Reccomend A Stand up Paddle Board (SUP)

Hi all,

Hoping to get some fresh perspectives on budget friendly SUPs after the post below is now a little old:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/434552

I am looking for an inflatable stand-up paddle board, preferably from eBay in the $250-450 price range. I've searched eBay (on the advice of the above post comments) and there are quite a few suppliers and models available so looking for some guidance as to which of these generic brands might be best. Prices seem roughly 30-40% below Anaconda even on sale.

Good for beginners but also something with enough quality features that we won't outgrow quickly. Will be primarily used on bays with smallish waves by users in the 5'10" 80-90kg range.

Cheers.

I bought one recently and used it for the first time at the weekend. I bought the Kings inflatable paddle board from 4WD Supacentre. I saw a few others had the same board on both days. It was pretty cheap and 7% cashback too.

I have nothing else to compare it to as its my first board but I'm happy with it. It's strong and big enough and comes with everything you need I. E. Pump, leash, backpack etc. I would recommend spending the extra money to get the better pump as the single pump needs more than 300 pumps to fill up the board and I was tired before I even got in the water.

Paddle boarding wasn't as easy as it looks and I definitely need more practice and probably need to try somewhere with calmer water.

    • Fantastic thanks for the tips! I've heard mixed reviews about the King's boards but I'll definitely check them out if you are happy.

    • How much fewer pumps is the upgraded pump? Maybe pumping it up is part of the exercise benefits of stand up paddleboarding.

    • Im looking to get one too. I tried out paddleboard, it certainly isnt as easy as it looks, always falling off.
How did you get the 7% cash back ?

It depends on where you do it. I tried at my local beach the first couple of times and even though that beach doesn't have big waves it was still difficult to stand up but after that, I tried at a local lake where the water is completely flat and it was easy to stand. I've tried again at the beach and it gets easier every time I go.

The cashback was through Cash Rewards, they must have had an increased cash back at the time as it is only 3.5% right now.

        • sweet. I just bought one. Completely forgot about the cash back ( such a bargain hunter noob move ). But if its only 3.5% it doesnt matter. Did get it on special with a pump effectively thrown in for free ( only $3 more than the non pump package ) + free shipping. So win win

  • Where are you located OP?

  • Picked up the Adventure Kings one a few weeks back. Got nothing to compare it to, but it seems fine.

  • I got an Anaconda SUP for the kids for Xmas last year - $300 from memory, but also need paddle. Took it out plenty of times.

When I stand on it, it floats and stays inflated. That's all I can judge it on, but on that basis, it seems fine.

Lots of people had these last summer and most raved about them, not sure if they lasted, but on the Murray every man and his dog was on one
Pretty good value delivered with a decent pump at $228.55 delivered (with SUPA10 promo code) right now

  • Merged from Any Recommendation for an Inflatable SUP?

    Hey everyone,

With my friends we would like to buy an inflatable SUP, the thing is that we have no idea what to look for in a SUP.

My friend sent me this link yesterday for a SUP at $229
    https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/kings-inflatable-stand-up-p…

Recommendations look good and in terms of dimensions, it's longer, wider, and thicker than other more expensive boards.

This leads to my question, this board seems awfully cheap compared to other inflatables SUPs I found at BCF and Anaconda. It seems like prices range between $350 to $1100 on other websites.

    I'd appreciate any thoughts/recommendations, thanks!

      • Hey thanks for the link mate.
It seems like a lot of people got the Kings paddleboard.

Ok I'm sold, I'm gonna go with that one with the upgraded pump.

        Thanks guys

    • Whichever one you end up with I hope it lasts longer than my inflatable dartboard.

      What’s SUP?

Nothing much. What's up with you?

      • underated message this

  • for OP's height and weight, you would like to go for a 10.6" board or bigger. Some of the boards in Anaconda are smaller.

The main difference between the more expensive board and budget board is the number of layers of plastic (I am sure there is a technical term there but I don't know.) So, if you intend to leave your board out in the sun during the day, just remember to deflate it slightly. Air expands and usually, budget boards are not made to accustomed too much of expansion, which causes the board to break.

Kings board is pretty good and I have seen an increasing number of them around. A couple of my friends uses the Anaconda Vapor board with no complaints. I have also heard good things about the Aldi SUP board, but I have not seen it going on special since. That is one board i am trying to get a spare for when friend wants to come paddle with me.

My board is iRocker Cruiser 10.6" and I have also used Red Paddle Co 10.6" before. They are both really stable and great for beginner.

  • Hey OP, what did you go with in the end? Happy with your choice?
