“ Founded in 2005, plus-kitchen.com was created through a shared passion for fashion, design, art, and music.”

    • You do know that's an American site, right? If the prices are too good to be true, it's probably because it's in American dollars.

    • There are a few red flags there. I would avoid based on it being overseas and this:

Prices sound too good to be true.

      100% scam for reasons like:
No records of 15 year history in Wayback machine, not even a recent copy of the site: https://web.archive.org/web/20231001000000*/https://www.plus…
      plus-kitchen.com was registered on:Wednesday 23rd of August 2023
Website source code contains old refences to https://www.grubby-war3.xyz/ (probably a recycled website)
      https://www.grubby-war3.xyz/ is mentioned on https://www.scamdoc.com/view/1179502
FAQs contains copy/paste info from other sites: "After I place an order, how fast do you ship? Our goal at Husqva Outlet is to ship your items out…"
Address of 245 Hummingbird Way Winchester MA US 01890 does not exist according to Google, and Abous Us mentions "collective vision was to bring world-renowned names, emerging designers and unearthing brands from all corners of the globe to northeast England’s like-minded community."
I'm not going to look any further…

  • Merged from Is This Stamp Website Legit?

    Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying some stamps from https://australpost.com/ but I am seeing some red flags. There are some typos on the webpage, no reviews seem to have been left by anyone from what I can see and the prices are very competitive.

On the other hand I could be off base. The website has loads of listings with quite a bit of detail so it would be quite elaborate for a scam. Has anyone heard of this website before? Do you think I should steer clear?

    • +1

There are some typos on the webpage

      Thats often a red flag.

Domain is got Domain Privacy on, so cannot see a lot of info. DNS Points to Google DNS……. most likely a dodgy domain/site. Especially being a .com.

    • URL is Australpost.com - note it should be Auspost.com.au. to be actually Australia Post.
Although they don't actually claim to be Australia Post they try and have you believe they are by selling their products.
Their pricing is below that of Australia Post's wholesale prices.
      A scam for sure.

    • I think it's a pretty elaborate scam as they are paying to use Shopify as their website framework.
It may be a legitimate shop considering there is no way to prove it is not - BUT the website owners would be dumb as dog shit to not want to make themselves look legitimate if they wanted to actually sell stuff.
People that may (or probably) have been scammed would have no one to report it to that can take action, it is a site hosted overseas using a .com domain name.
If they post on a scam report site online it gets lost in the Google search results as the name is so similar to the real deal.
I doubt that a layman could tell it is a Shopify site, so they probably haven't been reported (often enough) to Shopify themselves to ban them from their platform.

However even if it was legitimate, i wouldn't use it because:
Unrealistic pricing is a giveaway. If it's too good to be true….
Dodgy Wayback archive history with a few different versions of the site over 3 years: https://web.archive.org/web/20230301000000*/australpost.com
No contact info (this point alone would make me not buy from any online shop)
Dealing specifically with Australian products/customers but with a .com domain
Dealing specifically with Australian products/customers but with no ABN
No Terms and Conditions or Privacy policy other than boilerplate/generic Shopify policies
The name is so close to the real deal that it is impossible to Google them for info previous scam history - Google just shows Australia Post results

In summary, I concur with above posters, its is most likely a scam.

  • Hi all, I just saw a shopping site woxomart.com
Have anyone buy from them before?
    Is woxomart.com Legit?
    1. Their prices are very low like the Temu (but I won't buy from them…yet)
    2. I tried to register this site, but can't find a register button.
    3. A lot of people said it is a scam
    4. Some said it is ok, but a lot of people get a refund.
    Any idea?

    • YES, it is a scam. Just google them to see the reviews from the poor souls already scammed:

  • Merged from Traveluro Reviews - Scam?

Has anyone had any experience with Traveluro (www.traveluro.com)?

I used them to book a hotel as they appeared as the cheapest through Google search. The booking said free cancellation but there's no way to cancel as all they sent was a follow up email with the credit card payment and a booking code from a no reply address. Trying to enter the booking code on the site results in an invalid message. That's what set alarm bells off

    Many Traveluro reviews are bad:

    Has anyone had any experience?

    • +1

      cheapest through Google search.

      Here in lies the problem.

    • How much cheaper were they than a reputable site?

      • A group of sites are within about 10% of each other at the cheaper end (Traveluro, Super.com, GoSplitty, Vio, GoSeek etc).

From what I can tell, Holisto is the parent company of Traveluro and some of these.

Agoda, Booking com, Wotif, Priceline, Hotels.com are around 20% more expensive per night than the first group above.

All of these appear when you put the hotel name into Google and the prices are listed.

I'd be surprised if Google would let you click off to a scam from one of their listings but the many negative reviews and the fact you can't manage your booking on the site perhaps indicate otherwise.

        • I'd be surprised if Google would let you click off to a scam from one of their listings but the many negative reviews and the fact you can't manage your booking on the site perhaps indicate otherwise.

There are plenty of cases where dodgy companies use sponsored links to lure victims.

You still need due diligence when dealing with random companies found from Google.

        • I'd be surprised if Google would let you click off to a scam from one of their listings

Prepared to be surprised, my friend. Think about it: most people use Google, so scammers naturally want to be featured in Google search results. How else will they get suckers passers-by looking to find something just a little bit cheaper?

          • @blitz: Does Google do any checks before they let companies add themselves to their affiliate/referral listings?

