Inkbird Thermometer IBT-4XC (Bluetooth) + Fast Read Pen BG-HH1C $54.59 Delivered @ Inkbird eBay

120
IBT4XC88

Nice deal in time for father's day. Good little unit for anyone starting their BBQ journey.

The rep has added an extra coupon on this already well priced bundle deal just for the week.

This is the Bluetooth unit as opposed to the wifi unit (ibbq4t). The pen is the same as the one you see in bunnings for $20.

Enjoy.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2021.

Thanks, ordered. Had a probe die on the weber iGrill and it constantly has Bluetooth issues anyway, for $160 I'm a bit annoyed with it.

Was eyeing off some of the Inkbird's the other day, so hopefully picked the right one

    • I own the IBBQ-4T and it's the same unit just mine is wifi, but really not essential.

Probes have been accurate for me so far. And replacement probes are cheap as.

This and the IBBQ-4T fit perfectly on the igrill holder on my weber kettle too 😉

    • Also, Weber customer service is very good. They will help you with your igrill. Otherwise get authorisation to be replaced or refund.

    • I have this set and it's been great. Definitely recommend for the price.

  • Does the wifi version allow you to check temps over the interwebs or is it just WIFI vs Bluetooth essentially allowing for more range but still only restricted to LAN?

    • +1

Yes, with my IBBQ-4T you can check the temps whilst you are off site and away from your LAN

      • yeah, thats what I'm after. thks for the info.

  • I have this. Walk away about 20 feet, and it disconnects. I live in a unit, and I can't even go into the office room to be on my desktop while the smoker is running in the balcony.

I regret not buying the WIFI one.

    • Yeah, bluetooth in general is definitely YMMV.

Combination of the device and your environment

  • Just picked up a second hand Weber today and was thing about this on the drive home, ordered! Thanks OP

    • Cool. What did you get?

      • +1

Picked up a second hand Weber kettle.

Learn the snake method and you'll never go back.

          • @he11bent: The way of the snake young grasshopper

            • @kickling: Nod nod. Started 6 months ago. So far every single one has been perfect, but they've all been brisket. Time for some pork butt.

              • @he11bent: Any tips before I get started?

                • @pd145: Yes. Don't have the top vent open fully, half is most I'll have it. The bottom vent is what you use to control the temp, but give it time to work. Don't just keep adjusting, if the temps are running too high, close the bottom vent a little and give it 10 to 15mins to work.
You'll want to add the smoking wood early on, so that the smoke penetrates the raw meat.
Don't forget the water container, that's what regulates the temps and also from having the smoking wood lighting up.
Also, learn how you stack the briquettes and where to start, so if the briquettes are leaning to the right, you'll want to start your 10 lit briquettes from the left.
Don't get impatient, it takes time, but it's worth it.
I did a 6kg Rangers Valley MS9 waguy brisket last weekend. I did it real slow, took 10.5 hours, time well spent, the end product was unbelievable.

Oh, also for the first time, maybe don't bother with rubs or sauces. Just go with the natural wood smoke flavour, so you can taste the difference.
I only started doing rubs and spritzing recently.

                • @pd145: Also, read as much and watch a few videos on the snake method before starting and have everything you need ready. You don't want to be running around in the morning because you didn't prepare the night before.

  • I'm interested in a kitchen thermometer for baking. What's the difference between the $5 and $20 digital thermometers on ebay?

    • Are you talking about thermo pens? Or the probe computers?

Essentially the price goes up with higher quality / faster responding probes.

      • Just the pen. Response time is not much of an issue. Main thing is accuracy. Would the $5 ones only have like +/- 5 degrees even if they're advertised to higher accuracy?

        • Yeah, it would be more prone to error and slow read times.

Depends on your situation though. Sometimes you don't need a 1 second time

  • just thinking about this, <hint>I woud lreally love to see a fathers day deal on the IBBQ-4T.</hint>….

    • +1

I've asked cos ppl are keen on it… But they said no deal

  • Any chance of a deal similar to this?

Or the Inkbird IHT-1P by itself?

    • +1

I think they are going to have a birthday sale coming up, so keep an eye out on a post from them on ozb… I think it's in September

  • Can this device still notify you when your mobile is in sleep mode? Or must the mobile device (that the app is running on) when you use it?

    • +1

I am not sure, but with my IBBQ-4T the app needs to be running to do anything.

      • Thanks! I read about that on the 4T but just wanting to confirm if the newer 4XC is different.

        • I'd be assuming not any different

  • Has anyone received this yet…?
