  • add $3.95 handling fee though.

  • So many USB/eSATA drives.. when are NAS prices going to plummet??

  • Good deal - wonder if Officeworks were responding to any particular competitor offer.

  • I may be being pedantic here, but the use of so many exclamation marks gives me the rage.

    • wtf ???

      • Whoops, neg given by mistake.

        • that's the revoke neg- function if you need to :) lol..

maybe I was getting too excited :)

          • @elcheapo: It is pretty easy to mistakenly vote for one or the other actually. But I believe you can't take back the negative and vote positive for some reason.

            • @cacbm: Yes. It's a "feature" to prevent people who cannot make up their mind, i.e. vote -1, ops! revoke, vote +1, hmm no, revoke again, vote -1, d'oh!…

    • I quite like excalmation marks. in the digital world where your meaning can really be misinterpreted alot, things like exclamation marks and question marks can be useful.

I mean you can tell more about what I really mean with

happy! (happy) v's happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (obvioulsy really happy)
what? v's what????? (what the F*****?)

and it's much easier to just push the same button down for a while to express the emotion rather than write some long winded crap like this! :-)

I hope this helps your get over your irrational pedantic irk with the repetitive use of exclamation marks.

P.S. No, I'm not crazy, just bored this morning!

  • this is a great price. wonder what a wine bag is?

anyway. I have a 640GB version of this (coincidentally $139) and they are extremely quiet and responsive.

  • oops forgot to put in the code for the wine bag :(

  • How long is the warranty?

  • Nice find.

Wonder what HDD are in these? As in several places its listed as being a 7200rpm HDD inside - which would mean it'd have to be the 1tb Caviar Black wouldn't it? As I thought WD's other 1tb drive was the 5400rpm GP? Excluding the top end RE2's.

And the Cav Blacks are $200+ by themselves.

I'd figure the enclosure'd get pretty hot though - but good basic storage - and maybe even worth pulling open for a cheap HDD.

    • Nice deal. Was thinking the same thing Nikko. Cheapest WD 1TB Green Power (without case) on staticice is currently $165. Would really like to know if it is a GP or a Black inside.

      • Can't be a GP - as several places state these are 7200rpm HDDs and the GPs are sold as 5400rpm HDDs - atleast I'm pretty sure they are now.

I don't think the elements cases are easy to open though - nothing on the net I can find about them. Might be something a thread at WP or similar would solve.

        • Good point Nikko. In fact WD make a point of not officially stating the RPM of the GP drives at all yet citing 'intelli-power' instead. Some independent techies however asserted that they were indeed 5400rpm after running some sound tests.

  • Sold out

  • Good price!

  • i'll wait till it's below $100

  • U might need to wait for 1.5 year

    • I think it'll happen in 6 months as computer products drop every quater (3 months).

      • We actually have 1TB drive for a while, and are still waiting for the 2TB version. Although the spec of storage grows faster than the CPU speed, I think there is still some physical limitation…

Maybe storage provider will move onto multi-drive or pack more platers, just like how CPU vendors adding more cores.

  • Apparently some officeworks store still have them (Glebe for sure).

  • i tried to order one but apparently is not available anymore.

  • Is the wine bag full or empty?

  • i got the wine bag today but not the drive lol

  • Not sure if they've got new stock or whether its a state thing, but I ordered one yesterday and it arrived today (in Qld). Thanks for the bargain!

  • Great bargain. +1

Did anyone find out what drive is used in these?

When I plug in my external drive I am able to see the model number in XP sometimes…so can anyone post any details if they already got the drive?

  • i bought this recently. i got a free picture frame. they dont have the wine cooler anymore.

  • Cool deal thanx
