Free XBLA Title from Xbox Japan

100

Mod — looks like the promotion is currently unavailable. Marked as expired for now.
Mod2: — Apparently it works now.

You can use Google Chrome to translate the page. The promotion is valid for the first 300,000 applicants.

You have the opportunity of redeeming a code for 1 of the 3 titles, which are:

  • Lode Runner
  • Snoopy Flying Ace
  • The Maw

Apparently it's random, so good luck with whichever game you get. Code will be sent out March/April to nominated email address.

  • Domo Arigato (I think!).

Have you tried this yourself iBuzz7S?

I will give it a shot later today, although if I score The Maw I might have to swap it with some kind soul, as I already have it ;)

    • Yep, I did it when I found it and it went through. Didn't receive a confirmation, but I take it as a good sign.

  • I gather one has to wait until the code is delivered [March?].

  • Wait until April?

    Interestingly long wait.

  • Cool promo, I got rejected though. "The promotion is not available at this time" or something, then kicked back to US Xbox homepage.

  • I signed in with my Japanese profile, and this is what I got:

    Promotion Not Available

The promotion is not currently available, please check back later.

Edit: Hmm, seems my JP account has Australia as my location now… :/

    • Hmmm…well it appears this promo has been going since last Wednesday, and with a population of 127 million, have they actually snapped up the 300,000 free games?

  • Thanks for this iBuzz7S.

I signed up and it managed to work. It was a bit of a process though, i.e. signing up for a Japanese email/xbox account… but probably worth it.

The problem is knowing/remembering when to check my newly created Japanese email in the future (for the code that is).

  • Just gave this a crack and it appeared to work (said something like "Thanks for your application"), but no confirmation email in my new Hotmail account…so pos vote from me for now ;)

  • i just did it and i got thanks for your application and i also have no email confirmation.
does this mean i will not get a code. i know it says not till marh or something but shouldn't i get an email saying i will get it

  • I have not received an email notification, but I take it that it will work. Microsoft tend to be slow, going by the Xbox rewards program, to send emails out to those who are registered or registering to something which is Xbox related.

  • Positive for the moment, via instructions on linked page, i made a japanese email first and then did a new registration through the japanese xboxlive site, registration was successful and same as others got the page that says "Thanks for your application"
so will have to wait and see but looks promising

  • I got an email today with Snoopy Flying Ace! Yippee!!!!!!!!

  • Got my code too, but it is for The Maw, which I already have…got the message "You already own this content.".

    Anyone keen for a swap?

    • +1

i'll see what i got tomorrow and then i may wanna swap =]
edit: wait does the redeem code get used just by typing it in and checking what i got?

      • +1

I think if you enter it on the console itself, it tells you what you are about to redeem…on the website it just redeems it straight away, or if you already own it, you get the message I got.

I already had The Maw so I just tried directly on the website, as I was pretty certain you could not redeem for the same game twice.

If you would be keen for a swap mrdavedave that would be great :)

  • I got snoopy flying ace as well, was hoping for one of the other two, but snoopy looks like a bit of fun anyway. Can't complain, the price of admission was right ;-) Thanks OP
