    How does this rower compare to say a Concept 2 rowing machine?

    • It's a different design to the Concept 2, but still equally rated as Full Commercial. To be honest, I'd say that the Concept 2 is the best rower on the market at the moment, But this is a close 2nd… And half the price.

      • Thanks for the info, I'm having a look around the site now. Are you able to give us a rough idea of how this product differs from a Concept 2?

      • Not quite half the price. Concept 2 Model D can be had for $1320 at the moment from the official importer. Not sure about freight.

        Two things spring to mind. This seems like a good price for a quality machine, but I would recommend trying before you buy.

        I am biased because I used a Concept 2 for years at Uni and have one at home, but whenever i have tried a different machine, it just doesn't feel right. If you don't come to an erg with any preconceived ideas, anything might be OK I guess, but just as cars aren't cars aren't cars, rowing machines aren't rowing machines, etc… They can and do feel significantly different.

        • Well, for anyone in Melbourne… Our Showroom is in Sunshine. Come by and give it a try!

    I am curious as well. I have used a Concept2 (at a gym) and it seems to have a fan driven by a change to create the resistance. The harder the user pulls on the chain the more resistance there is - just like if rowing through water. This is apparently an "air rower" with "magnetic resistance" so I am not sure how that works and like a Concept2 that would be.

    • There are 4 different types of resistance in Rowers; Air, Water, Magnetic and Hydraulic. Both this rower and the Concept 2 are Air Resistance Rowers. 'Magnetic Resistance' must have just been a buzz word used by our supplier. I just went and tried one in the showroom and it is 'harder you pull, the more resistance there is'.

        I didn't even want to respond. It feels like dealing with an attention-seeking child… and the best thing to do, is just ignore him.

      wow a link to a POS exercise machine that is sold out

      that's helpful….

      • I know right? This person clearly knows a lot about rowing machines!

      • -2

        "that is sold out"

        buy it elsewhere then, or if you like wasting your money, buy this one, they do the same thing…

  • Ok, I am interested if it is an air rower. How high is the seat off the floor and what sort of electronic programs are there? Does it monitor heart rate? What is the warranty? Thanks.

  • I believe this is the rowing machine in question;

    Made in China;

    But everything is these days, apparently.

    Might help for those looking for reviews.

    Rep, please correct me if I'm wrong.

        Hey Seb… We've had them for about 6 months and sold 21 rowers. Haven't had any issues/ warren tilt claims yet. Always hard to buy something without trying it first though, i guess. I can check out what the best price we could do the Concept 2 for, if you'd like.

        • What is the warranty? (Concept 2 warranty is 5/2 - 5 yrs frame 2yrs parts). I may go to WW to try one out.

        • 7 years frame. 2 years display. 1 year Durable wear parts and keypad.

        • Yes, please (on the Concept 2).

    • Seems like a good price but a bad idea. Better off buying the concept 2.

  • I personally have no experience with this brand - they could be as good as Concept2 or maybe they are not.

    I'm not in the market for a new rowing machine ATM but I would just say do your research - rowing machines in general have a well-deserved reputation for falling apart very fast after not much use and I also have had some experience of this. Manufacturers and people alike vastly underestimate the amount of strain these machines have to deal with.

    People say Concept2 is the best for a reason - it's expensive as hell compared to most other brands however they don't fall apart. About the only thing that does is the foot straps (these can be easily fixed).

    Like I said this shouldn't be taken as an evaluation of the brand being discussed, there can be exceptions. I just recommend doing your due diligence is all.

  • Now would be a good time for someone to post a Concept 2 rower deal

    • I'm going to check what price we can do for them tomorrow.

  • Yep..C2 for sub $1000 would have us all biting your arm off

    Unfortunately, No good news on the Concept 2. The reason we can do this deal so cheap, is because we import the rower directly from the manufacturer, no agents or middle-men marking up the product. The Concept 2, on the other hand, we buy from Concept 2 Australia. They know it's the most in-demand rower on the market so they can charge us as much as they want and know still going to supply it, because a lot of gyms JUST want the Concept 2… and if we don't supply it, they'll look for it elsewhere and we may lose the whole deal. Sorry guys, C2 is what it is.

    • I know there's a lot of crap rowing machines out there, but this really isn't one of them. If anyone is interested and in Melbourne. Come past the Showroom and you can tell the quality as soon as you use it.

    • Love how Concept 2 Australia make out that $1320 is such a great price when its $900 standard price in the USA. With the dollar as it is they must be making a killing.

  • Do you rowers train with heart rate monitors? I used a friend's WaterRower for a month and I found it very hard to get my heart rate up to the level I exercise at with a a bike, stationary or road, or running or rope skipping or practically anything else I can think of.

    • I don't use a heart rate monitor but I definitely feel more like puking after a hard rower workout (say X intervals of 500m rowing sprints with 1 min breaks) than a hard road bike or rope skipping workout (running doesn't come near I think because it's much easier to slow down).
