration that vaccinated and unvaccinated have equal chance of getting and spreading. you're just talking BS.

      • +6

Getting more people into closed areas than otherwise would have been if they charged a fee does increase the spread, does it not, at least from the pro-vaxxer perspective.

I think most people will end up getting it, vaxxed or not.

  • How does one become medically exempt?

    • +3

      https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/2021…

Vaccinations may reasonably be temporarily deferred for individuals with some acute major medical
conditions (e.g. undergoing major surgery or hospital admission for a serious illness). Typically, these are
time-limited conditions (or the medical treatment for them is time limited) and therefore temporary exemptions
are considered appropriate. These exemptions are only to be given where a suitable alternative COVID-19
vaccine is not readily available for the individual; all COVID-19 brands must be selected on the medical
      exemption (IM011) form.
      • For an mRNA COVID-19 vaccines this includes: Inflammatory cardiac illness within the past 6
months, e.g., myocarditis, pericarditis, endocarditis; acute rheumatic fever or acute rheumatic heart
disease (i.e., with active myocardial inflammation); or acute decompensated heart failure
      • For all COVID-19 vaccines: ATAGI recommends that vaccination can be deferred in those with PCRconfirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection until complete recovery from the acute illness (which may be up to
6 months), regardless of disease severity. Chronic symptoms following COVID-19 ("Long COVID”) is
not a contraindication to COVID-19 vaccines, but does warrant a clinical discussion with the patient.
      • For all COVID-19 vaccines: Serious adverse event attributed to a previous dose of a COVID-19
vaccine and without another cause identified.

      • +4

Lol, why would they need it if they proven they have natural immunity.

        • What is cool in the 2 Covid states and ACT are opening up because no matter what you say the anti vax people are going to be the ones who are going to be the ones clogging the hospitals .
What is unfair is normal people being blocked from hospital beds because of them .
Don't worry in Perth you will get your opportunity too . McClown can't save your a$$ forever .

      • -1

Thanks for listing out all the negative side effect on the vaccine.

    • -2

On a long run, in Australia? It's literally impossible, impossible.

  • +3

Thanks OP, +1 for the entertainment coming soon in the comment section.

  • +2

i have my 1st shot, so do i get 1/2 price?

    • +2

Nah, only one half of you can enter the building. Still free though.

      • thank you, that's what i figured.
i might wait until i get my 2nd dose so i can be there completely.

  • -2

    Proud pureblood, non-gmo :D

    • +14

You can easily distinguished who gets their medical information off social media when they use terms like "pureblood".

      • That, and endlessly bleating that everybody else is a sheep.

    • +9

      gmo

      You spelt "intellectual" wrong….

    • Good on you. Very proud to know there are pureblood out there in comparison to all the white mouse.

      • +1

        Neanderthals have the purest blood.

    • Gene Making Organism?

  • +1

Wow. Gotta love a divisive deal!

  • Not sure how medical exemption is a right to have privileges of a vaccinated person, as your still at risk as any other non vaccinated person and the fact that the museum is promoting it, but that's an argument for another day

    • +3

Because they recognise it's discrimination. And discrimination is only ok when it's against people who make informed decisions based upon facts and evidence after hours/days/months of investigation and careful consideration.

You only get bribe… uh, I mean, rewarded… if you blindly follow government and "health" officials nonsensical claims without question. Those same trustworthy "experts" who gifted a generation of babies with no arms from Thalidomide, and faulty cobalt hip implants alike which continued for months after they were known for causing tissue necrosis in the USA, are the third-leading cause of patient deaths, and the list goes on… oh, along with government itself which couldn't organise a successful meet-n-greet in a swingers club.

      • +1

Anyone using thalidomide in comparison to covid vaccines hasn't actually read up on thalidomide and the changes brought in following the marketing of that drug.

If the vaccines had any effects similar to thalidomide we would have known about it before they were mass used.

  • -3

    Baaa!!!

    • +9

      Embarrassing for you.

    • +1

Yes all the anti-vaxxers do sound like sheep.

  • What You want me to come walk in unvacanated ? Ok sounds good to me

  • +2

Just because vax is mentioned ill never go here in my life. Shove it up ya clackers. And I've had both.

    • Calm down

    • +7

You don't sound like a person who would be interested in going to a museum anyway.

  • +2

Some neanderthals here that ordinarily belong in a museum.

  • +7

It’s really disappointing to see a lot of anti-vax comments on this post. How can so many people ignore the advice and research from so many health professionals and scientists worldwide? The notion that it’s some kind of power trip or conspiracy is laughable. Clearly none of you have ever worked on a group project before if you think that there could possibly be that level of cooperation and collusion worldwide. It’s truly baffling and both pathetic and sad. Looking forward to the vaccinated economy and pissing off that crowd!

    • -5

Majority of problem is not the Vax its the disgusting politics behind it.

      • Ignore the politics then.

    • -5

The health professionals and scientists that have research/advice that the vax is bad get censored or canceled so you only hear the positive research/advice.

Dont let media control you. Brandnewtube.com is a good source thats not censored.

      • +1

        You're not serious are you?

Anyone can publish research on pre-print servers. They won't get cancelled for doing so.

They tend not to because they do it for the grift, not because they actually have some research showing their point of view.

See Alex Berenson and his nonsense substack begging for money.

      • +5

Shame on you chchnu for perpetuating fake news.

