I have both of these. Sound is okay.

Control system for true engine is a bit fiddly.
True free u have to physically press and sometimes have to press too hard to get a reaction (hurts ears)

Engines fit was not secure even with the comply tips for me. True free fits super good due to ear fin design.

Truefree fell apart after 2 months. Rep told me to use super glue to glue it back together lmfao.

Take all amazon reviews with grain of salt as they’re all incentivised with either 50% off next purchase or part credit.

    Sound was acceptable for both.

For calls I had issues with both saying I sounded far away or muffled.

All reviews for these Chinese brands are suss. Youtubers, sites, and what not. They are typically smallish outlets and and these brands just send them freebies to try out, and obviously to keep on receiving freebies, the reviews lean on the good rather than the bad.

Sound quality for me is great for the price, once i get the seal right. Materials make it feel premium but the pairing on mine (profanity) 3 months after use; i now have to reset, turn off, turn on then pair to have both the earbuds synced. You're lucky if you've found a good working pair otherwise stick other reputable brands.

Can highly recommend the wired q35hd model! I use them all the time when running.

The SoundPEATS Sonic is a few dollars cheaper than the Truengine 3 SE, and I've been really happy with mine over the past year. Use them at the gym and at the park with a lot of movement, and they sound good and stay comfortably in my ears without problem. Longer playing time and 5.2 over 5.0 bluetooth were a couple of things that swayed me, and subjectively I think they look better and are probably likely to fit a broader range of ear sizes!

I am not sure about the Sonic, some have a difference view.

Xiangtan complains about the Sonic every chance he/she gets. I really haven't seen others bag them as much as they do…. It's only 1 person.

I find the Sonics the best fit out of all of them. The battery life is phenomenal, sound quality is definitely good and love the physical buttons on the Sonics.

Have gotten rid of / returned the TrueAir 2 and True Engine for various reasons including fit, sound quality/isolation and the fact that I can't stand so called smart controls.

        • I am OK with 3 SE, the only issue is the aptX with my phone, the phone detected aptX adaptive but didn't work, I have to go to developer mode to change it to normal aptX.

          • @superforever: With the 3SE I couldn't get a good fit so sound isolation was an issue and part of the plastic /body was digging into my ears, just not a good fit for me.

That and the controls annoyed me.

So obviously it depends what your priorities are and whether something physically fits you. I have bought probably 5 different soundpeats now

            • @nismo:

              With the 3SE I couldn't get a good fit

How long ago you bought your 3 SE? The current model comes with one set of comply foam eartips which should solve your problem, it is so comfortable.

              • @superforever: Was either Dec or Jan. Yes they came with comply foam, 1 pair, but you are assuming way too much…

They came with M size comply foam and were way too small for me.

Not everyone has the same size ear canal… And generally the ear tips that work for me are L or XL, if available.

Also, even if I bought my own L size comply, the pain of the earphones digging in was too much for comfort.

                • @nismo: In that case may be you are only good with overhead headphone.

            • @nismo: You are in a good position to judge…

Anyone who uses the term "tinfoil sound" to describe the Sonics….less credible.

  • How would the H1 compare to say the Jabra Elite 75t Active? I like the Jabra's, except they keep falling out of my ears :/

  • Finally got the TrueAir2 after ages tossing it up. Have a few in-ear buds (which I prefer), but it feels so sketchy blocking out that much noise when riding my bike

Only lasted me one month before one earphone broke. I messaged and they said it's common and offered to send me 3 left earphones that had been returned and said surely one would work. Couldn't believe it.

Try online chat with Amazon, don't ask the seller, they will allow you to return it even after one month if broken.

I returned my True Air 2 after 10 months because battery didn't last long.

  • +1

You might get lucky with a pair that lasts more than a few months, but may have to reset them constantly. IMO worth spending a little more to get a good a quality set. Trueair2 sound is very poor at best, wise than AirPods and galaxy buds live, and mic is terrible unless there is no sound at ask around you

    • Did you buy it from Amazon AMR? Not most people said, I have it for more than 10 months, no problem with music and calls. Only issue after 10 months the battery didn't last more than 2 hours.

      • +1

Yep I did. Got a replacement and have just returned that now. I just don’t think it’s worth the risk in time and money, just spend a little more and get a quality set. I mean unless all you want is a cheap set that you don’t care about and don’t care if it stops working in a year or less

    • I ordered a pair of TrueAir2 earlier today, currently have the original AirPods gen 1, I will compare them once I receive mine.

      • Nice, I just sent my second pair back. Going to get AirPods 3. I tried to save money but just wasted time hey.

        • Received my pair yesterday. Brief comparison listening to a few songs, the sound of AirPods is smoother while the TrueAir2 is slightly louder and has stronger bass.

          • @edfoo: Yea true air is all bass and all treble. Nothing in between. Keen to see new AirPods in a week.

            • @onlinepred: A bit of an exaggeration there, I don't think TrueAir 2 is that bad like what you said. As for a new AirPods gen 3, it is just a rumour. I will believe it when Apple officially announces it.

              • @edfoo: Just wait and see, hopefully your buds won’t start disconnecting. Sounds quality wise though they are pretty darn good for $35, quite bad when compared to galaxy buds live or airpods though. Mic is very bad too unless you are in a quiet room. Overall you get what you pay for right

  • I’ve got a couple of pairs of the Trueair2 and use them for watching TV.

They don’t have appreciable lag and the battery life is not bad. What does annoy me is they won’t automatically connect to my Sony TV. A lower model and a Logitech set do connect automatically.

They are comfortable wearing them for a couple of hours.

  • +1

I love soundpeats, but I have two pairs of true engines 3 and both pair have had major connectivity problems. So bad I have not been able to use them. I had to repair the ear buds to each other then repair to the phone each time I wanted to use them. I should have returned them but I am too lazy.
