Bought this a couple of weeks ago and it's fantastic. It also came 3 weeks earlier than the shipping estimation.

    • +1

Same here. Had it delivered a couple weeks back, loving it. Such a step up from my previous 2k monitor!

      • +1

Which monitor did you have before?

  • Nice Any suggestion for good monitor for work purpose ?

    • -1

I wouldn't get this for work. Go with the 4k 75hz for around $300-350

      • +2

4K scales terribly particularly on a 27". I'd go ultra wide for office work, putting 3+ documents side by side

        • Out of curiosity. Whats a good size for 4K. Just got my own future reference when im in the market for the 4K monitor

      • What are your thoughts on SQ2721QS for work?

        • +4

I bought the QS as a second monitor and to summarize 4k scales quite terribly at 27". Things are way too tiny to see, ended up having to resize image by 125 to 150% which defeats the purpose of having 4k. Things start to get blurry.

That pretty much sums it up, build quality is also not as great as the dgf but you get what you pay for in this instance.

Definitely stick to a 2k monitor for 27inch, never more or less.

    • +1

If you're likely to use the four corners of the monitor, something like this S3221QS is a good option. Other 4K monitors on sale.

Otherwise, if you think you'd need horizontal space for two windows, perhaps something like the Dell S3422DWG? The non-gaming variant is no longer on sale, but not much difference between them.

Personally, I use a 4K monitor for working from home as I have 4 1080p monitors at work and they split perfectly into each corner. For gaming, I use the monitor in this deal posting above (S2721DGF).

      • Thanks for your inputs

    • +1

If your work involves coding or viewing lots of different windows, get a ultra-wide screen so you can view 2 windows side by side.

      • or 2 monitors. or 3.

    • +1

This monitor is a great gaming monitor but also a pretty good all rounder. I use mine as a work from home monitor and some gaming. Though ideally for work a 32" 4K monitor is the thing.

      • Thanks mate. Any deal you came across for 32" recently

        • No.. I don't have enough room to consider getting a second monitor just for work. If you want a good gaming monitor that is also pretty good for work then this is the one. If you just want a work monitor then search ozbargain for recent 32" monitor deals and comments.

        • Yes they have 3 on sale, check their ebay. This one is 4k if thats what you want. Dell 32 Curved 4K UHD S3221QS Monitor AMD FreeSync 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz 20% off* with code DELLSAVE.

          • @JoeSchmogan: Is this a good monitor for photoshop/light room? My wife is a photographer

          • @JoeSchmogan: Thanks. It was sale last month for 370$ it seems with $100 less than current price I'll keep watching this

    • +2

I had the S2721D. Absolutely perfect for work. Crisp and just the right size to have multiple document windows open (I run pdfs and word docs side by side for my work.

I'd heard the same as the above comments and avoided the 4K. Found the qhd was perfect and easy on the eyes.

My cat knocked it off of my desk on Monday morning, so I've just bought another, but the S2721DS (adjustable stand).

      Good luck.

      • +1

+1 for the S2721D. I bought 2for my work setup back in April for $239 each through Dell's eBay.

In my opinion, 27" 1440p is the sweet spot for size & resolution. A few people in the office who had previously only used 24" 1080p monitors commented on how much better the size and image quality are haha.

The 75 Hz refresh rate isn't much smoother than 60 Hz in my opinion. I've got one of the S2721D's and my old 27" 1440p 144Hz monitor side by side on my desk now. The image/colours on the dell are better although there is a very noticeable difference between the refresh rates. Perfectly fine for work however!

        • Very true I put the 60hz and 165hz monitor side by side and the difference in refresh rate is very noticeable. Seems like the 60hz is almost stuttering, but if you use 60hz on its own it seems okay again! The eyes get spoilt by 165hz….

    • I used it for work and gaming, love it !!

    • Something I didn't see mentioned by others - consider your GPU power.

I run a 2018 Macbook (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB) for work, 4K performance for me was laggy as hell not even under heavy load (Chrome and Slack), single monitor only, with scaled UI at 150% (which you probably need, unless you have the eyes of a hawk and can run at 4K native).

