This units tends to come on sale fairly regularly, is it any good?

    • +1

Good, I use it during the lockdown, you trim your hair easily.

      • +1

Yeah, a step up on the ~$20 Remington type ones.

    • +4

I got the Grey HC5630/15 model when it was on sale.
      Does the job well
and the charging time is much faster than this Blue model.

      • +1

Same here. I've been cutting my own hair since the start of the lockdowns last year.
Very impressed with the charging time, adjustable sizes and ability to get washed.

1 hour charging vs. 8 hours charging is very convenient.

        • Which one has the faster charging time

          Blue or grey model

I think I bought the blue one

    • Totally worth the money. Especially if you have kids.

    • Yeah these clippers are awesome. The build quality is excellent and the shape is good to hold and use. Best clippers I've ever had and save my head in under a minute if you go turbo. Lol
I have the long charge model but not really a big deal as you can plug it in and use if you forget to charge. Full charge lasts ages. When it's running out of battery it's still enough power to finish one hair cut.

  • Deal! I have a set and found it good quality and easy to use… especially during lockdown.

  • Nice. I have one, perfectly acceptable for a self lock-down trim. It'll do the job.

  • +2

I bought for $59 just last week :(

    • :((

    • I purchased it at $39 last week. Must have chosen the right day.

    • F

    • Maybe purchase this one.

Returned the new package from Amazon and send it where you purchased it from? lol

      • Thanks. That's a good idea

        • +1

You can rely on OzBargain to validate fraud.

  • Bought these clippers a while ago, have been awesome during lockdown.

  • +1

I've never looked at hair clippers so hard in lockdowns

  • Bought this one from Amazon and it's pretty good, love it

  • Yes, had this since last Christmas. Very much worth it for $39.

  • Bought this last month at JB and used this month. So far so good, solid enough for home shaves.

With free delivery with Prime it's a no brainer. This is what I paid @ JB

    Subtotal $39.00
    Delivery $4.99
    Total (Inc GST) $43.99

    • Don't need Prime for the free standard delivery with Amazon :)

      • Ahh noice, even better

  • Happy with purchase.

  • Can these be used safely around water?

    • The clippers are waterproof, don't think the bottom of the body is though so it's not fully submersible.

      • Damn my shower drain is massive like unnaturally large you can probably fit a few tennis balls through there so i was going to use it in a big shower and then flush the hair down.

I guess i might rinse my head between passing shaves or even try shaving under running water but i guess it is not possible with this.

        • There was a question about this on Amazon FWIW.

          Question:Is this product shower-proof?
Answer:Yes it’s waterproof but I would keep anything but mild soap away.

        • Been using this under the running shower exclusively for 6months+ and it's been fine!

          • +1

@hymio: I have a older model and have been doing same for over a year. Probably closer to 2 years

            • @DamagedDingo: Philips will not be held responsible if you want to shave your head underwater in a pool 😆

            • @DamagedDingo: Oh nice cool so I can do a bald under running water?!

Damn I think I need this now.

Lockdown has taught me I need a plan b.

              Especially with summer coming.

Long hair equals more heat equals more sweat.

  • Dang, bought this for 5% more last week from amazon. It was always on backorder. Good product

  • Amazon Australia shipping times are horrendous!

    • +8

LOL, yeah, just Amazon. Everything else is running perfectly.

    • +2

In my experience, Amazon remains the best vs others despite the current issues

  • seems OOS now :(

  • One of the best clippers I have ever own.

  • Based on my experience of one clipper, this is pretty good. The adjustable dial makes it easy to manage length (rather than 30 different attachments) and it's easy to clean afterwards (water resistant so can just wash the head). Also doesn't need oil.

  • Just came here to say I've had these clippers for over a year. My needs are simple (I clip on the shortest setting) and they do a great job with a minimum of fuss. Water washable cleaning is a great feature too. A couple of cuts at this price and you've made your money back.

