Anyone with experience of this whiskey? Is it as smooth as Glenlivet?
Glenlivet is boring. Talisker tastes like fire and dirt and the ocean, like whisky should.
I like Glenlivet. Not sure what you mean by boring but I like smooth whiskeys. Something rough like Lagavulin gives me a headache to finish the bottle.
Generally, the longer the ageing in barrels, the smoother the whisky as you tend to get more balance and less rough edges from the alcohol.
Personally I find Lagavulin 16 smoother and considerably more balanced/complex than Glenlivet 12. I’m thinking maybe you don’t like the strong smokiness and dryness of the former?
If Lagavulin 16 is rough for you, this isn't for you. You probably better stick to smothies :-) but missing out a lot!

I haven't had this but love the Talisker10. Rate it over Lag8 and Laph10 but Ardbeg 10 still slightly better than Talisker10.
For Talisker 18 - what would you compare with? Lag16? I love the Lag16 and if this doesn't beat it then you can still get the Lag16s for less than $120 in genral.
What's the take?
I like Lag 16, but this Talisker 18 is amazing.
Light peat smoke, easy to drink and enjoyable, especially for non-peated whisky people who want to try.
As I said, great price at $127/bottle (after giftcard and CB) for 18YO dram.
Btw, I got 2 bottles of Lag16 couple wks ago from vintage cellars for $86/bottle after CB and discount.
