Seagate FireCuda 510 500GB 3450MB/s PCIe Gen 3 NVMe M.2 (2280) SSD $80.10 Delivered + Surcharge @ Shopping Express

370

SE is having a sale for Seagate SSD (10% off + free delivery), says for Gen4 but seems applied to all it's SSD products. I had a look and found this one, ordered and it's on the way to me.

Not sure if this is a price error as Barracuda 510 500GB is selling for the same price.

Surcharge on select payment methods.

*Update: Just received mine. They even shipped it with overnight express!

    seems like a good deal, now I need a CPU+MB+RAM :D

    • I thought so, but doesn't seem to get much response here… Maybe not being a popular brand for SSD?

      • Probably the higher cost per TB puts people off from the start, especially since it's only a gen 3 drive

I think it is expensive at retail price. $119 at Amazon. I think this could be a good OS drive with DRAM, good speeds etc.

would this be a good addition to my Synology DS 920+ NAS as cache drive?

    • I was thinking just this for my 1019+ myself, problem is you'd want 2 for read/write cache but max for deal is just 1.

650TBW on the 500GB model (I think with the way cache drive uses RAM, that'd probably be the best bet if you've got 8GB RAM in your Synology).

endurance for the other higher capacity drives is 1300TBW for 1GB and 2600TBW for 2GB.

Only 300TBW for 250GB, not ideal for long term NAS use.

If you haven't picked up something already.

  • can this be used with a m2 enclosure to be used as a portable ssd?

    • +1

Make sure it at least supports NVMe M.2. then you should be good.

      • thanks.

I got a NVMe 10Gbps Enclosure for $15.14 delivered from this deal but still waiting for SSD to arrive (SN550). The price of the enclosure had increased now though. Make sure your PC has USB3.1 GEN2 or faster USB ports as well for 10 Gbps.

          • @bazingaa: thanks mate

          • @bazingaa: You need 27 gigabits to fully use the 3400mbps of the ssd.

            • @McOzbargainer: yep, I got that enclosure + SN550 for missus for extra storage. Her laptop only has one M.2 slot with SKHynix 500 GB, also lacks 20 Gbps or 40 Gbps USB.

  • any good for a ps5?

    • +3

100% do not buy this drive for a PS5. You should ensure its a gen 4 for the PS5.
Check out the Linux Tech Tips channel about using an incompatible ssd. If it's a Gen 4 it'll let you use it but if it's a Gen 3 it won't at all.
Also the PS5 suggests a drive with speeds of at least 5500MB/s

      • Ah yes, good old Linux Tech Tipos

        • Would you prefer its called Freekus

  • What do I need to buy in additional to put in 2015 MacBook?

    • Need an adapter. Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME SSD Adapter
Refer to 'Upgrading 2013/2014 Macbook Pro SSD to M.2 NVMe' on MacRumors forum.
Good writeup. Just did for an 11" Air a few weeks ago.