Much happier running at 1440p on my Dell S2721DGF, though I do miss the crisp text of 4K@27"

  • +1

does OzB have a historical price on these things… its always on special and I really want to know what is the lowest its ever been.

    • +4

      399

      • thanks

        • +3

I got it for $359.00 in May this year, so historical low cannot be $399

          • +3

@Dvbargain: Probably didn't include 5 year premium warranty though, so poster above is probably correct with $399, on second thoughts

          • +1

@Dvbargain: MVP price right there, nice

            • @blazerunner: Thank ozbargain and people who do mad deal posts. The only one I've ever done got bagged out lol.

    • +3

Search OzBargain for the model number, before you hit enter it'll come up with a link to the product page on OzB.

Lowest ever looks like $359, though the details are a little sketchy in that post.
      Then $383.25.
And it's regularly on sale for $399.
Though none of these three prices look like they included the 5 year warranty.

    • yup I got it on that eBay sale for $359 too. It didn't go out of stock that fast either, I swear it was up for a day or two or so at least. Think it was limit one per account.

I actually bought one the week prior to that at $408, which at that time was already a really good deal - bf stole and claimed both monitors for himself haha - now after $700+ spent I still have zero monitors.

  • But when i clicked the link it says $548. why is that?

    • +1

You need to use the code on checkout.

    • i'm praying this isn't bait.

but you need to apply the code in the description.

  • How does this compare to 1440p monitors which are double+ in price? I heard this monitor was great but just wanted to know of the compromises

    • +2

I really like mine, have owned it since August last year. 165hz is such a massive difference over 60hz, and the resolution is really good for work. Works great on both Linux/Windows, make sure you have a display port cable that supports 165hz.

    • +1

Rtings gives the monitor a very decent score. Only thing missing vs some others is black frame insertion, but unless you really want/need it, not a deal breaker. Overall, I've been very happy with this monitor (having owned it for 8 months). Great color, very bright, uniform panel, very input low latency, fast pixel response times and, of course, 165Hz refresh rate.

  • Does the Dell eBay store ever have 24" displays?

  • +1

Does anyone know of a good VESA mount if I wanted to have two screens on bottom and one on top? I bought two of these myself, I'd like to mount my old monitor on top of these two.

  • +1

Could anyone fix the oversaturated colours on this monitor?
Looks like there's no fix for that :(

    • My old Dell has a saturation slider which can take it all the way to black and white, does this monitor not have the same thing?

    • Preset Modes > Custom Color > Saturation. You're then provided with RGB and CMY sliders. Not that I've found anything wrong with the default saturation.

      • The problem is that this monitor comes by default with DCI-P3 colour gamut, and sRGB content (basically everything) looks oversaturated.
And there is no way to clamp the gamut into sRGB colour space.

        • i dont know the particular details but if you want sRGB you need to use an ICC colour profile.

  • Will this monitor work with Intel iris xe graphics?

    • Look for a monochrome monitor

    • Yes this will work with Intel Iris XE graphics. You might not run games at 165hz/144hz 1440p though unless you put them right down in quality. If you want 165hz, you'll need to use a DisplayPort cable that supports this, otherwise HDMI goes up to 144hz only (it comes supplied with one in the box).

I use this monitor for gaming (on PC at 165hz DisplayPort) and for working (programming on a Mac at 144hz) and the screen is of great value.

Hope I answered your questions/addressed your concerns! I am not even affiliated with Dell but I really like this monitor.

      • I have a laptop with Xe graphics and HDMI 1.4b port which I want to connect to it. I am not sure it will take full advantage of resolution and refresh rate this monitor has.

        • If you use HDMI 1.4b I think it may be limited to 60 Hz refresh.
However most laptops these days can output DisplayPort over USBC which should be good for 165Hz 1440p. See if your laptop has a USBC port with DP (Display Port) Alt mode.

        • I think the maximum refresh rate possible is 73hz at 1440p. Look at buying a USB C DisplayPort cable if you've got any USB C ports on your laptop to get the full refresh rate possible with this monitor. The refresh rate really makes a difference, and you won't be able to go back to 60hz without noticing it!

