3600-3060-OCT

Reached out to rep Luke and they can offer a Ryzen 5 3600 RTX 3060 gaming PC for October. They have no build queue so these will ship in 2-3 business days.

Enjoy :)

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5 3600 processor
  • Gigabyte Eagle OC RTX 3060 12 GB graphics card
  • Biostar B550MH motherboard (upgrades available)
  • 16GB 2666MHz RAM (upgrades available)
    480GB 2.5” SSD
  • Gigabyte P650B bronze PSU
  • MSI MAG Vampiric 010 case (swap/upgrade available)

This PCPartPicker list came to $1642 using an $899 GPU and $329 CPU price, either way price seems good given lack of PC deals recently.

Case: Go for the "MSI MAG Forge 100R" it's a free swap and looks more open than the one pictured or the default "MSI MAG Vampiric 100 Series" (no it does not appear to be pictured, that is yet a different case again afaict).

PSU: I would upgrade to the MSI PSU, it seems to have decent reviews on Amazon, just don't get it with the Gigabyte PSU it isn't worth the risk.

RAM: +$29 for the 3200 ram, that'll do, if you're really interested in ram timings and speed and want the optimal stuff (which I think is about 3800 because of infinity cache speed etc, but bang for buck may vary) then save the $29 and go research ram separately and put up with the slow 2666 stuff it comes with.

MB: Get a B550 non-Biostar board, if you want onboard Wifi get that, otherwise get the one without onboard Wifi. X570 essentially has more PCI-e lanes so for multiple NVMe SSDs or for insane people who still do multi-GPU, X570 will help get the most out of those options, B550 should be fine though.

SSD: Probably go to the 500GB or 1TB NVMe M.2 SSDs

CPU Cooler: Take the stock one then go get a decent Tower cooler, avoid the AIOs here.

OS: Skip OS it's a rip off, buy a Windows Key online later

  • Lots of these prebuilt never include Windows activation, but do they still install the full Win10 home onto it or you just get a blank SSD? And whats the legit safest and cheapest way to activate the windows rather than paying the ripoff $169 fee?

I bought my Windows 10 key from G2A and Office from premiumcdkeys.com.

No issues thus far, but be aware of the potential issues buying from key resellers (https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/2yhlw4/key_resel…)

    • Bought mine for $3 off AliExpress

      • Do you have a link?

        • No, they get taken down pretty quick nowadays

        • +3

          just use kms

    • Don't activate it $0. Windows updates still work.

      • You mean Windows still boot up like normal without activation? So what are the limitations without activation?

        • Windows works like normal. You can't set your own background picture.

Is this good enough to run Bloons TD past wave 200??

  • It's $1,699 for me

  • Does it come with a PCI-e card? Or is it worth upgrading the motherboard instead?

  • Just going to say that this case was kinda garbage. Pretty horrid temps, even if you plan on installing more than the one exhaust it comes with.

Despite that, it could be considered a decent deal - especially in the current market.

    • Is that in reference to the stock Vampiric case? Seems like it can be swapped with the Forge 100 at no cost?

If you are going to get this PC expect long wait times and no replies from techfast as they seem to be absolutely swamped with orders. I enjoy them as a brand and have very friendly and professional staff, but I think they need to expand their workforce to keep up with demand.

Literally says in post they have no Q times and that PC will be sent in 2-3 Biz Days

      • It can say that, but what they don't say is that it will ship after they get all parts from suppliers, which I know isn't their fault but can be a long wait time. Just want people to be aware.

  • How would this handle New World?

    Cheers

I have the same card with a similar spec'd PC and run it on very high with low shadows and water and get 100fps plus but cap it to 60fps for better CPU performance. However, I use a 1080p monitor. Check YouTube for comparison videos

      • Cheers mate!

You would probably hit a cpu bottleneck before gpu I would recommend a ryzen 5600 cpu instead

    • Yes it would.

  • Can any previous Techfast buyer tell me if they have individual prices on invoices? I ask for 28 degrees price protection reasons.

    • Individual prices as per component? If so, no. At least not for me a few months ago. It was a column with the machine specs and another with the total price.

      • Yeah I was hoping it'd be individually priced item by item. Graphics cards are prime for Price Protection claims.

