      depends if you like busy watch faces, a big thing for me is easy to read with no glasses on so i like flieger watches and dive watches or plain dress watches ….. chrono i find get a bit too busy for me general wear.

      I'd just wear an Apple watch or G shock when hanging out with those people. but honestly they would know your financial situation already, and it'd be strange if you show up with a Rolex, wearing a Seiko is perfectly fine. I haven't seen a real watch person on Youtube making fun of Seiko watches

    Shame you can't really buy the SKX007 anymore.
    They were a pretty iconic diver, not too big etc.
    You could build an upgraded one from scratch in theory with parts from https://www.seikomods.com/ but still too expensive at $750
