To continue the series of discussions about brands that we love or hate, I have added this new question specific to Aussie brands. Please mention which Aussie brands you love and also the Aussie brands which are doing well globally (though some could be less known to many people). Brands or companies would do. Let's go.. My vote for Bundaberg, Arnott's, Canva.
Which Aussie brands do you love/ are doing well globally?

Has Jackson Palmer renounced his Australian citizenship? Online news still reports him as an Aussie.

RØDE Microphones, nuraphone, Afterpay, Siteminder
Afterpay isn't Aussie (owned) anymore…
Well $39b worth is US now!
Ok ok, square is listing on the ASX and will take the #1 spot…Rode - 100% respect and rep for Freedman!

If it's not the Chinese, it's the yanks!

i guess to look at the brighter side, i rather have the yanks takeover instead of the chinese. lol

Breville

afterpay aud$40b
Blackmagic Design - they brought lower-cost great-quality video gear to a market that really, really needed it.
Not my fav brands per say, but one topic I do enjoy talking about!
A few Aussie brands/orgs (past and presently owned) that have made amazing steps to become global players… Few that come to mind, and have seen during my travels around the world! Always puts a smile on my face and reminds me of home when I see the logos…
TNT
Boral
BHP
Ansett :(
Westfield
Macquarie
Penfolds
Speedo
Lend Lease
Breville
Billabong
CSIROEdit: now I keep thinking of more!
Guess I should credit Qantas also, just don't always agree with the company direction.
Cochlear
Woods Bagot
Cotton On
Worley
Akubra
Driza Bone
The vast wine producers who export globally (regardless of quality) - Brown Brothers, Casella, Treasury etc…Did you never see any Aust banks in your travels? Or accounting firms?
Around Oceania, yes. But to in the same sense as those above.
At 1am, I pictured myself at the airport then going through a quick mental walk when OS in a few locations.
Planes -> duty-free -> to a hotel-> shopping -> walk around a CBD etc, then a few days around a city and back. When thinking of an Asian, Euro or US destination, not seeing AU banks. (Macquarie was listed as per their investment arm and large amount of takeovers and investments in offshore projects over the past few years).
Woods, Worley, Lend Lease, Boral etc for their involvement in many projects around the world and/or ownership of OS subsidiaries.
CSIRO, Cochlear - obvious reasons I feel. WiFi, Hearing etc….
Others - 'brands' in shops, or shopping centres etc. :)
Banks, WBC, NAB, CBA, ANZ etc. really only within the Oceania islands.
Scott Morrison
Johnny Bigg (Tarocash).
The Wiggles
In that vein Bluey
and Bananas in Pyjamas
Anko
Doing well overseas?
Fosters
Not Australian owned any more?
Regardless, it was always more popular overseas than domestically.
Atomos and Blackmagic
Deputy, Airwallex, SafetyCulture
Carmans kitchen
Budgie Smugglers.
Can we say AC/DC was a brand? Kinda is one, within itself! hhahahah
No-one mention Kogan?
and Virgin too! Proudly Aussie born.
Might be news to Richard Branson.
Sorry, my bad. I was referring to Virgin Australia (airline). Branson would defo be happy if he realizes he owns the majority shares in it.
Yeah, nar… Not even VA is Aussie…!
I'm not saying that Kogan is a good business model, but I doubt the public is proud of Kogan or that they are doing well oversea.
Many people actively avoid Kogan where there's an alternative.
I avoid it for the simple reason that I rarely find it to be the cheapest. eBay or Amazon often have better deals.
Yeah, it was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion.
But, you cannot dispute how successful Kogan has become.I admire how well Kogan has done but not their business practice.
