  • Is it worthwhile getting one of these in the interim before I treat myself to a food processor for cooking down the line?

    • This is my exact plan. Will do all the basics i need it for until then.
Also i imagine i'd still use it more than a food processor for small jobs / smoothies / margs.

I have found Nutribullets seem to break after a year of casual use & have seen reviews that seem to say the same. I had one smoke up that was just over a year old and that I had barely used.

    • How was it used? Ice? Hard vegetables?

It started out as a 'as seen on TV' product, I always have some doubts about the quality of products where the biggest investment is marketing

    • I've had one for about 3 years now with pretty regular use and it's still going strong.

    • Do you put your blade in the dishwasher?

I used mine daily for about three years with no issues to blend smoothies with frozen bananas and ice. The blade died a few weeks after I started putting it in the dishwasher though.

I find this pretty useless compared to an actual commercial grade blender. This can't handle nuts or blend soups properly compared to something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174927365185?hash=item28ba7bc441…

    • Wow, that's a great price for a commercial grade blender!!

    • wow, I might get one. Do you have one, whats your thoughts on this machine?

    • Would be good to know the real power rating of the blender..

      A 4500W Blender would operate at 19.5A.
Standard powerpoint is rated for 10A and usually protected by a 16A circuit breaker.

      • true, true. Probably chinese junk that lasts 6 months or so.

        • I had a "chinese junk" no brand I bought off ebay that lasted 6 years. Don't just assume they are junk. They are all based off the original patents of Vitamix which has since expired. These things are pretty long lasting.

      • I thought the wattage referred to the amount of torque on the blades rather than how much electricity it draws.

        • it doesn't work like that, what tai1z said and his calculations suggest the appliance is misleading.

      The seller is in China.

Mine broke down after a year of casual use.
Ended up becoming really loud and smoking everywhere.. all i ever used it for was fruit smoothies, no nuts or hard stuff.
So im sceptical in buying another.
Would mostly likely pay more for an actual blender this time around…

The bearings in the blade assembly aren't very well sealed if you put them in the dishwasher regularly. The set I had I used every day for about 2 years had the blade mechanism was getting louder and louder and I couldn't work out why. Turns out the bearings were all rusted. I ended up watching a youtube video on how to remove and replace the bearings. It wasn't particularly cheap to do so, but it felt better than just throwing it all out and having to buy completely new blade bases. The bearings I purchased were also more sealed and I don't put them in the dishwasher regularly now. The new bearings have lasted about a year now with no sign of issues.

I have the original one ordered from Danoz direct? Still going strong after 7+ years

Never put the blade in the dishwasher, maybe that’s why..

  • nah, no thanks, nothing beats my Ninja
