20% off Your First Amaysim Order (e.g. 10GB/365 Days Mobile Broadband = $79.92) Exp 29/02/2012

130

From website:

"20% off your first order before 29th Feb

Great news! Order or activate your amaysim SIM card before 29th Feb and choose from UNLIMITED, AS YOU GO or MOBILE BROADBAND to get 20% off your first order.

Grab a SIM online or at one of our 12,000 retailers. Offer applies to the total of your first order when you activate online. Not to be used with any other offer."

Although there may not be too many higher cost deals available to make the 20% discount worthwhile, I've been looking for a cheap, low data mobile broadband deal & came across Amaysim's 10GB data to use within 365 days for $99. Take 20% off & my order came to $79.92.

Across a year, that's $6.66/830MB per month. Only issue is downloads & uploads included. Still, should be fine for web surfing and email.

  • The 365 day data is a good deal, especially if you don't need to keep the same number later.

  • Hasn't this deal been going for ages?

  • anyone know micro sim available for mobile broadband?
edit: find answer to my question

Our dual SIM punches out to become a micro-SIM that slots straight into your iPad or tablet connecting you to the internet and your data pack makes sure you never pay too much.

    • Yeah, I am gonna get one for my dad's iPad 2 3g, he needs a data sim.

  • (Across a year, that's $6.66/830MB per month.)
The Woolworths pre-paid works out to be $8.40/3.44GB per month plus all the included calls as well.

    • yeah i'm still decide between the two
      not sure which network better?

      • They're both Optus.

        • thanks!
          silly me didn't read that…
          edit: but…

I got this last time. Cheapest mobile plan out there (for a year anyway). Plus the performance on the Optus network is far superior to my old Virgin plan (even though it too was on Optus. My girlfriend has an Optus plan and my Woolworths mobile data download speeds are the same as hers.

If anyone on Amaysim can confirm on the network would be great

        • Yes, I'm on the Cudo Amaysim $9 trial from last year and it works just as well as Woolies as it's the same Optus network.

    • -1

Woolies has 10mb data sessions. So you're using 10 x as much everytime you connect. Eg. Walking out of home with home wifi to 3g, 3g disconnects as you walk into a building, etc. Theres some dodgy stuff with the inc calls, something like half within woolies and half to any mobs.

  • Incidentally these data packs can be used by themselves or combined with the AYG plan for the occasional phone call. For example, I might go on the AYG for my normal light usage (minimum spend $10/90 days) and grab a data pack when I think I will be using the Internet for travelling, for example.

  • Can you buy one to activate later? Currently using some credit that doesn't expire until April…

    • Not sure, but you could activate and not use it until later. Only effect would be the 365 days runs out next Feb instead of next April.

    • My experience buying a sim from them online, it was activated before it arrived. Buying online and activating later might not be an option.

That's merely my experience though. (I bought my as a mobile broadband sim and also as a prepaid arrangement - if that's relevant)

    • Yes same me with me when I bought one. It was already activated without me doing anything.

  • Dont forget the fine print.
Data usage calculated in 1MB increments per session.
Has anybody using one for least a month to see the effect of 1MB increaments. ?

    • I have been on amaysim for about 8 months and the 10gb broadband for about 5 months. The usage from a phone and tablet isn't substantial. I'm so far within the 830mb/mth. I'm not even being careful. I use as I want. So 10gb a year is adequate. I tether sometimes, but even that doesn't use that much, unless you plan to be downlaoding movies and music.

    • See the other Amaysim thread for my comments. I leave my phone on so I don't incur lots of sessions but if you are the type to switch off a lot or ride trains into tunnels maybe the effect might be noticeable.

I didn't have issues with Woolies either the 45 days I was with them.

    • The way my phone is set up it will use up 3 MB whenever I switch it on. But with 10GB over a year for me it's no big deal as I don't come close to using 800 Mb a month..

  • Great deal. With MBC it's $50. I bought it last time it was on sale.

  • Got this sometime last year for my laptop. Works well.

  • I signed up for starthere.com.au and as a new user got $15 cashback for the 1 year 10gig plan.