Edit: ^ See above Phoebus comment - hit the nail on the head

          • @RyanG01: It does have usb-c port but unfortunately it only supports power and data transfer.

            • @Shak87: if the only video output is HDMI1.4 then it will be limited to 60Hz on any 1440p monitor, which is ok for work but not ideal for gaming.

              • @Phoebus: In that case, I might go for FHD monitor when they have it in stock. Not sure how bad 1080p looks on 27 inch monitor.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the S2722DGM?

    • +1

      DGM is:
      1) Curved
      2) Has a VA panel as opposed to the IPS this one has

      • I thought there would be more since the initial price of this one is $200 higher, i guess ips has a higher price point.

        • +2

          S2722DGM vs S2721DGF .

          Key differences:

          • S2721DGF has poorer black uniformity (nature of IPS)
          • S2721DGF has better color palette (10bit vs 8bit)
          • S2721DGF has DisplayPort 1.4 vs 1.2
          • S2721DGF has faster response times
          • S2721DGF has basic HDR
          • S2722DGM has (average) Black Frame Insertion
          • @Murpha: Ive already got an ips monitor (27GL850-B) so im keen to see how VA monitors compare, but by the sounds of it they seem more suitable for gaming in general.

  • -1

For office work, I wouldn't recommend 2k when theres 4K with not much diff on price. I have 4K and recently bought an UWQHD (S3422DWG) and the text is so blurry compared to 4k (I also have Dell QHD ultrasharp and its blurry as well). 4K is here, enjoy the it. :-)

    • I would recommend 2k at 27", you don't need to rely on any windows or app scaling and it still looks excellent. Of course if you're buying a 34" monitor then yes, 4K would be a better option, but the one posted here is 27".

For reference I bought a 27" 4k in the last Dell deal and somewhat regret it. I'll probably end up selling this and getting a 2k version eventually.

      • -1

My AOC 27 4K is pretty sharp in both windows (10 and 11) and mac. Both my 25inch and 34 inch 2Ks are blurred in both windows (10 and 11) and mac.

    • +3

Disagree. You need a microscope to use 4K at 27".

      2k for 27"
      4k for 32"+

For work purposes a dual setup of this one is superior to a single 4k 32" imo.

      • I feel like the windows 10 scaling would have issues with 4k at 27 inch since everything would be so small, seems like you might as well get a larger screen so you dont need to use binoculars.

      • you need to scale of course, 4K will be tiny yeah without scaling. But once you scale, its so sharp compared to 2k. I tested this with 3 QHD (I sold a one before) and 1 4K, I mean I compared side-by-side. have you?

        • How far are your eyes away from the monitor?

        • I'm sure after scaling it does look sharper to a degree, but there would no doubt be diminishing returns after a certain point. I guess you gotta prioritize whether you want a decent amount of added sharpness at 27 inch or more screen space with 32 inch.

There is a good post that's gone into this on reddit:
          https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/ita4nm/my_take_on…

          • @BKB: Nice post mate.

tho, looking at the first few comments

"I love running 4K in HiDPI mode, hard to go back as the text is crisp"

"Have you actually worked on a 4K monitor for a significant amount of time and then switched back to 1440p ? I have and sure enough, 1440p looks "just fine"… But when you spend 8 hours a day coding on a hidpi monitor, when you get back to 1440p the text is just not as sharp, and no amount of Cleartype voodoo can change that. The HiDPI is much more comfortable and allows you to reduce the text size without feeling uncomfortable. I was amazed at how small a text I'm actually able to read when the resolution is high enough."

            • @JsonDough: Those comments aren't relevant to what i mentioned above though? They are arguing that 4k is better at 27 inch compared to 1440p.
What i was getting at was whether to go 27 inch 4k or 32 inch 4k, and by the looks of the pixel density table in the post, the difference in quality wouldn't be worth having a noticeably small screen, unless said person prefers a smaller screen. I'm gathering most would go 32 inch for said reasons.

