Single use appliances like waffle makers take up a lot of space, are a pain to clean are a bit wasteful, but at least they do something.

These appliance makers are pretty smart though, just pop out a new heating plate on the same old jaffle maker and people go crazy

A frying pan is somewhat useless in an office kitchen or studio accommodation that lacks a stovetop.
