could never understand this whole air fryer thing. Is it not just the same as the oven with fan on, just in a smaller form factor?

I was under the same impressions. Then my wife really wanted one.
Now it does not move off the bench (unless I take it out the back to do wings or fish so the house doesn’t smell). We use it every couple of days and it’s a lot quicker/crunchier.
Chips and crispy wings are my fav. We also do party pies and rolls in it.
Not the same brand, I have the Philips one.

I just cooked a single frozen four&twenty sausage roll for lunch without waiting for the huge oven to preheat or soggying it in the microwave.

      • Can't debate the sausage roll, but 4n20 pies are surprisingly fresh after four minutes in a powrful microwave and another couple of minutes on a cooling rack or even on a wooden cutting board.

        • read a trick before (that I have tested) - put a few paper towels on a plate and then put a frozen pie TOP DOWN on a plate. I cannot remember the time it took (I think 4 min on High). I then finished it in an oven for extra crisp

Because it's smaller it uses a lot less power, and due to the high airflow/heat it's great if you want things crispy - chips, wedges, chicken, bacon and so on. It's not a replacement for an oven, some things don't work well and can end up dry.

    • In a sense yes but it's a much more powerful fan and on the breville which is what I use the fan is as the same level as your tray so it does force it around the food.

    • Since I got a sous vide stick and an air fryer I have hardly touched my BBQ. Everything just comes out perfect.

    • Yeah basically. You’ll notice most people use it for cooking pre-cooked or deep fry food. These don’t “fry” with air, you need oil for that, so most people cook food that has the oil already embedded. Or it ends up dry and hard. I’ll probably get heavily corrected.

I was hoping this was a toaster oven. I’m not interested in an air fryer.

  • Already have a Philips air fryer. Should I get this one too?

They may mate when you sleep and you'll get even smaller ovens.

  • Air Fryers are great, but why would anyone pay 300% more for this compared to an Aldi one which is similar, or other OEMs at around $100 is beyond me. The markup is beyond insane on this.

    • So you don't need to replace it every year. Build quality is not the same. Especially when it came to the door seals. Kmart and aldi quality againt the breville subpar. They heat the heck out of your bencetop so insulation is also lacking

      • Have you bought 1 of each to comare and took them apart and noted insulation etc?

I have a $99 no brand one bought 5 years ago which is still going strong. I don't consider Cuisinart or Breville to be a particular high quality brand. They're not Toyota.

        • Yep the kmart one personally and aldi of a friends and it was absolutely crap. Ofc they arnt toyota that arnt cars and Toyota is a quality brand to you? Explains why you're happy with what you have, no vtec in either tho sadly

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: I've owned Skylines, 350z, Silvias, C70s but build quality wise Toyota/Lexus still ranks 1st out of all the makes I've had.My workplaces have had Breville and Cuisinart appliances before, and they are shit quality like the Ford and Holden of the motoring world. Not bottom of the pile garbage like Peugeots or Renaults, but not great either. That's been my experience.

            • @clubhonda: If agree if you just went with Lexus lol okay but these are appliances. Name a airfryer oven brand that is better than breville. Honestly none came to mind, bosch, miele, Panasonic, kenwood don't make them sooo it's all we got

  • Bought this from Amazon with Knob timer and heat setting, similar size/function, 23L > 17L, only $85. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08WPLTRYX/ref=sbl_dpx_au-kitch…

  • Was looking for this and bought one.
    Thanks

  • I have this exact oven and used it heaps.
