What's so special (apart from the 12 speeds) about this fan? I would rather go for the 15$ Kmart fan. Does its job pretty well.

I would rather buy 5 Kmart fans for that price

DC fans are usually more efficient and quieter than AC fans.

      • Kmart ones are also quiet.

        • Oh man they don't compare. A DC fan can use up to 70% less power.

DC motor, but yes it's a bit dear when it doesnt even have wifi.

DC Motor + Remote Control + Timer + Made In Australia + Sturdier base and construction (Rounded base instead of 4 prongs)

        Made In Australia

        I call bs

        • Country of Origin: Australia but yeh I would take it with a grain of salt. The motor is probably from China, with Australian assembly and packaging.

@silenthillrocks: yep even if stuff is made in australia, the machines they use to make the parts are from china.

I am supporting an Australian business, Kmart.

Why do you need a remote control and timer when you can plug this to a smart wifi switch

DC motor. All DC fans are pretty expensive. Having changed all my old ceiling fans with AC motors to fans with DC motors I would always recommend DC fans over AC. The greater variety of speed control is awesome, but probably the more significant change was how much quieter DC motors are. They're supposedly more energy efficient also, but for the small amount of energy a fan consumes I don't think that matters all that much.

I would also think that this particular fan has much better build quality when compared with a kmart one (but I don't know for certain).

      It's nice, I like!

    • Hardly a reason to neg a deal if you can't understand why.

We have 3x DC fans - they can be set to spin significantly quieter and slower than an AC fan, which is perfect for sleeping.

I found that the lowest speed on any regular AC fan was still too fast to be comfortable (not to mention louder). Yes, I tried many AC fans, cheap and expensive.

I have 1x Kogan, 1x Xiaomi and 1x Arlec DC fans and they're all great. The Xiaomi is probably my favourite due to the built in battery and smaller footprint.

This seriously is one absurd neg.
Literally you need to try DC or similar fans before negging.
Seriously, someone puts effort to publish deal here and just gets negged coz Kmart has something ‘different’ cheaper?

I had the same view as you have. However got one Kogan fan and couldn’t have been happier. The timer function is a life saver for me.

    • You neg the deal without knowing about the product, I neg you as I am using 3 of Media DC fan.

  • Wonder how this compares to the Kogan Premium Dc fan (first version), those are great.

I have one; its a rebadged Midea unit.

The remote is nicer compared to this listing (i.e it has a dial for controlling fan speed) but uses a button cell battery which is a bit annoying.

The unit in this post seems to have a remote using 2 x AA which seems more accessible.

Its pretty good for use overnight especially given the timer function and variable fan speed patterns.

Only problem is the blue backlighting and the feedback beeps.

      • +1

My light turns off when you hold the power button, if you have the same as me

        • Yeah, but you can't turn the light off with the remote.

I tinted the panel with some darkest legal tint, and it's much better. Still bright but not as obnoxiously bright as before.

Im skeptical that the fan itself is made or assembled in Australia as the same model number (rebadged) for sale in US on Amazon.com indicates made in China https://www.amazon.com/Pelonis-Pedestal-Efficency-Adjustable…

    • It's probably more Australian than other fans on the market lol, even if it's just 1% australian

Thanks OP, bought 2. All this talk of DC motors in the comments got me excited.

  • My fan came today, its very quiet at low speeds, almost silent. The LED lights turn off after a few seconds which is good for sleeping.
The circular base feels way more sturdy than my old $15 kmart fan, hopefully it will last the test of time. Its a bit taller than the old one too.
