Afternoon Sun Makes Offiice Hot and Uncomfortable

Good morning,

I have been having lots of trouble with the afternoon sun and finding it hard to work due to the glare and heat. Has anybody dealt with this and found a solution? The curtains don't really do a good job. I was thinking about putting on some kind of reflective film but the products are many and overwhelming. I also imagnie sme wouldn't do what I need or would need to pay someone to put it on properly (can't do this in lockdown). It would also have to be removable as we are in a rental.

Any help wouold be much appreciated.

Jake

    Isn't lockdown over in Albury?

Just tape aluminium foil to the window.

Positive - you stay cool in the dark
Negative - neighbours think you're growing bud

    • Negative may be a positive in the right area.

Get a kids blackout curtain? Just sticks on with suction cups and blocks out the light. Cools down the room but also understandably blocks out airflow too…

  • Blockout Blinds?

Bamboo in pots placed in front of the window will do the job easily. Easy to sell or giveaway afterwards when you move out.

    • Do you just mean bamboo in pots?

  • You can buy window tint at bunnings or on ebay, you can even get the reflective one if you want it to be more effective, and yes it is removable once you are ready to move out

Better to stop the Sun hitting the glass than tint.

As suggested, plants or blind or sunshade cloth.

  • I use temporary stick on blinds from iseekblinds. Also Atomic cool portable fan even has a mister. And a second usb portable cooler. Plus spray mineral water kept in the fridge, sprayed on face.

  • I don't know what it's called but a mate put up this reflective clear thing on his windows in his office. It keeps out a lot of the heat but dims it a little bit.

  • That’s literally the suns job, it makes things hot

  • If its a work from home situation can't you work at night after sunset?