  • +1

This is a great monitor (I upgraded from the S2719DGF - I use as a secondary monitor). Colours and resolution are great, no issues with working with text and code (text is quite sharp). Gaming is perfect on the monitor.

The only issue I found is on M1 Macs, the colour space does not use RGB but I found a script that forces RGB on M1 Macs (it is a Mac issue and not Dell issue - google M1 Mac monitor not RGB). This was after talking to Apple support who weren't that useful. I can supply the script I used if anyone needs it with an M1 Mac.

  • +3

Everybody should have this monitor by now. It’s threads are mostly reviews feedbacks

  • +1

Bought this a few months back, great monitor.

For those wondering, I believe Dell gives a long delivery time because they don't manage orders on ebay. They compile all the ebay orders every day then process and manage on their own system. They only go back to the ebay order just to close it.

I was given 6 weeks lead time and received it in 2 weeks.

  • Just wondering if anyone can help me out with this issue.
I purchased this monitor from the Afterpay sale a few weeks back. Just arrived two days ago.

Got it connected to my Lenovo laptop using DP to USB C. I'm having this issue where the screen is intermittently going black for a second randomly. This happens more frequently sometimes and less frequently other times. So confused to what it could be.
All drivers are updated (i.e graphics, monitor). Tried turning Freesync off from the OSD and the black screen happened less frequently but still occurred. HDMI seems to also have this issue but much less than when connected through DP to USB C.

Wondering if it's something to do with my laptop having both discrete and integrated graphics. I know that the laptop switches between both the 1650 and AMD integrated gpu at cerrtain times. I tried forcing Windows to only use the Nvidia discrete graphics but the problem persists.

    Someone HELPPP.

    • +1

I would try turning off the setting to switch between graphics and lock it to hardware only if you are always plugged in. You'll need to find other users' tweaks on this online but i think its related to that. Have that issues on my MSI and a few of its power saving settings.

      • already tried that through the Nvidia control panel.. unfortunately same issue

        • is there a hard setting in BIOS?

    • +1

Try a 3rd cable and another device. Mine doesn't do this

      • will give that a go too.. need to buy another DP to USB C

    • Just figured it out… If anyone is experiencing this issue. Swapping from 10 bit colour depth to 8 bit fixed it for me.
I am using a DP 1.2 to USB C cable.

    • Happened to me exactly. I am also using DP to usbc. I just had to insert the DP properly as it went loose when I accidentally hit it.

      • Weird.. I think I probably plugged and unplugged like 10 times lol. Only way for me was to switch to 8 bit colour depth. I may have a faulty cable.

  • +2

the monitor is amazingly good for those wanting it.

I have tested this with my PC at full 165hz with HDR and all the different colour modes.
I have also tested this at 1440p at 120hz on the xbox series X with HDR.
and on teh Playstation 5 at 1080p 120hz with HDR.

Works amazingly well and looks amazing.

well worth the money thsi monitor doesnt have any back lighting issues either. so nice image, good price.

    • Have you found a way to clamp the colours to sRGB space?

      • you can if you have an Nvidia graphics card. No idea if this is possiable with AMD.

        • How do you do it with Nvidia?

    • Wait does your Xbox give this a tick in the HDR settings? Mine tells me HDR not available? Seems I might have missed something

      • you need to turn it on in the monitor settings HDR isn't enabled by default so your xbox won't see it as a hdr display till you do.

    • Does VRR or FreeSync work at 120fps with this monitor on the series x?

      • yes its a AMD graphics card in the xbox just like ps5 has and AMD graphics card no Nvidia stuff here.

        • Thanks.

Can you please confirm that you can have VRR/Freesync and 120FPS options turned on at the same time on the series x?

On a side note, is VRR and Freesync the same thing?

          • @dudebargain: I have that turned on yes you need it turned on or the xbox doesn't want to enable 120hz

  • Anyone got a link for a 4k flat dell monitor. 27"+.
    Budget is under $600.
Will use it mostly for work and some movie streaming.

    • P2721Q (try to ask for a 7% discount)

  • Thanks. Just got one as I missed out on the last one
