Is Your BPC Tech Prebuild Meeting Benchmarks?

Hey guys, I recently bought a pre-built from BPC tech and it arrived last week. Specifically, I got Kraken power fenrir build with Ryzen 5 3600 and RX6700 XT. I also upgraded the case as well. Paid about $1800 altogether.

However, when i did some benchmarking, the performance hasn't been up to par with other YouTube benchmarks.
For reference, my fps averages (1080p) are
90fps for GTA
230fps for CSGO
230 fps for Rainbow
60 fps for Total war Attila
People with 5700xt and R5 3600 have better frames than me! FFS

So I'm wondering if anyone has bought this specific build and are you guys getting the same fps? and what fps should I be getting? should I get a return? has your BPC pre-built been up to par?

Mind you I wiped the drives and reinstalled windows to fix it before but the problem is still there :/ please help

  • i'd be posting this on whirlpool or reddit

    • yea I think I'll just copy and paste onto r/bapcsalesaustralia. Any other subs you'd recommend?

You have to remember that specs aren't everything - there are other factors to take into account.

GPU brand, RAM, Mobo and possibly PSU (if components are trying to draw too much) all come into play. You're never going to get the exact FPS as another person with the same CPU and GPU.

Are you happy with the performance your PC is giving you for $1800? If your monitor is locked at 60hz it won't even matter anyway :)

    • GPU brand is MSI
      Ram is 3200mhz XPG
      Mobo is GIGABYTE A520M
      Power supply is EVGA 600w
      Monitor is M27F (144hz)

Not really happy because people with lower specs are getting higher fps. $1800 is a lot just for a subpar experience

Considering these specs i would say the power supply is not providing enough power to your video card which is causing it to throttle.

600 watts is usually enough however it also depends on efficiency.

make sure you have 2 channels providing power if it has 2 x 8 pins which looks to be the case looking at images.

Extremely unlikely for a 600w to be the bottleneck of a 6700xt.

I ran a 6800 for several months on a trash tier 600W with no performance loss. Obviously I’m not saying that any old PSU will be fine because there are other issues with that, but I can’t see any scenario where the issues manifest in performance loss only.

          • @jaejae69: check you got 2 separate power channels powering the video card

            • @garetz: Sorry are you confusing me for OP maybe? But yeah could be worth checking physical connections.

              • @jaejae69: yeah i thought only the op would reply so didnt bother looking.

What did BPC tech say when you contacted them?

    • Reinstall windows and that was last friday - haven't contacted since

  • Have you checked your temps?

If there is an issue with the cooling it could be thermal throttling.

    • prior to reinstalling windows, I was averaging around 75-80C for GPU and around 70C for CPU on Afterburner IIRC, however, CPU usage was pretty low sitting around 30-40% but haven't found a fix for that.

      • So that was while it was under load not at idle?

It's very likely that they forgot to enable xmp

    • Nope, i went into the bios and enabled XMP

    • You should also check if PBO is enabled.
Basically XMP + PBO is the easiest no brainer performance boost for Ryzen systems.
Maybe need to find out if you have a graphics of CPU issue. Try running Cinebench to check and compare your CPU setup.

What are youtube benchmarks? When people post benchmarks publicly they tend to exaggerate, or overclock as much as possible to get a score that is not maintainable long term. I assume you're running everything at stock.

Try non identifiable benchmarks like 3DMark

    • I did install 3DMark prior to wiping the drives and IIRC i got around avg 55fps on TimeSpy. Also, someone with similar specs were benchmarking GTA5 and they're were getting almost double the frames. :/

      • Were you adjusting all of the in game graphics settings to match the videos too?

        • sorry, I'm not too sure what you mean by that but i ran TimeSpy as it was, didn't tinker with any settings.

          • +1

@Big-Smoke23: I meant in GTA. I believe with game benchmarks they sometimes turn all the in-game settings down to their lowest or even off to get the best performance, hence there could be differences in the results if you’re not matching the in-game settings.

  • Is the ram running at it's rated speed?

  • with a 2600 cpu and RX 580 Im getting 45 fps on default Timespy (Not Timespy Extreme or Timespy for gaming pcs). so 55 sounds about right, I'd do the cpu test in 3d mark and compare that to others online as well
