Hi Friends,

The missus is in need of a new phone after drowning her iPhone 6S. She is quite determined to get either the IP13 mini (128 GB, $1200) or IP12 mini (64 GB, also $1200). Now it seems obvious that the 13 is better value, so we are wondering if we are missing something?? Has there been any problems with it? Is it indeed the better buy?

She has a $600 insurance voucher for the Good Guys, so has to be from there. And probably the only way you could convince her to not go Apple would be with a fantastic camera, that's a high priority.

Really appreciate any comments.

    Jb has iPhone 12 mini listed for $999.
    I am sure there’s places you can get it for even cheaper.
    I bought the 128gb model for around $850 back in August I think.

    Edit - Never mind, just checked. Good guys are indeed selling it for $1200. So weird.

    Iphone 12 mini was on sale for around $700 from Telstra day in August. And you better get 13 mini since it has much better battery life and will get longer support.

    - Sensor shift optical image stabilisation
    - Dual eSIM support

      That dual eSIM is interesting. Hopefully MVNOs will start supporting this (maybe late next year).

      13 mini is no brainer, better battery life and a much better camera.

    Ok, so they wouldn't consider price matching because it was an insurance claim, but could offer a $55 discount on the IP13! Weird. Took that option. From reviews we watched there is very little difference with the camera, just slightly better, but for such a small price difference we were happy to go with the best option.

    definitely 13 mini is good choice

    Loved the size and speed of the 12 mini but the battery was quite poor, so it went to the kids

    Just for a little update…. the IP13 mini survived being dropped in the dunny! I'm not sure she deserves a phone.

      Did her 6S also go in the toilet? Maybe time for her to stop using the phone in the bathroom …
