Hi again OzB community,
Since im looking to order an iPad mini. I want to be able to put it under a business name but on the edu store when I tick "This is a business address" it just comes up with a field to add a school or university. I was wondering that if I put my business name under that field would it show up on the invoice with a "school/university" prefix. Could anybody who ordered with a company name or even a school/university name from the edu name please let me know? I want to see wether is has a prefix of "school/university" or not
Thanks in advance

Question about Purchasing iPad under Business Name from Edu Store

That sounds like you're abusing it's intended purpose.
My son is a student so im not completely abusing it but I wanted to put it under a business name
@jayboi: If your son is using it, put it under his name and get the discount.
If you’re using it for business, this has nothing to do with your son so you will have to pay the full price.
I don't think you can purchase an iPad under business name from Edu Store, unless you an educational institution.
Yeah, I was just wondering what it would show as the prefix on the invoice.
Would it show as a university/school or would it just say nothing and just state the name?If you're an Educational Institution making the purchase, that business name would be on the invoice.
From previously purchasing on Microsoft's site for educational discount, your purchase would attempt to auto-fill the school field from its data base. If you didn't provide a correct response, the order would loop back seeking correct info.
Is your business a sole trader? If so, just claim that way. Alternative, personal tax…
Yep, Im considering trying to get jbhifi to match the price and just put it under my business
They wont price match EDU store.
Just buy it and put it in your name then claim. If its used for business, then its used for business and a legit claim. Simple.
The fact you get a discount and buy from a EDU store doesn't impact the ATO claim portion. It's just going to seem as an abuse of purpose by others in forums such as this. So, perhaps consider if your banking partner offers you access to any programs/discounts.
Either way. Should be on Droid… lol

I'm using an Android phone. I refuse to use an IPhone. But the iPad mini is the best small size tablet that's available in the market.
@kerfuffle: yeah, Since my son is actually a student im considering ringing up my local store and getting them to price match.
@kerfuffle: Says who?
I think my Note 20 Ultra is a perfect mini tablet! lol@mickyb80: That's a phablet. Not a tablet.
@kerfuffle: Near enough for me. No need for anything bigger, if so, then I just flip the screen around on the 15.6" x360 specter and whip out the stylus! :)
I’ve price matched Apple edu store with jbhifi multiple times in the past. They just ask you to show that you can login to unidays app on your phone(which shows that you’re eligible for education discount) and they’ll happily price match at jbhifi. Then I paid for the price-matched iPads with discounted gift cards to stack more discounts in top.
@Kenb0: You can be eligible for education staff without Unidays e.g. university staff
@kerfuffle: I was just pointing out to micky who said they wouldn’t price match edu store, and my recent experience with doing so, which was to use my access to unidays as proof. Interesting enough, my access to unidays was actually through a friend of mine, who works as university staff and he gave me his login details so I could flash “my” unidays access to jbhifi staff
@Kenb0: Just rung up my local JB and they price matched with no issues at all.
@jayboi: Now give a big thankyou to the taxpayers of Australia who will be subsidising your purchase when you claim a tax deduction.
get son to get via edu, son then sells item to your business then you claim?
I believe that's possible, but the business won't be able to claim GST.
Assuming it's your own business, you don't need to purchase it 'under your business name' in order to claim it. An iPad doesn't have title so not required.
Why are you ordering for business use via the education store?
