The two things that really drew me to film was the expense, and the inconvenience.

For the record, I actually LOVE film but dont love the expense/effort involved with dev/scans

Nothing beats hours of cloning out dust and scratches after you scan your film!

      • +3

also me: adding dust and scratches to my vsco/rni filtered digital pics

Sill better than spotting prints by hand with brush and ink.

Photo lab days were actually awesome.

The lockdown in Sydney is definitely making this more fun, the only local shop that does film processing is now closed temporarily due to the lockdown, and I now have many unprocessed rolls in my fridge…

Worth trying the b&w film, it's easy to develop yourself.

I thought no one use this one for a thousand year already?

People still love art and the process of making it.

Learning to shoot on film is fantastic because it taught me how to shoot efficiently. In maybe 95% of instances, the pic I take first is the one that I’m happiest with; the rest I usually delete because I overdo the settings or composition

        • +3

Yes it definitely gives you a different perspective than digital in a way that every shot counts. You will respect the end result more and learn to love the imperfection only film photography gives. IMO.

I’d love to grab the old camera and shoot in film but really don’t want 10 rolls of it. Two-to-three rolls would be great

If you're okay with black and white film, dcxpert sells three-packs at reasonably good (probably the cheapest for black and white) prices.

For colour film, digidirect has 3x24exp Kodak Gold 200 at $22.90 after discount (not a super great price), or 5x36exp Kodak ProImage 100 at $38.25 after discount (was better when they had the 20% sale a few weeks ago).

What about camera deal now ? 📸📷

        Great, thank you

      Retirement plan:

      *buy 10 rolls
      *use 3 rolls
*keep 7 rolls in fridge, sell for $$$$$ in 5 years

Disclaimer: this assumes society has not imploded from NSW based COVID cases by then

      • OzBargain's new high yield investment ??

Well it’s either that, or a 2021 Mercedes AMG.

          Unfortunately, I can afford neither.

Almost bought one thinking it was a slab of beer

I'm due for a few more rolls. Only have Fuji Chrome left in the fridge!
Been trying to find a donor body for my N F80Xs as the rear door clasp has broken. Not keen on spending $200 at the moment to get one out of JP or the US though.
    The real days of photography!
