Reddit - it might take a bit to get used to and find subreddits that you are interested in, but you may soon find it more addictive than Facebook once you get the hang of it.
Reddit used to be good overall now it just a political cesspool. Avoid the big subs. There are still a lot of good subs that aren't too political you just need to find them.
Agreed, at this point the bigger subreddits are basically political echo chambers, particularly American left wing.
That said, I still find Reddit great for getting advice and info on hobbies/niche interests. Also great for cute animal photos or funny videos if that's the content you're interested in.
Main caution with Reddit vs major social media is that NSFW stuff are allowed (usually an NSFW tag attached) so just need to be careful about what you're viewing.

They could try, but they couldn't log in remotely because their network was down, and they couldn't enter the building to do it physically, because their key pass system was down due to their network being down.