    • Bundle Builds come as a single price for the bundle.
The individual parts are not priced

  • Can you please add a Ryzen 7, 8 core upgrade?

Tbh wouldn’t the 3600 cpu be a bottleneck in most games even with a 3060 most games coining out like new world and bf are serious cpu hogs. Would recommend step up to 5600 at least if you plan to game less than 4k

Wanted to slightly Hijack this post to send some Kudos out to Techfast for some amazing customer service.
We bought a bundle PC from a recent OZB deal and after a few months we had some issues with the GPU. If you ran more than one monitor the card would shut down. I even posted on the forums here to get some suggestions on how to fix it.
Went back to Techfast and they diagnosed a faulty GPU
Sent the GPU back and TF tested it and was able to replicate the fault.
The GPU was then sent to MSI for replacement.
MSI decided in their wisdom to reject the replacement as they claimed there was a hairline crack on the connector
This seemed a bit of a stretch as TF has not found any such fault in their testing and we waited for the card and report to come back to TF from MSI

once the card returned, Luke emailed me that the report seems a bit of a stretch and made no sense.
So that i would not have to wait for them to deal with it, Luke arranged a brand new replacement card and sent it out.

I can not fault TF's Customer Service at all
The response times to emails were quick, the testing instructions clear and when the situation went pear shaped Tecfast and Luke stepped up

We have bought 2 bundle PC's from TF so far and everything above is why i will buy from them again happily.

Sony on the other hand… well that's a story for another day :)

  • My daughter wants a gaming pc to play minecraft (and other games when she gets more into it). Should I get this one or wait till Black Friday deals?

  • How good would this build be for 1440p gaming? Looking for something to handle 1440p @ min 60fps on high settings with RT.

    • It'll depend on the games that you want to play.

But if you are thinking of a blanket general consideration, and you want that frame rates and resolution with RT on, you are looking at at least RTX 3070 level performance which means in the current market, at least $2.5k. If you can forgo RayTracing, then cheaper.

      • Thanks for the advice, this is what I was kinda thinking. I'm in no rush, I have my PS5 for now, may wait until next year see what's on offer. I'll probably hold out until I can get a 3080 build.

        • I have sort of given up hope on this generation. Considering shortages won't get better until next year (with a possibility of it going to end of next year) and there are also logistic issues (hopefully won't last as long). Usually prices take longer to come down than go up when cost factors are in play.

Only reservation of hope there is is probably the cautious observation of intel's Arc GPU that's coming up. If intel is able to have good supply and likely reasonable price to begin with to break into the market, it'll likely be a needed relief of sorts for gamers as it is expected intel's top card will be able to match 3070's performance.

Your PS5 is around RTX2070 levels.

I have an XSX and making that my 4K AAA game gaming machine until I can upgrade my GTX1070 which is still a very strong card for 1440P gaming.

For those not into PC gaming the latest generation consoles prove much better value for money in terms of performance, you couldn't make a PC with similar specs for $750. Albeit does require something like a LG OLED if you want to see them truly shine.

  • How does this compare with the Budget PC Deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/656834

Similar specs but Budget PC has (potentially?) better performing parts.
Is it worth the price difference?

      Read the comments and decide.

The company doesn't seem that trustworthy. And as others pointed out, it's RGB ram with a non-RGB motherboard along with other minor issues.

This deal is quite similar, TechFast has more rep but people hate Gigabyte ATM, and 3600 seems like it would bottleneck some games.

Honestly both deals are pretty shit. Neither seem to have a 'fully working' setup. Ideally these pre-built desktops wouldn't require upgrades/changes. They should be designed to maximise the performance of the parts.

I'm waiting till Black Friday. Scoping out prices now so I'm confident when I pull the trigger.

Buying a PC now is the worst time possible. Soon we are gonna have Intel ARC which is equivalent to RTX 3070, RTX Super editions, Intel Alder Lake which destroys all these Ryzen CPU in performance and power consumption, DDR5 which is at least twice as fast as DDR4 and PCIe x4 motherboards. This thing will be worth $500 if your lucky early next year. If you bought this for $1000 early this year you did ok.