Suggest you get the vaccine and then with the extra years you are alive go and get educated.

Everyone is so focused on eradicating covid but really we should be just as focused on eradicating stupidity… The latter will only serve to expedite the former

        • +1

Dont let the mainstream media brainwash you. You are only seeing one side of the picture.

Why are they making people who already had covid and recovered take the vaccine? Its a known fact that the antibodies made by your body after getting infected is 5 to 6x as strong as the vax. So why do they also need to vax to get a vaccine passport to participate in society? Seems like noone on the internet can answer that.

          • +1

            @Chchnu:

after getting infected is 5 to 6x as strong as the vax

            Please show your working……

          • +1

@Chchnu: Not sure if you are trolling, stupid or just selfish.

Some people can't get vaccines because they have other medical illnesses that put them at high risk of complications. These people also would likely have poorer outcomes if getting covid.

Elderly people are also likely to do poorly if they get covid given they will have multiple other illnesses.

The question is not why you should have to get a vaccine (I. E. To provide herd immunity and protect yourself as well as others) but why are you so resistant to doing the decent thing. Giving back to society etc.

Here is the answer to your question regarding why previous covid positive people need vaccines.

          • @Chchnu: I'm not sure why people act like mainstream media is such a bad thing. Mainstream for all sorts of fields implies credibility, high levels of training, higher levels of resources and contacts. The mainstream media can contact and interview any doctor or virologist in the world. These other media outlets would have to make an appointment with their GP to get an actual doctors opinion on something.

Feel free to go see a non mainstream surgeon next time and have them use new techniques in their garage.

      • I bet you're a model citizen.

    • +1

Please don't be so ignorant and condescending from up there on your lofty superior arrogant perch. For starters, Russell Brand has some very thought provoking stuff eg:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fQ6JklHjBc

      • +1

Waiting for someone complain about him and not what he is saying.

      • Did you even listen to the point of his monologue?

He's pointing out the incredible flaws in how the us system fund their regulating bodies, their government is essentially swayed and funded by lobby groups.

Exactly what in his article was in any way anti vax/ anti covid related?

Though Russell Brand isn't exactly a source for all things wise and astute…he definitely produces content knowing exactly the audience he is trying to appeal to. He is a performer. He regularly offers little self thought and in recent times has been posting videos that covid deniers just lap up, with YouTube algorithm worthy titles but little in the way of content that would do more than just repeat talking points

        • +1

Unfortunately, for what ever reason you seem to deliberately overlook the facts he presents, it's not all just "talking points".
But you have crossed the Rubicon, which may go a long way towards explaining it.

          • +1

            @Global Nomad: lol just lol

          • +1

@Global Nomad: "Exactly what in his article was in any way anti vax/ anti covid related?"

The American system is incredibly broken as it's almost entirely politician for $. No arguments there. Though unsure how it relates to free entry into an Australian museum. Unless they have an American politics section, but that's a long stretch for relevancy.

But I'm unsure what facts and truth bombs you think that video is dropping?

Though, I can probably find a video from other comedians that are incredibly pro vaccine.
Should I post one of those to refute any other comedians you follow who may have anti vaccine routines?

            • +1

@SBOB: What did you think of his recent video on vaccine apartheid and how it relates to free entry into an Australian museum? Seems to raise many interesting talking points supported with facts.

@SBOB: "The American system is incredibly broken as it's almost entirely politician for $."

The Australian system is basically no different…

      • Russell Brand, the comedian?

Or have you stumbled across a Dr Russell Brand who happens to be a qualified virologist or epidemiologist?

  • +1

i hope in the muesum they have an exhibition showing groups of mannequins talking to their friends, having parties, in bars with no masks on, no signs of handwash 'pre-2019 era'

    Discrimination at its finest

    • +6

I agree everyone has a right to choose. I choose to get a vaccine, some choose not to & that's OK. Everyone has a choice and what they choose will dictate the things they can and can't do over the coming period. It's a choice, so it's really not discrimination, is it?

      • So it’s a choice but not really a choice.

        • Every choice in life has pro's and cons.

          • @Yorkshire-Man: 'Have a medical procedure we don't know any long term effects for yet or you'll be sacked from your company of 40 years.' - Life Changing Con

            • @vodamerc: "Contract a highly contagious disease, with well known short and medium term side effects (such as death and ongoing long covid symptoms), rather than taking advantage of the amazing advancements in medical research we have available to us…"

              Confusingly Alternative Pro..

            • -1

@vodamerc: Life isn't fair. Billions of doses have been given and we're fine. World has changed now, move with it or be left behind.

              • +1

@Blargman2001: Just because billions of doses have been given doesn’t say anything about long term safety or effectiveness. Keep moving along with it, let’s see just how far ahead you’ll get.

                • @robredo: Your body your choice. You guys made your choice. Now it's time to let everyone else get on with their lives. Whinge all you want about being restricted in your freedoms, not like the unvaccinated didn't see this coming. We all have to live with our decisions and their consequences now. Unvaccinated aren't doing too well atm though.

  • +3

Hopefully they do it again after 1 Dec

    • +5

Yea, I heard the unvaccinated stop spreading covid after that date.

Let's be real, the Venn diagram of the kinds of people pretending they are medically exempt or harping on about "choice" and the kinds of people who would visit a museum is 2 separate circles.