    • How do you deal with hair

  • The joys of having family in tassie! Got one from Hobart store. Thanks OP.

    • Little did i know when i woke today i needed some impact sockets and hair clippers. But i really must have haha

  • +1

They should do a combo deal with a nice set of bowls.

  • +1

Ive been using a $20 Wahl corded clipper for the past 8 years and never skipped a beat. Can I justify getting this 😅

    • Only if you feel cordless is an advantage. If can’t, I think your current one is sufficient. :)
      My 2cents.

  • Have been using these for about two years now. Good build quality and battery.

  • +1

Anyone tried this with a furry pet dog? Genuine question.

    • +2

I think you need a specific pet hair clipper. Pet hair are a lot finer than human hair and normal clippers may not cut. FWIW pet clippers aren't that expensive. Could even be cheaper than this one as I recall getting mine from Aldi.

      • +1

If you have a really furry one they are quite expensive. The cheap ones can quickly get hot or they pull hair, leading to an uncomfortable trim.

We use Wahl KM-2 for our dog and it's been excellent so far.

  • Has anyone got any suggestion for cordless clippers with hair cutting length of 30-40mm?

    • These go to 28mm.

      • Can it do a bald?

        • 0.5mm

28 Settings; Select with the zoom wheel 28 length settings; 0.5 to 28mm; 2mm click on comb for stubble

It technically can't do 1 or 2mm. Typical blade 1 is about 3mm.

          • @ShortyX: This has a dedicated 2mm attachment

            • @SAU: Thanks… it was in the text I pasted. 🤦‍♂️

  • Anko kmart one worked well for me around $17 I think.

  • +1

Recommended for body hair and groin area? Thinking of getting a manscaped trimmer but if this does the job will consider. Cheers

  • How does this compare to the Philips Multigroom Series 5000?

    • +3

My reply from an older thread on this

I have both, this one is specifically for hair on your head:
      - the blade is wider and doesn't clog as quickly, useful if you have thicker hair
      - you can change lengths easier by sliding the wheel on the instead of changing the comb for each length
      - slightly easier to grip because the whole unit is a bit wider and bigger ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The Multigroom … is better suited for face and body, I still use it for that, mainly for getting beard length down quickly to a 3-day shave look in about a minute. I rate them both.

  • +1

Can confirm, it does work well in the shower man scaping the nether regions.

    • I'm sold.

I might get different colours for different parts of the body.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to cross contaminate the two regions lol.

  • Got one a while ago. Harder than a coffin nail. Very good stuff.

  • I bought one earlier in the lockdown. Good trimmer. Good for hair clipping and beard trimming. Battery however getting weaker by the day. Only 1.5 years old.

  • I would have thought cheap cordless clippers would be crap. However, the comments here won me over. Purchased!

  • +1

any experiences with this as a beard trimmer?
is the blade too wide for this sort of thing?

I recently purchased the Philips norelco multi groom 5000 and not very happy with it at all,
particularly when trying to do under the neck area and create a clean line around the beard\stubble.
but in general feel the blades dont cut that well at all.

so interested to know others experience for this as an all round hair/beard trimmer

  • Temporarily out of stock.

  • i bought this 2 weeks ago at 41.90, i know a bargain is a bargain, but who wants to wait for 2.90 when you look like cousin it

    • I just bought one at this price but it's temporarily out of stock so I think they will email me if they get more stock.

JB HI FI also temporarily unavailable online.

      Looks like this got popular.

      • it did a better job than my previous remington one that only lasted one lockdown

        • What happened in the end to your Remington?

          • @AlienC: it started jamming then shortly after a small plastic bit came dislodged/broke, its due for the recycle bin.

I've since received the philips one, its way more comfortable

            • +1

@juki: Ah damn sorry to hear thanks for reporting back for us,

Hopefully this one does a better job.

  • I bought one of this during last Christmas for $60. It has been awesome. Good battery life and power. The cordless design makes all the difference.