This wasn't a simple search where I clicked a generic search listing. I searched for the hotel name and Google presented a list of options with prices.

If there's no checks and balances on Google's end for this, then anyone could add themselves to a highly prominent position and undercut Expedia, Agoda etc with dodgy listings which I suspect they would complain about.

Perhaps Google is prioritising greed over vetting the listings? Wouldn't surprise me given how bad their offshored service is.

Am looking a purchasing fromhttps://www.bobleisure-australia.com/ and can't decide if this is a good idea or not. It seams like a legit company based in Germany and has good reviews online, not that that means much these days. Has anyone used this site before and what was your experience?

          • -4

@AJW: Also what do you mean by an Australian based site. You don't need to be an Australian company to have a .com.au domain.

I use hundreds of overseas sites with .com.au domains. For example the very trusted British company wiggle that uses wiggle.com.au for Australia, .com for the US, and .EU for Europe.

I'm guessing you don't have much experience purchasing from overseas based companies.

            • +2

              @McGeeski:

I'm guessing you don't have much experience purchasing from overseas based companies.

              I have plenty

Maybe do some research on the actual site linked, then try to pretend like you're better than me.

For now you're just being dangerous by suggesting ppl buy from that obviously dodgy site

For example the very trusted British company wiggle that uses wiggle.com.au for Australia, .com for the US, and .EU for Europe.

But they don't call themselves "Wiggle Australia" and supply support phone numbers and addresses for Germany, do they?

              • -2

@spackbace: I've never suggested anyone should buy from this site. As I stated above I am looking for anyone who has purchase from them, as I would like to know what there experience was like.

            • +1

@McGeeski: You actually DO need an ABN to register and use a .com.au as they are quite strictly controlled.

            • +2

@McGeeski: Well if you're so confident, why are you asking whether it's a legit site or not?

            • +2

@McGeeski: I think you deserve to buy from this site - you are that kind of guy.
Go for it - but everyone else should avoid at all costs lol

What a tool, having a go at the people trying to help you…

              • -3

@AJW: Great feedback. As I asked in the original post and stated again in response to your post, I am looking for people that have used this site and would like to know what experience they had.

        • Wait, did you just try to correct me by using the wrong site as a reference? 😂

      https://au.trustpilot.com/review/gamecardshop.com

      Seems ok?

      • Yea, that's what I thought as well. But I just did a purchase and the product key can't be validated via microsoft.

        • I just went through this process 'product key not recognised' after buying a Microsoft365 Subscription 5 user family subscription from Amamzon.com.au from the official Microsoft Store. I tried to renew my family subscription but it kept saying the product key was not recognised.

Contacted Microsoft support via livechat and they said that because it was a key from Amazon that it would need to be used to renew and not top-up my existing subscription. I pointed out the reviews said people were using it for renewals, and that I had bought keys before (from Ozbargain specials) to always top-up my subscription, but they insisted that this particular key could only be used once my current subscription had expired, or on a new account.

They turned off my auto-renew and checked the key and said it was recognised, so now I am waiting a few more days for my current subscription to expire to use it.

  • Merged from Trip.com Legit to Book Airfare?

Hi all, checking a domestic from Adelaide to Hobart. Realised the fare on trip.com is almost half of what official Virgin site is.

Any catch here? Just feel like too good to be true.

    • +3

You'll pay a lot if you need to make any kind of change, Virgin will refuse to touch your ticket.

      • Well likely no change, but what about delay in connecting flights?

        • AFAIK that's on the airline but it has to be the same ticket? If you book two separate tickets, you're SOL.

    • +3

Trip.com is legit. It is a massive multinational company that also owns Skyscanner.

Just like other OTAs, be wary of 'drip pricing', sudden changes in price during the booking process, no refunds, luggage extra etc etc etc.

Suggest you do a dummy booking right upto the payment page, to see if the price reflects what was initially presented.

Also, as Soan papdi has said……changes will be expensive and painful, and you cannot deal with the airline, as you dont have a contract with them.

Personally, I always book direct with the airline and pay by CC.

  • Merged from Is a New 2TB USB Flash Drive on eBay for $24.48 Legit?

Hi. I’m half tempted to pull the trigger on this but it’s about 5% of the expected price, so warning bells are going off. Wonder if anyone can give any insights? Link is below:

      • +1

How about with a ten foot pole?
        .

        • I wouldn't touch it with Opera Winfrey's 10 foot dildo.

It will be fake. You could buy and test it to see what's really inside. It could be a USB Killler, but that's highly unlikely. It's probably an 2-8GB drive.

    • +14

General rule is not to buy from a seller on eBay with less than 99% (maybe late 98.x%) positive feedback and this seller has ~95%. If you filter negative responses:

      • Posted 2GB hard drive instead of 2TB hard drive. Clearly fraud and then refused to give the refund I am entitled to

      • First USB sent didn't work contacted seller, they claimed it must have been damaged in transit so sent another one and had same problem tried formatting and everything on both they then issued refund but was a long and arduous task getting that far.

      • The seller advertised a 4 Terabyte USB3 hard disk. He delivered a fake that had only 134 GB but was tricked up to look like a 4TB on Win Explorer in properties. He gave a partial refund to try and keep me quiet, but he refused to make good. He is still advertising them.

This one is an easy pass.

Also if none of the mainstream manufacturers make something of this capacity then an unbranded version is even more unlikely to make sense.

    • +2

      fake, move on.
