It's not ideal playing two-player - there are good fan-developed options for it though, here's one good example (PDF)

We like using a bank trade dice strategy to keep things moving too:

e.g. if you have 2 or more resources, you can:

Roll a 1, forfeit 2 resources to bank
      2, pay one resource
      3, no trade
      4 no trade
      5, trade 1 for 1,
      6, trade 1 for 2

Another cool mix up is to to not have the resources facing upright until someone builds a settlement on the corner of it. Only have the number showing. It evens out the initial strategy and is a bit like exploring plus settling.

Amazing! Thanks op! Got it with shopback 5 dollars bonus and 10 dollars gift card from Veamm. making it only 21 dollars

  • Thanks OP, good price

  • really good price!

Thats an insane price. Definitely my favourite board game. The 5-6 player extension is worth getting even to play with 3-4 players as well as the Seafarers expansion.

    • Get the Knights and cites expansion… Makes the game very interesting

      • Got the traders and barbarians for a present and it looks too complicated, especially since we have it as a casual game having some drinks. Played knights and cities on my phone and wasn't too bad but Seafarers is just nice and simple and expands the map.

All time low price? Bought one, thanks!

I wonder if people would buy the game if the letter was changed from C to S. >:)

      Is it school holidays already?

  • Great Price! I paid $45 usd for this set while living in the states a few years ago.

  • +2

Ticket to ride is also $40: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/649641

  • Has anyone tried the rules for 2 players?

    • Ideally you want you want to play this with min of 3 people. Sure two will work, but more fun with 3.

    • +1

Ticket to ride is $40, that is more ideal for 2 ppl.

    • Yep, they are fun and do work: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https:/…

We sometimes use a bank dice system to help too, e.g.

Roll a 1, pay 2 resources to bank
      2, pay one resource
      3, no trade
      4 no trade
      5, trade 1 for 1,
      6, trade 1 for 2

Yeah at this price, would jt definitely be a legit copy? I've seen some good fakes.

Definitely submit a complaint and claim all of your money back if it's a counterfeit. Just Google the comparisons (box should rip at edges easily, real should not), plus box should not be as glossy.

    • +1

As long as it’s shipped and sold by Amazon it should be fine. Other sellers on Amazon can occasionally be fakes though.

      • +3

The stock is all mingled together and treated as homogeneous. Any third party can set up to be fulfilled by Amazon and then boom you've got fakes in the system.

    • +3

Some Amazon buyer reviews says it’s poor quality.

      • +2

The reviews aren't specific to whichever seller sold it to them, so they're probably reviews of the occasional fake third party ones.

    • +3

I bought both the base game and Cities & Knights from Amazon a week ago and both the sets they sent me were fakes. I always suggest buying from a reputable boardgame distributor if possible and avoid going through the whole Amazon return process. Good luck and happy gaming!

Why do the expansions never go on sale 😢

  • +1

Be careful, I bought one from the previous deal and it feels like I've got a fake copy. The edges of the pieces aren't smooth, they don't connect together properly, and the colours feel a little off. A decent fake, but not a great one (unless the real game feels cheap than maybe I've got a real copy).

    • Yeh this is what I’m worried about

    • +2

Definitely get your money back, if it's not too late.
Everything is on your side if you claim counterfeit goods.

      • I didn't know I could do that, it's been maybe 10months now if not more.

        • +1

If you search for your orders on Amazon it usually tells you what your return window is

However there has been the occasional comment of Amazon giving a gift voucher/ refunding money if you send them images showing it was a fake. Worth taking a shot, worst case they knock you back

    • +1

      Hmmmm… Questionable seller?

      Seller

  • This is as cheap as I've found it on Ebay atm:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303724032570?var=602966667150

    Could be a fake?

    • If its too good to be true on eBay, most likely its fake.

  • +2

All these comments about potential fakes and the reviews saying potential fakes.. crap. i m having cold turkey now

never received a fake game from Amazon- maybe I've been lucky

but once received a game as not advertised- Monopoly
pictures on Amazon/ description showed UK properties
      game has US properties

      contacted Amazon on live chat
within 5 minutes got my money back
and got to keep the game

      • Thanks docians! Thats good to hear that Amazon is quite responsive and accomodating. I shall properly inspect the board game when it arrived

    • Haha don't worry, if you get a fake, play it a few times (make it non-re-sell-able), before making the claim to get your money back plus your inconvenience worth out of it, but if it's a keeper, no loss!! Just make sure you fight for it.

      • +1

        Doesn't have to resellable

When I contacted Amazon the box was unopened and you could see images of American properties on the base of the box

I think in this case they thought the cost of return postage plus restocking was more than the cost of the game

        • What he mean is if its non resellable, the seller wont be able to resell that particular copy to other people and prevent other people getting that same fake copy

Play the online version. Board Game version takes forever and is a mess to play.

    • +2

You need some better board game friends…

Online one is good too - colonist.io

  • I got mine how do i know if its fake or not it feeels legit
