Noticed lately there are a lot less items on special and no online only specials (at least for me in Syd). Doesn't really seem like tis makes up for it.

    • Woolworths came out last year saying that they were going to start moving away from the specials and focus on everyday low prices model.

      • +1

Hmm haven't really noticed much in the way of price reductions on items we buy. Just encourages me to spend more at Aldi and Costco.

You could spend $250 and not get $30 off if you want?

Or not spend the $250 at all.

If someone was going to do their weekly/fortnightly/monthly shop at Woolies regardless, how is this not a good deal?

    • +1

Sounds like a typical Coles "special" promo.

    • +20

Or, if you spend $220, you get $30 worth of free groceries. You could buy your wife’s boyfriend something nice

      • Is that what you did? Such an awesome guy!

      • nah you have to spend $250?

      • excellent reply, 10/10 would giggle again

  • -2

How does a household spend 250 at one go???

    • 12 soda stream refills….

    • +4

If you have a family of 4 on $20 food budget a day, that’s only 3 days of shopping. Family of 3? That’s 4 days. Family of 2? That’s 6 days. It’s not rocket science.

      • -1

        $20 per person per day?

Damn that is some fine dining my good sir.

Only way I spend $20 on food in a day is when I eat out and cbf to cook.

        • That’s fair. I’ve been eating well of late as a bit of a treat (not been eating out, not been going out or drinking either). A lot of seafood. But I agree, it’s not sustainable long term.

          • @kiriakoz: Ah seafood yeah now that budget makes sense.

Nothing wrong with eating good if it does you good in the long run.

I know I need to cut off some foods from my diet even though they are very good financially.

      • That seems expensive, a roast chicken is $10. Mash potatoes and gravy maybe $2? Breakfast and lunch cereal and sandwiches? Or pasta with pesto?

        • That is a disgusting menu.

          • @kiriakoz: Your outlook on staple foods is disgusting. I lived on weetbix for 20 years, problem with Australia is the entitlement and arrogance. And then they still want more income and pay rises.

    • +3

Depending on the size of the household, they could probably spend that by doing a major shop every other week. And if a family is in lockdown with kids, they're quite likely eating more.

I have a family of 6, of which 5 people are male + 2 decently sized dogs and 250 is literally like 3-4 full days worth of food, especially because Woolworths prices are so high. Usually buy groceries for the next 7-9 days, so in one go it's easily double this amount, if not more.

      • +1

Yep, same. Family of 6 here but mostly girls…I don't even buy my meat (or dog food) from Woolies and would still easily rack up a couple of $200+ shops per pay period.

I never get these codes to work though :(

    • +2

      Alcohol.

      • 100% Not sure why people are struggling to just chuck on a slab or a few bottles and get an extra hundred

    • +2

      Chips can be expensive.

      Like four dollars a bag.

      Stuff just adds up.

You want good quality berriers. It's like six dollars.

      • +6

If you're paying $4 on chips, you're doing your shopping wrong.

        • Premium organic gluten free cruelty free truffle and garlic infused with macadamia Australian made chips 15g or nothing.

      • Can you give us a bit more information about those $6 berriers?

        • -2

I also would like “quality” berries

    • No idea but so far all I got in my head was buying max amount of popcorn.. since popcorn technically does not really expire.. ok it does but what else can you buy that is not as perishable.. even chips go stale after awhile.

Rice? lol haha that is a lot of rice.

      • +1

Rice, porridge, canned goods, oil, toiletries, dishwashing tablets, laundry powder, frozen meat (if you have space in the freezer), soft drinks, etc. All these things can keep several weeks with no issues.

I have a family of 5, and we spend $250/week most weeks while trying to spend under it :(. My kids love fruit though, and I want to encourage them to snack of fruit rather than crisps but it is not cheap. But we also love eating meat and having small treats. It averages out to $50/pp per week which could be worse.

      Single people are so cute….

  • Able to apply code on my account while not having received any email invite etc.

  • Will this work on gift cards?

    • +2

If I understand your question correctly, it can be stacked with paying by gift cards.

You can only buy giftcards in store and this code works for online order only. So you can't use this code to buy gift cards…

  • Couldn’t use my monthly woolworths mobile 10% off with this code together 😕

    • Can't combine those.

They can however be combined with point offers such as "Spend $100 for 3000 pts"

10% discount works out better anyway in most cases!

      • Yeah that's true. Free sim plan again for this month

    • Cant use mine as well!!

  • Also, collect the Woolworths bricks and then promptly sell unopened packs on eBay to get a few dollars back (ends 19th October).

  • +1

Can OP please update title to "Woolworths Online"? The Coles online posts all do that to differentiate from physical shop offers.

  • Will stack with the 10% once month deal for some cardholders etc so every bit helps

  • "Not eligible for this coupon promotion" on the first of my cards, So definitely targeted.

  • Didn’t work for me either ……
“Sorry, you are not eligible for this coupon promotion”

    • Yeah I pointed out it is targeted but no one has tagged the deal.
