  • I assume this does not have a brushless motor?

  • Is the Ryobi 36V 650mm HP™ Brushless Hedge Trimmer at $319 worth the extra cash?

    • -8

      Ryobi is better than Ozito.

      • Oh so Ozito is a better brand than Ryobi?

        • -2

Ok the general consensus is that Ryobi are a shithouse brand in general and Ozito beat them in every way. Remembering that I was not making a comparison on what matthew and the OP linked.

Thanks for the advice. I'm so glad I use Ozito.

        • Nah Ozb got lots of Ozito fan boys and Ryobi getting shitty.

          • @boomramada: Previously OzBargainers were saying Ozito was bottom tier and Ryobi was next in line.

    • +1

It's the skin only so big price difference

    • +13

No, this has a 5 year warranty as well so you can't really go wrong with it. The price differences between Ozito and Ryobi are completely unjustifiable, only a Ryobi owner will tell you to go Ryobi because they already wasted their money on it

      • +1

So you don't see any benefits in brushless motor and extra power of 36v?

        • +2

Sorry I wasnt comparing them model to model, just a generic brand comparison. The Ryobi is a clear winner here, but Im sure Ozito has another model of this hedge cutter with similiar specs to the Ryobi one

          • @SanAndreas23: they make a 2x18v one not currently available though

            • @[Deactivated]: I've seen mixed feedback on performance of 2x18v being worse than single 36v battery and needing to keep batteries paired.

    • +2

different machines the Ryobi will cut through thicker branches and it also weighs a lot more the Ozito is great for the lighter better maintained hedges and I will recommend it for these.I'm a gardener I bought 1 for the wife to use as mine are to heavy she wasn't using it as it was still easier to get me to do it 😀 I have now added it to my equipment as it's so easy and light to use that it's my go to hedge trimmer for quick light trimming jobs and the heavy equipment only gets used when I have to

    • Ryobi is no good! pay less and get a stihl

  • If it's anything like the smaller version its pretty useless.

    • +2

Are you comparing to the 2 x 18V hedge trimmer, or comparing to the little 1 x 18V grass shears?

  • Isn't this normal price?
It's been $99 for at least a month.

    • +9

It is, yes. The last deal was this PLUS the leaf blower skin for $99. This isn't a deal.

      • and a handy duo these have proved to be.

        • I procrastinated thinking the latest lockdown would be short… then Bunnings pulled the hedge trimmer + leaf blower listing entirely. Regret.

  • +2

I have the short pole mounted attachment and it does a pretty good job. Not a bad price seeing the skin only is $89.00.

The Ozito PXC 2 twin battery skin has more appeal to me.

  • definitely need to do some tidying, don't have a large area to do though
would you guys get the ozito or this ryobi? both cordless and comes with battery/charger included
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-2-0ah-hedge-trimme…

    • at nearly 1/2 the price I would go ozito

      • Ozito it is then, thanks!

        • Yeah the OzBargain opinion is that everything Ozito is better than Ryobi. Saves you a lot more $$$ that's for sure.

  • Hmm I wonder if my attachments from my very old ozito trimmer kit (old battery system, battery has died) will work on this. Need a grass sheer attachment which I have in my old kit

  • +1

I bought the smaller version initially and as @SuperNintendoChalmers stated above it is useless… I went back and they exchanged it for this version and have to say that I'm very happy with it. Its 100x better than the smaller version and worth the buy for me. Trims anything I have so far. I would assume the Ryobi is a better unit as the blades seems a bit longer but I'm happy with this for private use… Garden service would most likely use something nicer

  • +1

If you are already invested in the Ozito ecosystem, I think this is fine for some home gardening. I have this and the smaller one and this one is pretty good for small jobs. It's lightweight and handy, which is good when you just need to whip it out and do some light hedging. If you haven't done hedging for a long long time, then it may still be best to pay someone to do it professionally, then you can use this to do regular maintenance.

  • +1

Need a matching discount for the skin only version!

    • Yup - been waiting a long time for the skin only to drop. It's about the only Ozito PXC item I don't yet own!

  • How's this compare to the ryobi version?
I already have some ryobi tools

    • Not sure if you’ll be able to find someone who has both, but I’m a ryobi user considering getting this ozito. Figured I won’t use it that much and it’s cheaper than the ryobi equilavent.

But if there is someone that has both I’d also like to know!

  • +1

I have this and have commented before when it has been on. If you are doing any real hedging this is completely useless. If you have a few light fluffy shrubs to keep in check and have other Ozito stuff then it will work, but slowly. I have 3 various petrol and 1 corded Makita, a pole hedger and this thing. I tend to only use the Echo petrol for most everything and the Makita for some finer work. This might get used only if I see a rouge spurt of new growth on something in winter, if at all.

    • You must have a big shed to fit all of those hedgers.
