Is Lenovo Extended Warranty Worth It?

I recently purchased this laptop a week ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655803). I did not get Harvey Norman Product Care at the time of purchase.

Now I looked at Lenovo Extended Warranty (https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/warranty-upgrades) and they are offering me:
Depot Support: $53.24 (24 months), $106.47 (36 months), $186.33 (48 months)
Onsite Support: $136.30 (24 months), $205.00 (36 months), $308.06 (48 months)
Premium Care Onsite Support: $239.77 (24 months), $360.62 (36 months), $541.92 (48 months)

Do you think 'Depot Support Extended Warranty' will be worth it for 48 months? I don't want to buy other two.

Thank you.

  • Like all insurance, it's cheap when you need it but not so cheap when you don't. With all the ThinkPad's I've owned in the last ~20 years, they either survive till they're 7-8 years old or issues cropping up after the 4th year.

    • I bought an IdeaPad (not a ThinkPad). But thank you for your comments. This is highly appreciated!!!

  • Insurance on anything is about what your budget is to cover any potential failures in the lifetime of the product.

As above, Thinkpads are a business laptop, and have been built to be reliable workhorses and can kick along for years without a hitch except the batteries. I fixed a mates T420 a few weeks ago with a fresh stick of RAM and it's still buzzing along nicely (2011 build.)
Not so sure the same is true about the consumer builds such as your ideapad and the like.
I wouldn't waste money with the onsite support unless you're mobility limited, or repair would be super time critical such as operating a business from that PC.
The extended depot warranty I bought a few years ago for $100 on my Yoga saved me from paying $970 for a mainboard replacement 14 months after purchase but that's a single failure on a different kind of PC with a much bigger initial outlay so not sure how that will sway you.

    • My laptop is an IdeaPad and not ThinkPad. But I understand what you mentioned. Thank you very much.
