+1 please support StoreDJ, it's one of the few physical stores in Australia where you can walk in and sample a large range of headphones.

Storedj are great, and same with this mic, quality is great, and super portable with a usb input.

      Free shipping as well!

I don't need this to go with my logitech brio webcam from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/645530 which I didn't need either, but I look more professional so I guess I should sound more professional too.

      • Do you have a video podcast?

    • Will do! Love this. I'm also upset I bought this on Friday for $230.

      • It was available for $159 from Digidirect with 20% eBay

        It literally is.

"The modified microphone was an immediate success, with sales likened to taking off like "a rat up a drainpipe". This comment led to the microphone being unofficially called the ‘RODENT-1’, which was later changed to the RØDE NT1, thus establishing the RØDE Microphones brand."

  • Own a Samson meteor mic. Is this worth it for any upgrade? Just use it for discord.

    • +3

ask the people on the other end.

    • +2

Not worth upgrading for simple Discord/Zoom calls. While not a bad choice for callers, this mic is more suited to content creators.

?? That pic is USA not USB

  • Great microphone and good value for money. Our son uses it to record Trombone (online school - both Jazz and Orchestra bands) and also his Youtube channel. Works a treat.

    • +1

glad its working out for him. Rode are a great Aussie company making great gear, but for musos generally I reckon it'd be worth ripping off the band-aid and getting an interface.

About $10 cheaper if you purchase off ebay with afterpay 15% off

  • Excellent mic. I got one from umart about $10 more than this. Money well spent.

  • Did some research and this works with PS4 :o

I use this to record audiobooks, definitely fantastic for recording pure voice, straight up has zero 'silence noise' with a small noise gate, and a little audacity magic to remove breathing for oxygenation purposes and presto!

That's also a good tip, no matter how fantastic the mic, additional after the fact tinkering or real-time filtering is half the magic.

    • +2

Interested to know how you remove breathing in audacity. I've been contemplating recording audiobooks for my kids (then I don't have to read to them at night lol)

  • Been cheaper before

    • +1

Yes. I bought it for $159 very recently.

      • I paid 149 couple yrs ago :)

  • Anyone know any aftermarket boom arm's that are compatible with this mic?

I've used this for years with mine. Pricey but well worth it.

    • +1

I tested several boom arms when i was building a podcast kit, the rode psa1 is still the best in the market IMO. It moves really nicely, good reach, holds its position well and maintains mic angle regardless of movement.

      • is that boom arm longer than usual?

  • I've had this for years good mic

  • This was going for $159 with the Digidirect 20% eBay promo back in March. $180 is still a decent price for this mic. Its been around for a long time (still 16bit) but a goodie

  • +4

Still in stock via StoreDj FYI, with free shipping as well

  • How does this compare to the Rode VideoMic Pro+?

Or is it too much of an apples to oranges comparison?
