Before anyone asks, NO these are not legal in NSW :(

There was going to be a trial a couple months ago but it was cancelled. You can read more about it here:
    https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/nsw-abandons-electric-sc…

    • There is a huge distinction between both personal and hire scooters both having their benifits. The fact that the NSW government doesn't even what to look at trialling the program says alot.

      • I know, it's really annoying considering people won't just go and junk their personal e-scooters on trees like some worry about.

  • Oh man, make them legal in NSW already!!! Having said that saw a drongo riding (a much more high powered one) on the road 200m from my house. He was stopped right at the front at the traffic light, with at least 5 cars behind him, and that too on the right hand lane! Didn't give 2 sh*ts that people had to move to the left to overtake him down the road, nor did anyone bother to honk him. Sigh…

Those are the type of people who should be fined. People like myself who simply want to use e-scooters as an easy mode of transport shouldn't have to suffer behind these limitations

  • Any idea how heavy it is? I'm a bit skeptical of that brake being able to slow you down if you needed to emergency stop…

  • Can you reach the handlebars if you are over 5" tall?

  • I didnt reallise e-scooters were illegal here in NSW, as I see quite a lot of people riding e-scooters around in my area, doesn't look like they are getting fined for it.

    • Yup, I'm one of them lol. It's a major grey area but tbh every time I ride on my scooter I get really worried.

I basically had a real life nightmare a couple days ago when I was riding my scooter and about 20 police cars were legit right next to me (COVID pop-up injection stand). These police cars were roaming around the area and somehow didn't even care about me…

Was so scary but it just shows the state which e-scooters are in right now. If you ride carefully and don't run into a police having a bad day, you'll be fine lol

      • Think with covid the police have bigger things to worry about. So at least you got covid to thank for that haha…

HAHAHAH yea that was my exact thought. "Would they really abandon what they're current doing to stop a harmless dude on a scooter?"
