    Just make sure it can do 20V output off a 12V input, many can only do it off a 24V input.

        Why do you make that assumption? Most USB chargers like this can't boost the voltage.
        I'd err on the side of caution, but that's just me.

              @ATangk: A 100W one might be a little larger, but yes, they're pretty small and the size alone is not enough to discount it.
              But if I made a USB charger like this, I'd ensure that people knew it could do a 20V output using a 12V input.

                  @ATangk: Lots of them say that and then hope that people don't complain and if they do, they say that this is only for a 24V (trucks, etc) input.
                  I own a small lithium battery company that uses USB sockets in the side of the battery that can put out 20V on a 12V input, but it was a real pain finding one.

      Poor cig lighter circuit… 10A would be the max for most lighter circuits and this would draw at least 10A/12V at max capacity

        Wouldn't it be just under 9A at 118W? Should be fine at its max draw. Just have to be careful with other devices you've got plugged in to the same circuit.

          118 / 12 = 9.8A With losses, it could easily exceed 10A.

          118W / 12V = 9.87A. That said, batteries will hover around 14V while the car is running and the alternator is engaged, which would only require 8.4A, assuming the device is 100% efficient.

        They're not generally run off cigarette lighter sockets.
        Also, I'd take audio power ratings with more than a grain of salt. RMS does not mean what they seem to think it means.

    The Output for the USB goes up to: 15V/3A and 20V/5A, does it work for the voltage/amps in between? Eg 18V/4A?

      No, the device will communicate with the charger and set one of those voltage levels. Current is variable though.

      When the device is charging that annoying whirring sound is unbearable… In my old cars with no bluetooth I always made sure to keep the charger and the fm transmitter as separate devices to reduce this…

    Arrived today, so it's 100w max on the USB-C and 18w on USB-A. Seems to charge my Lenovo X1 via the USB-C.
